How did you create the account ? Unless you followed, exactly, the instructions on the HT2534 page that you posted from when creating an account then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.

Is there any way to delete the saved credit card

info in the iTunes account? I just got my son an iPod Touch for Christmas. I have access to the app store restricted; however, I would also like for the credit card info not to be stored, either, just as an additional safegaurd against my son downloading apps without permission. (He has the password to access the account because he is currently using a giftcard for downloads.) I tried to edit my account to delete trhe credit card info, but I was unable to do so.
Also, I noticed in my account profile that, although the credit card # is there, the securty code is not. When downloading an app, are you prompted to enter the security code? If so, that will also solve my issue. Thanks in advance for any help! I am new to this whole iPod experience.

To remove the card's details from your iTunes account, tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account - on your account's page there should be a payments link. Or you can do it via your computer's iTunes : go into the Store > View Account menu option and log into your account, and on your account's details click on the payment details link.

If you are trying to gift content then you will need to have a credit card on your account, your balance can't be used for gifting ; if you are trying to buy for yourself and you have a credit card on your account then its details need to be correct and complete - but your balance should be charged for the purchase.

HT2534 "No" is no longer an option for billing information for apple store. is there a way to register without a credit card?

I see in the online documentation that it says you can choose "None" for billing option and register for apple store with a credit card but when i try to do this on the iphone 5 i was recently given, "none" is not an option and i cannot proceed without entering a credit card.
i don't have a credit card and would love to use this phone with free apps. Let me know if there are any workarounds.

Read the steps in the support article from which you came carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
If you are certain you're following the steps exactly as given and are creating a new Apple ID and still have problems, go here:

I am currently using a Credit Card for payment methods on the ITUNES store. But my sons are now using it also, so my husband thought it would be best to delete the card and buy ITUNES gift cards instead so we dont have to keep loading this card. But it's not deleting my information. I redeemed the cards already and says that I have a balance on my account. But when we try to purchase something it takes me to the billing screen and it says there is an issue with a previous purchase because the card was declined! What do I do?? Someone please help. ITunes not accepting my new credit card details

My bank recently suspected some hacking activity, so just to be sure they issued their customers new (VISA) credit cards. The numbers are the same, only the security code changed. I proceeded to change these details in the iTunes Store, and I got the message:
"This card cannot be used with the iTunes Store. Please use another credit card."
Sadly, I don't have a credit card collection. This is my only credit card, and need to be able to link it to my account. I've written Apple Support a number of times now (If any Apple Support people are reading along, its case numbers 616319324 and 615607991.) But I'm not getting any response except their lovely message saying they've received my question, and they'll be in touch.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

I did. I removed the old card, and selected the 'none' option. After exiting and logging back in I reentered the new details, with the same error message coming up. I never had any trouble with my purchases or unauthorised ones. I've been using the card for other things in the mean time too, so it's not that. I think it has to do with Apple having my old card (which has the same number, but different security code) on file, which maybe causes a conflict with my new one.
As I said, I've tried to get in touch with Apple via getsupport.apple.com, but no succes....

When you created your account in iTunes, you should have added a credit card to that account. With a credit card on file, you can buy whatever you want from iTunes and it's automatically billed to your credit card. To add a card, go into Settings > Store and click on your Apple ID. Fill out the credit card information, save and you're done.

Firefox 4 beta 2 does not allow typing of credit card security code when accessing Bank of America ShopSafe website.

I reported this through Firefox's Feedback system. I also sent Feedback to Bank of America. I should note, I, so far, have had no other problems with Bank of America and Firefox 4, beta 2. I didn't have issues when I used the non-beta version 3 of Firefox prior to updating to Firefox 4. All I ask is that the issue be examined.

If I were to make purchases, I would use a prepaid card like an itunes card or an app card, but NEVER a credit card. I can't seem to bypass this option of using a credit card and need to. I have another Ipad 4 and have never needed to use my credit card to migrate past itunes to use any apps. How do I get past this credit card request and still use my ipad 2. According to my Ipad 2, if I don't plug in a credit card, I can't even use free apps which is stupid.

You can create an iTune and App Store account without credit card details
1. Sign out of current Apple ID if you are sign-in to one (important)
2. Go to App Store and select a free app
3. Tap INSTALL APP
4. Create New Apple ID
5. Confirm Your Country
6. Agree with Terms and Conditions
7. Fill in your Apple ID and Password (you must create a new Apple ID; don't use your old Apple ID)
8. Create and answer your secret question
9. Select NONE for Payment Method
10. Fill in Billing Address
11. Submit application for new Apple ID
12. Wait for verification email
13. When email arrive, verify your account
14. Start downloading your free apps
