Is there a way of jumping to a specific point in scrollable content?

I have a list of values sub-divided by month in a scrollable content frame, i.e. -
AUGUST
Value1
Value2
Value3
SEPTEMBER
Value4
Value5
Value6
Value7
OCTOBER
Value8
...and so on...
If my reader wants to jump directly to January for example, it would be nice if they could just click a button(labelled 'January') and the scrollable content automatically jumps to the January values. Is this possible?
Thanks.

You were told the proper place to ask a DPS related question. You got the answer and you’re still going on about it.
And yes, it is a nice system because technically you were not asking an InDesign question.
Bob, your tone of reply is regularly dismissive and unprofessional and you're being completely unreasonable. It isn't as if I asked about scrollable content in the Photoshop forum - it is a perfectly legitimate feature of InDesign!
Peter, if you don't know then answer, you don't have to reply to the question. Leave it to someone who does in the future. As for you 'always asking people for more information', how is 'You might want to tell us how this is an InDesign question...' helpful.

  • Is there any way to jump to a specific point in a long page?

I'm trying (and failing) to find a way to create a navigation bar at the top of a long page that will allow you to jump to certain sections of that long page. I've tried using relative navto:// links, and hyperlinking to text anchor points, but nothing I try seems to work. Can anybody help? Is this even possible?

In Smooth Scrolling articles, you can use decimals or percentages to jump to a specific position.
Example: navto://myarticle#3.3 (jumps to a specific position in smooth scrolling article that displays the bottom of page 4 and the top of page 5)
Example: navto://myarticle#50% (jumps to the middle of smooth scrolling article)

Well, I think I know why the rules are not working. The alias mailbox is being listed as another mail folder  and not as an actual inbox so the rules are not being applied. While I wish the rules would work, I will continue to manually mark some of the emails as spam.
As for the second issue with emails vanishing, I am waiting to see if it happens again. I think it must happen when it is syncing the data but I am not sure that it happens all the time. Today the previous emails seem to be their and it grabbed the new email so I don't know what happened with the vanishing email. Anyway this can be closed since I believe the main issue has been solved as being a setup issue with Yahoo alias email account.

  • If I hilite a line then scroll down a ways, is there a way to jump back to the hilited text?

If I hilite a line on a web page then scroll down a ways, is there a way to jump back to the hilited text?

    Not a solution.
If you are reading an article etc, and scroll way down to see comments for example, and want to return to where you were, a simple way is to highlight a few lines.
Yes, you can scroll back, but is there a way to "snap back" ?
If you are typing into a field, and scroll away, you can hit space to return to the point you were typing, etc.
Just wondering if there is a way to snap back to your hilited section...

    No.

using flex pitch is there a way to fine tune the start point .i'm using it as a audio to  midi function

Thank you for your reply Karsten but unfortunately this didn't help me so far. Or maybe I'm missing something?
First the link is a tutorial for iMovie on a Mac. I'm using iMovie on iPad so the steps are inapplicable.
Second it is only possible for me to manipulate the end part of the sound clip to whichever duration I want. But I can't do the same with the 'beginning' of the sound clip.
I simply want to place some photos in the beginning of my video with no sound in the background then after like 2 secs I want to start the music clip. For some reason that is not possible! Cause every time I drop the music clip unto my project timeline it automatically place it self along with the first frame in the project! And consequently the photos and music are forced to start together.
    Hope I'm making sense...

  • Is there a way to permanently block a specific open wifi network?

Is there a way to permanently block a specific open wifi network?

Well, the only workaround is if you get along with your neighbors and they're understanding of what you want to accomplish, not to mention they should password protect their wifi access as well.  This of course depends on the density of your surrounding neighborhood.
Start with checking the WiFi strength from your phone in their room.  If you're getting 4 solid bars it's likely your next door neighbor, and of course weaker would be farther (Help narrow your search a little).  Neighbors should password their router anyways since most providers I know put a cap on the amount of data on the plan (I think Comcast is something like 200 Gigs....I know that's a bit and I hardly come close to the mark, but if everyone around me was using my wireless that would all add up quickly).  Hope this helps.

  • My iPhone 4 running iOS 7.0.4 deleted all of my stored notes, I'm currently restoring to see if I can retrieve them, is there any way I can restore a specific saved backup?

So, I just went into my iPhone notes (iPhone 4 iOS 7.0.4), and found that all my notes had been deleted. I did recdently change the mail account I was using, could that be the issue? I'm very worried as I had some bank details and other personal information stored in these notes. Is there any way I can select a specific stored backup to restore from?

Well, in iTunes, if you had not changed to sync notes to Outlook, that would answer that question. I sync my notes to my Outlook and have never had an issue. The only thing you need to watch is your archive setting. If you have notes set to archive after a certain amount of time, you will find that after non-use on the iPhone, they can seem to disappear. They will just not sync back, but are kept in the archive of Outlook. They are never deleted unless you actually delete them.
I'm glad you were about to find your notes.

  • TS2755 is there a way to block texts from specific numbers to imessage with out turning imessage off?

is there any way to block text from specific numbers to imessage without turning imessage off?

Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:
Select the right facing arrow in a blue circle next to the email address this girl is sending iMessage to and select Remove This Email.
If she has your cell phone number, she can switch to sending iMessage to that and there will be nothing you can do, but removing the email address will prevent you from receiving an iMessage addressed to that email address.

  • Jumping to a specific point in a clip

How can I jump to a specific point/frame in a clip? Example: I know a clip is exactly 3:40 long. How could I go to 3:37?
    Thanks.

If you have the clip loaded in the Viewer window and the Viewer window highlighted, it will take you to that point in the clip, if you have the Timeline highlighted, it will take you to that point in the Timeline. You can also save a few keystrokes by just hitting "3.37." to skip to 3 minutes and 37 seconds, for example.

  • Is there a way to jump to a letter in mail?

This is something frustrating that I've been putting up with since I moved to Mail (from Eudora) a couple years ago and just never had the time to ask about it. I asked in an Apple store and the guy was like - what - oh . . .that is crappy . . .
So when you're in your InBox (though any mailbox would apply) and you select 'From' from the header bar to view your emails by who they came from, is there a way to just type an 'A' to get to the beginning of the emails coming from all 'A' emails. It ***** cause lets say I have 300 emails in my inbox - (not uncommon on some days) and I click the 'From' and I'm down in the 'R's, I have to scroll up to find the 'who' I'm looking for. It's stupid because I used to be able to do that with Eudora.
And - second question - if you can't do this, how or where do I submit a suggestion to Apple?

I guess I could do that, but that is just extra clicks and mousing. It seems like you should be able to click the "from" column and then type "a" and it goes to the A's in the 'from' list. This type of character navigation works in all of Apples finder windows: Click on your Applications folder and then type 'pre' and it goes right to the 'Preview' application - no searching neccessary - why not the mail?
And do you know where I would ask for a Feature Upgrade or Include suggestion? I'm just not finding it easily.
    Thanks.

  • Is there a way I can have Business Catalyst automatically import product content from Amazon? (e.g. a Web App I could build, perhaps?)

I'm currently building a site using Drupal that is basically a huge book database and book review site. In order to acquire basic information about certain books I'm using an Amazon module that automatically pulls information into my Drupal database (such as author name, page count, publication date, etc.) based on any ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) I enter. It's a pretty nice arrangement. Also, people can click on a link that leads them to the item on Amazon so that they can purchase it and I can collect a puny affiliate commission. Yay Internet!
But I'd like to use Muse and Business Catalyst instead. I was able to create a Web App version of my database but I can't figure out how to 1) automatically import based on ASIN and 2) automatically link each book record in the database to its page on Amazon. Honestly, if I could just get the info into the database alone I'd be happy.
I'm afraid that Adobe would have to create some sort of connection on their end that interfaces with the Amazon API - and therefore there is no way to create such a website now using Muse. But, of course, I don't know everything so I ask you all: is there a way this can happen now?
Thanks for all of your input!

To do stuff like that will always need custom coding and things like API work. You will never be able to use Muse for that, its a basic site design tool that can hook up to BC modules. You will need to use coding software and have custom API work done for things like this.

  • Is there any way I can control which specific access point I connect (and stay connected) to from amongst a set of access points with the same SSID?

I'm working from a boat in a harbor in which the ISP has deployed numerous access points around the periphery.  All the access points share the same SSID and each is configured to use either channel 1, 6 or 11.   From my location, there are over a dozen of these access points "visible" (based on the the output of WiFi Scanner) with a range of RSSI and S/N values that vary over time.
The ISP has told me that the quality of my connection should be "perfectly fine" for any access point with an RSSI value better than -75, but I know from experience that my connection quality is miserable (i.e. < 50Kbps download) for almost all of these, including those with RSSI values better than -75.  There is at least one exception, however, which gives me on the order of 2Mbps download, which is "great" in this context.
I've tried using a more powerful USB antenna plugged into my MacBook Air (mid 2011), but as far as I can tell, it really doesn't make much difference.  Neither does my location within the boat.   The overriding factor seems to be which access point I happen to connect up to.
I should point out that the closest access points are about 75 yards away, with many of them being several hundred yards away or more.  I'm guessing that even though the signal strength of some of the distant access points is causing them to get "chosen" some times, the results are unacceptable due to the distance.
I'm hoping that I can determine, through experimentation, which access point(s) provide(s) acceptable performance and then configure my Mac to limit my connection to those points through whatever mechanism I need to use (e.g. channel, MAC id, etc.).

Establishing a wireless connection with a client computer is left to the access point for various reasons. One reason that your Mac may not connect to the strongest access point is that it may have reached a limit of the number of clients it can serve, leaving it unable to accept a connection with another. The limit may not be very large.
Suppose that happens, and your Mac establishes a connection with a more distant access point having a weaker signal. Then, suppose a client drops off the network. Doesn't this mean your Mac will switch to the stronger access point? Not necessarily. The throughput delivered to and from your Mac would have to drop below a threshold specified in the AP for it to drop the client, leaving your Mac free to connect with another one. The reason for this is to prevent rapid switching from one AP to another in an area in which two signals are of approximately equal quality. If that were to occur the frequent and repetitive handshaking between the two devices would slow throughput to zero.
In an environment in which several access points are broadcasting the same SSID, Apple provides no insight as to how it determines which access point to choose. This is the reason I suspect this "choice" is a function of the router, or access point. The connection originates with it, not the Mac.
Now, what would solve your dilemma would be to determine a way to control the access point with which your Mac connects, by specifying the access point's unique MAC address for example. In this happy circumstance, you could maintain an editable "whitelist" or "blacklist" of the harbor's access points and be able to choose which among them you prefer.
I do not believe OS X maintains such a record of MAC addresses though, only those of the routers it uses. If I am correct about that, such a solution is unlikely to exist. Don't let that discourage you from searching for one though... I would concentrate on something like "selecting access point by specific MAC address".
I did find this patent application though:
Roaming Network Stations Using A Mac Address Identifier To Select New Access Point
    Perhaps it's a start

  • XDCAM EX workflow...selective import?  Is there a way to browse, set in & out point of file

With FCP we were able to browse/perview the files on the SXS cards, set in and out point, then ingest it.  I hae not found a way other than importing everything in Premiere.  I just want to inport the usable footage as to not clog up my scratch disk with junk I will never use.  Is there a way to brose before import and choose??

That depends. When you trimmed the clips with XDCAM Browser, what output format did you use? If it's an encapsulated file format--meaning all the media and metadata is in one file--you can do that using any file renaming utility. Even something like Adobe Bridge will let you do this with the Batch Rename feature.
However, if you went back to, say, an XDCAM-EX structure, you probably shouldn't do that. The reason is that the format support in Premiere Pro is pretty specific when it comes to the folder structure and file naming conventions used by each particular. That said, Pr is usually OK with XDCAM-EX files when you pull them out of the structure; you'd lose information like timecode and any clip metadata, but you can then go ahead and rename the files. It would be theoretically possibly to use XDCAM Browser to add this information as metadata, though; I guess you'd have to find out if that's a suitable solution, or if it has to be associated with the file names themselves.
Incidentally, are you on a Mac or PC with your Pr installation? If you're on a Mac, you could continue to use FCP to Log and Transfer the files to MOV (or use this option in XDCAM Browser, if it exists--I don't recall), and then rename those files at will. So long as you have FCP installed on the same machine, Pr will allow you to import the XDCAM-EX MOVs. Of course, you're not working with Pr's native 64-bit importers at that point, so you need to pick what is most important to your workflows.

  • Is there a way to isolate keying to specific area?

I do not think you can do this, but it would be really nice. Is there a way to use a bounding box to key a specific place. The reason I want to do this is because I have really good keying on 75 % of my body, but my left arm still has some green around it slightly. While I can adjust the whole think to take it out, it causes me to have to shrink myself in the 75% when it is not neccessary. So, if I could draw a bounding box or something around that 25% and and apply another ultra key just to it, it would be perfect. I am hoping this can be done, but I as I said, I do not think that it can.

I just figured out how to do it or at least one way to do it. If you create an adjustment layer, you can move the layer around to be over the area you want to do more keying. Just add the ultra key to the adjustment layer and it will adjust the keying only where the adjustment layer is. I sure there might be another way, but I think this will work for what I need. If anyone has any ideas of why Premerie keeps locking up when trying to encode aftereffects has changed the video, that would be awesome.
