Is there a way of rotating clips in FC4?

I have a plug in for iMovie that does the job, but would prefer to do it directly from FC, rather then transferring clips back and forth. Any suggestions, please?
Thanks.

Switch the View popup on the right at the top of the Canvas to Image+Wireframe.
Go to the edge of the image and the cursor will change in a rotation tool.
Drag the cursor.

Is there a way to rotate screen shot pictures on the Mac book?

You can rotate a screen shot, by opening it, (Preview is the default) un the menu bar Tools click rotate.
If you mean convert if from landscape to portrait, none that I know of.

  • Is there a way to ROTATE a flashpaper swf

Is there a way to rotate a flashpaper swf on a web page?
My client is converting brochures to flashpaper and has no
way to rotate the image from her application. She prints to
flashpaper and the result is a portrait mode that really needs to
be on the web page in landscape format (rotated 90 degrees
    clockwise).
Can it be rotated, either when printed to flashpaper (so she
could do it) or when added to the web page (I could do it)?

When you print from Word/Acrobat/whatever just change setting
    to landscape instead of portrait.
Other wise you'd have to rotate it in Flash I guess but
    unnecssary hassle really

  • Is there a way to rotate an array on the front panel?

Is there a way to rotate an array on the front panel?  For example, I want element [0] to be at the bottom of an array that's expanded to show the elements vertically.
    Thanks in advance.

I do not think that there is any way to make an array control or indicator display that way.
You might be able to reverse the array, creating an upside down display. If you also need the user to index it, then it gets trickier.  Hide the array index display.  Create another numeric control to look like the index control.  When the value of the new control is changed, subtract the value from the last index of the array and use the difference to index the array.  You may need to adjust by +/-1, so try it to be sure.

  • Is there a way to change clip size without losing image quality? Specifically from 568 x 320 to 1920 x 1080?

Is there a way to change clip size without losing image quality? Specifically, from 568 x 320 to 1920 x 1080?

No, especially not video files. That's way too much scaling.

  • Is there a way to rotate images in iPhoto on the ipad

I take photos with the iPhone or iPad and unless I sync them back to the Mac, there does not seem to be a way to rotate images. This makes having a nice slideshow (for the unlock screen) a problem as a bunch of images are all sideways. I'd like to be able to do simple edits like this in the device and not have to sync back and forth.

You can't in the Photos app itself, though there are third-party apps that allow you e.g. PS Express (though the saved rotated version of the photo will be put in the Saved Photos album).

  • Is there a way to split clips in the Event browser? (audio-synch related)

It seems there is no way to split an event-clip (a clip that appears in the Event browser). You can split Events--but only if they consist of more than one clip. And then you can only split them between two clips. People who have transferred analog video tapes (e.g., Video8) to their computers with the help of iMovie end up with Events that are the same length as their video tapes. So this usually means 2-hour events (consisting of one clip). But iMovie has a synchronization problem for such DV files. This problem would be mitigated by having shorter events. Hence the desire to split events. I thought a read somewhere a workaround for splitting event-clips, but if was a few months ago. I wouldn't think there is any reason we cannot split event clips, other than a preference for non-destructive editing. But a bit of destruction may be worthwhile if it improves synchronization. Does anyone know a way to split clips in the Event browser?

  • Is there a way to import clips from AVCHD folders I have copied from my camcorder to my hard disk? With FCE I could import these clips using log and transfer.

In FCP-X is there a way to import AVCHD clips from an AVCHD file folder I have copied from my Canon hard disk camcorder to my iMac hard disk?  With FCE I used log and transfer with no problem; but, FCP-X doesn't import them. It will import AIC files that have been created in FCE from the original AVCHD files.  If FCP-X will not import these files directly from the copied AVCHD folder, is there a workaround using other software to convert the files? For example, Compressor? (Canon does not provide any AVCHD conversion software for OSX).

    Hi jphil and Tom
I have exactly the same problem but the answer you (Tom) provided did not help in my case. Trying to "Import ->From Camera" and pointing to the AVCHD folder yields the error message: "(Folder) contains unsupported files or has invalid directory structure."
    Folder structure is
    AVCHD
         BDMV
              CLIPINF
                   .CPI files
              Index.bdm
              Movieobj.bdm
              PLAYLIST
                   .MPL file
              STREAM
                   .MTS files
    AVF_INFO
         3 files (.bnp, .inp, .int)
    DCIM
         101MSDCF
              empty
         MODELCFG.IND (file)
My question is: Is that not a "camera archive" of the type you talked about in the thread? Is it on principle not possible to import the files in that format/directory structure? If not, since the shots were not taken by myself, what should I ask the guy who shot the movies to give me to be able to work with them in FC?
I work with a brand new Final Cut Pro X 10.0.4 (still very clumsy with it) on an iMac 11,3 with MacOS 10.6.8.
I downloaded the latest version of codec updates from the Apple support site but no difference.
    Thank you in advance

  • Is there a way to put clips from final cut onto an external drive?

I just chose the clips I wanted from the raw files and removed the audio (in the timeline), now is there a way to take these trimmed clips onto an external harddrive?

    What Ian said.
Once you import clips into FCP they cannot be exported without recompressing. But if you export as Pro Res 422 it is highly improbable that anyone will be able to detect any quality hit. Pro Res can withstand several generations of compression.
You can select the edited clips in your timeline with the range tool and export those separately if that works best for your workflow.
Btw, what format is your original media?

  • Is there a way to rotate canvas in FCP?

I've been told there is now way to rotate the cavas window 90 degrees. I'm assuming that is true. Anyone, have a solution. I'm editing 9x16 and I've been just turning my monitor on it's side. I'd like another way. I might not get it.
    Any suggestions?

    Brigham,
A friend of mine did this for a jeweler, so I called him to get the lowdown. He shot the whole thing with the camera at 90 degrees using a dutch head, just like Jim suggested. They edited the whole thing with the monitor on it's side just like you are doing. The Jeweler encased a number of 16x9 flat panels hung length-wise in the store and it looks fabulous. To Bogie's concern though, when they went to put it on the website they needed to change the QT dimensions and even that still came out pretty nice. I never saw the web stuff but saw the other stuff and I can tell you most of the footage was extreme close-up stuff on rings and watches and I bet that's why it was able to transfer okay for the web.

  • Is there any way to rotate and scale type live?

I'm using cs6 and I want to rotate and scale individual letters.  Whenever I try to do it I am only altering the text box.  Is there any way I can do the same thing with the text itself without rasterizing it?

Carlos has a script that divides text frames into individual characters. You can use the transform tool to edit the individual text objects.
the script can be found here, the .jsx version reply #6 is what you would use

  • Is there any way to avoid clipping and snipping?

With a tall stack of tracks, both Audio and Video, it is all but impossible to avoid clipping and snipping when working on one clip. Moving the clip into another spot will snip everthing along that vertical plane. Transforming the clip (ie lengthening it), ditto.
I've only been able to deal with this with a time- and effort-consuming work-around: ie, moving the clip to the absolute end of the video, and working on it there.
If I make any adjustments of the video clip in place, I have to move every audio along that vertical plane to a distant spot, in order no to clip the audio into little snippets.
Doe anyone out there know of a simple way to avoid clipping and snipping, or is this just one of the blinding headaches one must accept when using Premiere Elements?

I am not sure if we have discussed this previously, but one way to keep some control over arranging and adding clips to an existing Timeline is to hold down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard as you use the mouse cursor to add your clip to the Timeline or move things around. There are those who prefer the Ctrl key for this purpose. But, I stick with the Alt key and it works for me.
Another interesting approach, if you have not encountered it yet....if you have a block of clips that you want to move, take your mouse cursor to select them all (altogether) and then click drag the highlight which will include all in it.
The following is the Adobe point of view on Premiere Elements and arranging clips on the Timeline

    Thanks. More later.

  • Is there a way to rotate a document using the Adobe Reader for IOS app for ipad?

Is there a way using the app to rotate a document 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise?

There's no rotate command to rotate the document. Instead, rotate the iPad. If it doesn't rotate, turn off the Rotation Lock switch on the side of your iPad.

  • Is there a way to rotate video on export through Media Encoder?

My company produces a fair amount of content for vertical screens (i.e. 16x9 screen rotated 90º clockwise).  All the content is produced and delivered as 1920x1080p video (with the content rotated 90º counter-clockwise) so that we can work with standard broadcast equipment.
It's a minor step in our workflow but when we send out web approvals, first we have to drop the edit sequences into another 1080x1920 sequence and export that.  It would be nice if Media Encoder had an input setting or effects option to rotate video so we can avoid that step.

Doubtful (in fact very unlikely). You can check the app store for something - I beleive there are one or two that mirror a desktop to the iPad - but the only readily available "outside source" for an iOS device is steaming by way of a cloud or web source.
