Is there a way of using IE7 with Mountain Lion? There used to be this facility using Safari "Develop" with Lion, but this doesn't seem to work with ML

I've tried using Caleb's approach (which is the same as I used with Lion), but the programme doesn't respond now that I have installed Mountain Lion.
My problem is that I do not want to use IE7 but that a programme I need regular access to will only allow IE7 and I've been told by the developers that it is too expensive to upgrade this programme to allow it to be used by other browsers.
So, my puzzle remains the same. I could access IE7 and use the programme using Caleb's solution with Lion. I can't do the same with Mountain Lion. I do (I think!) understand your point about the programme requiring IE7 specifically, but if it worked on Lion, why isn't it working on Mountain Lion? Or was I just lucky before?
I'll try mende1's approach, though I doubt I'm technical enough to virtualise anything!

Most microphone output a low voltage signal that must be put through a preamp.
The computer needs to have a line voltage signal level instead.

Email Security Plug-in - Doesn't seem to work with right click or save and send

I've searched the knowledge base but have not located the answer yet.
We have the Encrypt Message plug-in installed to flag the email [SEND SECURE]. This works very well when in Outlook. It does not seem to work when right clicking a file to send outside of Outlook or performing Save and Send from within Microsoft Office. The add-in still shows and users are clicking it and the Send button but the emails are not going securely. We are on Microsoft2010 on mostly XP machines.
How can I get Encrypt Message to work in all instances?

Siri doesn't seem to work with Find My Friends

Siri doesn't seem to work with Find My Friends completely accurately. If I ask it where once of my friends is, it tells me it doesn't know, but shows that person in the response, twice, with their location. Anyone experiencing this?
Also - I found a bug. If you dictate a note via Siri it will not sync with iCloud at all. If you manually update the note however after Siri dictates it will. It will also sync if you manually start a note and then use the microphone on the keyboard.

Actually, I figured it out. For the person in question I had both [email protected] and [email protected] listed in their contact info. When you look at them in Find My Friends see which one is highlighted and delete the other. Once I did that they only showed up once in Siri.

According to your description, I can reproduce your scenario in my SharePoint 2013.
For the Retention Policy, it will schedule how content is managed and disposed by specifying a sequence of retention stages. In SharePoint Designer Workflow 2013, we have looping option available. You can
use loop option and then pause for duration for achieving same function as Retention Policy to start a workflow.

Annotations - InheritanceType.TABLE_PER_CLASS doesn't seem to work with GF

I'm using the toplink essentials jar file with a stand alone J2SE application. I'm using annotations for ORM with Toplink implementation
What I want to achieve is to map the base class objects to one table, and sub class objects to a different table. Currently - both tables (and objects) have the exact same structure, but I use inheritence in order to identify where should the object be registered. Thus I'm trying to map an inhertiance using TABLE_PER_CLASS type.
It doesn't seem to work:
My classes look like this:

This doesn't work. The Toplink adds entities of the GfrRegion to the REGION table and does not recognize it should go to the GFR_REGION table.
What am I doing wrong?

Any news about the support for TABLE_PER_CLASS in TopLink/EclipseLink ?
The main question is what was the reason for making this an optional strategy for mapping in the specs ? Both OpenJPA and Hibernate have it and there are cases when this is usefull.
From EclipseLink perspective, how difficult would be to add this ? I didn't have a chance yet to closely examine the codebase for EclipseLink, but some architecture diagrams with some design decisions explained would help to community to better understand the product and make improvements.

Bridge Offset Nulling Doesn't Seem to Work With SCC-SG24

Does anyone know if the DAQmx "Perform Bridge Offset Nulling Calibration" vi works with the SCC-SG24 modules? We have used our NI-9237 module in the past to acquire dual-channel load cell (thrust & torque) measurements, and calling that vi does a fine job of zeroing out the values before applying the load. However, it doesn't seem to work when we try to take the same measurements using an SCC-SG24 module.
We are able to zero the values manually, by using the nulling resistors and potentiometers in the SCC-SG24. But, whether the nulling resistors are installed or not, we are not able to zero the values using the "Perform Bridge Offset Nulling Calibration" vi. Running that vi does induce a significant offset in the values, but it is not the correct offset needed to bring the values to zero. For example, with no load applied, a torque reading before running the vi may be +1090 in-lbs, and be "zeroed" to -465 in-lbs after running the vi. Running the vi multiple times (to check repeatability) always brings us back to approximately -465 in-lbs.
An additional issue (not sure if it's related or not) is that if we try to run this vi to offset just one of the channels in the task (such as just thrust, but not torque) it will still induce a small offset in the other channel, which doesn't seem right.
I guess I'm not clear on whether the subject vi is performing an operation on the hardware, the software, or both, so I'm not sure whether the SCC-SG24 modules may not be compatible with this vi?

I think that the DAQmx Perform Bridge Offset Nulling Calibration should work for the SCC-SG24 module. Take a look at this article: Removing Large Initial Offset for Load Cell or Strain Measurements with SCXI-1520 or PXI-4220 in particular it mentions that using this VI in addition to the auto zero can introduce an offset. If you're doing both these is likely the cause.
Also, when you specify specific channels using the channels input are you also setting the "skip unsupported channels to false? If not this may be why it affects other channels.
I hope this helps, and if not please feel free to post back with an update after trying these things.

The message that comes up when I click on "TomTom Home Install" is "You cannot open Home Install because Power PC applications are no longer supported." Does this mean that the TomTom, which is absolutely vital to my life - well, not literally but you know what I mean - can no longer be used with my MacBook Pro? Does Apple want to drive us into using PCs or what is going on? Is there a driver or some other clever means of making the TomTom work as they used to work with Macs? What that means is that is can't be used with Lion 10.7. PowerPC was the chip Apple used up until 2006 when they switched to Intel. At that point, they created the Rosetta emulator to allow for PPC support for 5 years. They finally dropped the support with the release of Lion. It will only work with OS X 10.6 or earlier. The other option is to purchase a new GPS, which can be had for $100 for a decent one.

HT201365 How do I turn off applications to keep my battery level up? I used to be able to press the bottom button twice and hold down an icon until it jiggled and had an x on it. That doesn't seem to work with the new upgrade.

With the new OS 7 I can't figure out how to shut down applications to save battery. I used to double click the bottom button and select applications to " x" out of. How does this work now?

Pro-Res doesn't seem to work with QT 7 Player?

I just exported a ProRes video to my desktop and was horrified to find that it didn't play.
The screen remained white and only the audio appeared to work making me feel I had wasted a lot of time.
After a couple of minutes I decided to try MPEG Streamclip and was relieved to find that the video played OK.
It was also fine in QT X Player.
I assume that QT 7 Player was created before the advent of ProRes and therefore is not capable of handling it.
Is this correct or is there some way to get it to play in QT 7?

you do know, that some characters could have an 'effect' in the OS, as . or / .... ?
e.g. never begin a files name with a dot - poof! - gone, vanishing, invisible, although existing on drive!
and stuff from the 'converter fraction' often have file names as avatar/stolen/vob/divx.mov ... that doesn't work either ....

My iPad doesn't seem to work with the hdmi connector

I have a first gen iPad and I can't get it to display with the hdmi adapter. My iPad 2seems to work fine. I thought it worked for both gens.

It should work for both generations. It won't mirror with the iPad1, but it should play videos. My iPad1 DID play videos - for a week or two. Then it quit working with the HDMI adapter. Still behaves as before with the Component adapter. Nothing wrong with the cables, tv, etc. Aftyer ruling out all else, I exchanged the Apple HDMI adaprter for a new one - same thing. My iPad1 now has no idea there is an external tv/display connected when using the HDMI adapter. I suspect my mistake was in updating the iPad to the newest iOS software release. I'll bet this is what broke it. The question is: Will this bug be fixed, or is this new non-compliance going to be considered by Apple to be a 'feature'?

SetVolume doesn't seem to work with loadSound

I've been using Flash and the sound object extensively since
v5 so this problem came as a huge surprise to me... I don't think
I've ever encountered it before.
I'm trying to send setVolume() commands to a sound object
that is associated with an MP3 via loadSound(). I've tried
streaming and non-streaming approaches with loadSound() and get the
same results -- any changes applied to the sound object with
setVolume are completely ignored.
I can use the same code, replace loadSound with attachSound
and everything works as expected (with sounds in the Library).
However, with external MP3s and loadSound, the volume level
defaults and cannot be changed. When I trace(getVolume()) it
reports values between 0-100 so I know that aspect of the code is
right.
Am I missing something or is this just a task that can't be
done with sounds that have been loaded from outside the SWF?

I have many sounds in the file, and to manage this I've taken
great pains to be sure that there are no scope issues.
Everything worked fine when I used attachSound(). I switched
to loadSound() only to help speed testing and development because
it meant I wouldn't have to import, assign linkageIDs, and so on.
There are going to be nearly 50 sounds in the complete project.
While I'm still testing and re-arranging, anything that can help
save some time and make development more flexible is in my best
interest. Well, that is if it works as expected...
Any other suggestions?
