Is there a way to adapt image sizes for telephone, tablet and PC versions?

I know Muse is not a CMS. Doing repetative actions all time, is timeconsuming and boaring.
The ideal situation would be:
Dump all pictures in a folder. Muse adapts the resolution of the pictures to match the requierements of the site for telephone, tablet and PC. Muse presents the pictures in a resolution apropriate to the device.
Thank you for your time.

  • Is there a way to import images that have been edited and assign them to the original?

I am transitioning to mac and aperture. Is there a way to import images that have been edited and assign them to the original? I have 10,000 originals and about 2,000 edited images. The originals are named img_XXXX and anything modified img_XXXX_modified. I would like to be able to import the originals and then import the edited versions and assign them to the original masters. Instead of starting from here and going forward with 12,000 masters, some of which are actual originals and others not. Thanks for the help.

Ah, the vestiges of a destructive workflow! Once you "get" Aperture, (specifically Masters and Versions) you are going to love it, as all of this work goes away - the relationship that you seek to retain is automatic in Aperture; it is simply done differently.
The short answer to your question is EVERY image file that is Imported into Aperture will create a new Master and one Version. Assuming that your images are PSD/TIFF/JPEG that you created in something like Photoshop, then each one that your import will be a new Master. You have many options:
-- Stick the originals in one Project(s) and the edited versions in another Project(s).
-- Stick them all in the same Project(s) and "Stack" them.
But here is the real question: Why are you doing all of this work and what are you trying to accomplish? Seems you are trying to preserve old things that don't need preserving in a non-destructive workflow.
So, what is most valuable to you?
-- The original, out of camera files? (That is, the fear/need to revert.)
-- The edited versions? (That is the hours of work that it took you to get there.)
If the former, import the originals and ignore the edited versions. (Either simply leave them out on disk or import them into their own Projects which you ignore.) Use Aperture to recreate the work you had done previously. This will always give you the ability to revert to the original Master and create as many Versions as you want. This is the best idea if your edits are relatively simple crops and exposure adjustments,
If the latter, then import the edited versions and do as above with the originals. This makes more sense if your work uses lots of layers and, perhaps lots of clone tool type corrections.
Of course, you can do a bit of both.
Others may have better suggestions, but you will find it easy to answer your own question when you understand an image based, as opposed to a file based, non-destructive workflow.
    Good luck!

  • Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?

Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?  I have created an executable application that I want to distribute to Mac and Linux users (different applications were created in the respective OS).  I was wondering if there is any way to create an installer?  I think there probably isn't...  If the user were to simply download the Labview Run-time Engine from ni.com would they be able to run the application or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks so much for your time.

I think Shane tried to say, that it is on the Mac OS X installation DVD, NOT the LabVIEW for Mac OS X installation medium. And that could very well have changed in recent Mac OS X versions as well. They used to have Xcode on it too, but that seems gone as well.

  • How to print a selection of pages from a 3000   page PDF without having to scroll two wheels! Also is there a way to set printer options for just black and white? Seems like there is a lot missing here?

I have been using this for school work as much as possible and have come across a problem. With my lack of knowledge for apple it seems as though I can't navigate myself to a easy answer. The problem hits when I am printing pages off of a large document, and I don't want to print the entire document in color but I have no way "that I can find" for a black and white print option...
----- also a larger issue, when printing I need to select 1 page or even 20 pages... The time it takes to use a scroll wheel and the fact if you try and scroll fast sometimes you click off the screen then you have to start scrolling all over again... It seems like you would beagle to input from say page 1224 to 1236.... Instead I have a scroll a wheel? Just doesn't make sense...?
Can someone please help solve this for me!

Yes, that fixed it, thanks! I had no idea they clashed like that. I ruthlessly purged all other tables of contents, and then used Layout > Table of Contents to create a new one, and it worked.
It made more sense after seeing in this thread that table of contents styles are more like presets or entities than styles.

  • Is there a way to adjust image size? (besides the little slider)

Just wondering if this is an issue with my iphoto or camera. When I add pictures to my iphoto from my camera they appear really tiny. When I make them larger within the window, the pictures become distorted. They also upload on to websites extremely small. I have checked my camera settings and everything seems to be normal there. My friend has a iphoto, and her pictures are not uploading this tiny. Is there a setting that I can change for this?
    thank you!

    Jacquie
It would appear that your friend replaced all the Original full sized pics with the thumbnails that iPhoto uses for display.
    To start over:
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Best way to increase image size for print

I have a jpeg of an image that I will have to increase roughly 140% for a final print size of 16"x20". I am creating the final design in InDesign, but am editing the image in Photoshop first. My question is what's the best way to increase the size of the jpeg first in Photoshop (I assume) so that when I bring it into InDesign it is maximized in terms of resolution but not so large that the file size prohibitive for sending.
I've already cropped the image, but haven't adjusted any of the sizes. The dimensions are currently: 3233 pixels x 2586 pixels, and 10.777 in x 8.62 in at 300 pixels per inch.
Do I bring it into InDesign this way or increase the document size first in Photoshop? I assume the latter.
If I increase the size in Photoshop, I assume I should resample the image. If I do, that increases the pixel dimensions and file size to over 82.4M. Is there a way to keep the 300 ppi resolution while reducing the file size?

Photoshop CC now has Preserve Details as well as Bicubic smoother for enlargements.
140% is not asking much for enlargements. Photoshop may suffice.
You mention 300 ppi. Is it  really necessary? In the days of offset presses, that was the standard, but what is it for a photo inkjet or the printer you use? You may not need 300.
Personally when I enlarge, I like Photozoom Pro. I have it on my Mac and PC and find it better than stock enlargement in Photoshop. Of course it's $99-$199 depending if it's on sale.
Here's a bit more about digital enlargement in this Sydney Morning Herald article
    http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/cameras/how-to-enlarge-images-without-pixelation-201306 26-2ovts.html
Of course Photoshop is for preparing photos for print and the web, so you would want to finish your photos there before moving them to InDesign.
Trevor Dennis, Noel Carboni and many other professionals can give better answers on the subject of enlargement and printing so I hope they will post advice as well.
I can't answer the last one honestly, I've never prepared prints for room exhibit, so I can't say what works best.
Good luck. I hope you can get it sorted out.

  • Way to limit image size on uploaded images by editors?

Help! I asked this a few days ago, with no reply. Is there a way to limit image size when an editor or publisher uploads an image? Something like the feature Adobe Contribute has? Thanks so much.

  • Is there any way to keep vibrating ON for calls on...

    I have nokia asha 302
My query is i cannot select vibrate alert ON for receiving calls alone, i noticed that turning on or off for vibrate is common for both calls and messaging. is there any way to keep vibrating ON for calls only and not for messages  please advise me on this issue. Even if i turn OFF for Message option the phone still vibrates when receiving SMS , atleast is there a update for this option to select separate vibrate option for both calls and messaging.. This is weird
Moderator's note: Subject was amended as the post was moved to a more appropriate board.

Haven't seen anything like that in any S40 phone. So I don't think its ever possible. It will either vibrate for everything or nothing.

  • Is there a way to change clip size without losing image quality? Specifically from 568 x 320 to 1920 x 1080?

Is there a way to change clip size without losing image quality? Specifically, from 568 x 320 to 1920 x 1080?

No, especially not video files. That's way too much scaling.

  • Is there a way to reduce the size of my PDF file, created (or I should say, Exported) in InDesign.

I created a 10-page sale flyer in InDesign CS5 which will be viewed on our website. When I export it as a PDF file, even with the compression at "minimum", the size is still 3.8 MB.
Is there a way to reduce the size of the PDF file? with InDesign or another tool out there?
    Thanks for your help!

To expand a little on what Jongware said, normally choosing vector over bitmap will decrease the filesize. If the vector art is very complex though, this will not be true.
Yup, a logo as bitmap takes up more space than the same as a vector -- unless the vector image is bitmap heavy (think Drop Shadow, Outline Glow; these are actually bitmap effects).
Also, check your PDF version. "Older" versions do not support live transparency, the latest do. Then again, you cannot use live transparency if you suspect your viewers may be using Mac OS X, because Apple's own PDF viewer sucks big time.

is there really no fix for this?
It would depend on your definition of "Fix"
Your iPod touch running OS 4.2 has a ZOOM feature which will enable you to see the screen more clearly.
To turn Zoom on or off got to:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and tap the Zoom On/Off switch.
    _To Zoom in or out_:
Double-tap the screen with three fingers. By default, the screen is magnified 200 percent. If you manually change the magnification (by using the tap-and-drag gesture, described below), iPod touch automatically returns to that magnification when you zoom in by double-tapping with three fingers.
Increase magnification: With three fingers, tap and drag toward the top of the screen (to increase magnification) or toward the bottom of the screen (to decrease magnification). The tap-and-drag gesture is similar to a double-tap, except you don’t lift your fingers on the second tap—instead, drag your fingers on the screen. Once you start dragging, you can drag with a single finger.
    _Move around the screen_:
When zoomed in, drag or flick the screen with three fingers. Once you start dragging, you can drag with a single finger so that you can see more of the screen. Hold a single finger near the edge of the display to pan to that side of the screen image. Move your finger closer to the edge to pan more quickly. When you open a new screen, Zoom always goes to the top-middle of the screen.
    _Large Text_:
Large Text lets you make the text larger in alerts, and in Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Messages, and Notes. You can choose 20-point, 24-point, 32-point, 40-point, 48-point, or 56-point text.
Set the text size: In Settings, choose General > Accessibility, tap Large Text, then tap the text size you want.
I hope this has helped a little - other than this option I think it pretty much is what it is.
BTW - This information can be found on page 208 of the iPod Touch iOS 4.2 Users Guide.
    Best wishes..

  • Way to limit image size on uploaded images?

Hello! Is there a way as administrator that you can limit image size for uploaded images? (Like in Contribute) Thanks so much

    Hello mikkiblaes,
There isn't a way to limit the size of an image that is uploaded in InContext Editing, but there is a built-in file size limitation of 2MB. As the InContext Editing Browser help states:
Once you've inserted the media element, you can resize the asset by dragging the resize handles around it, or by changing the width and height values in the Media toolbar. (Make sure the asset is selected when you do this.) To maintain width and height proportions when you resize, make sure the lock option is selected. (It's selected by default).
This type of feature has been requested a couple of times:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/991229
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1994111
And we would greatly appreciate your feedback on how you would envision this working.
    Best regards,
    Corey

  • Is there a way to avoid image "compression/downscaling" on the iPad yet??

Is there a way to avoid image "compression/downscaling" on the iPad yet??
I'm sick of saving/downloading/transferring images to my iPad, only to find them being downscaled when saved to the device..
Is anyone aware of a way to change this?? <edited by host>
I would very much like my images to remain the original resolution..
    Thanks!

Nothing has changed. If your camera transfers raw images to the iPad, these are not touched. Copies that work with the iPad's resolution are also created during the transfer. When you sync with your computer the untouched raw images are what get transfered.
But the iPad is a viewinf device, not a transfer device from computer to computer, so if you sync photos from your computer to the iPad, those are provisioned to the iPad's resolution.

  • Is there a way to view image numbers in iPad photos, either of images taken with the iPad or of images copied into Photo (or camera roll) on the iPad?

Is there a way to view image numbers (metadata) on the iPad Photo app, distinguishing those taken with the internal camera from those downloaded from external camera or copied from an email?

sberman: My iMac is running iTunes 11.0.2 already. As well, the Photos tab in the iTunes window shows that "Sync Photos from" is un-checked. And in the box to the right of it is the greyed-out empty folder that I previously synced to in order to remove photos from the Camera Roll.
Ralph9430: I did a reset (Home + Sleep) earlier when I was trying everything I could think of. I have also re-synced a couple of times. No luck.
Thanks anyway. I was hoping someone out there would tell me they've experienced the same problems (non-functioning DELETE button, and persistent data in Photo Library), even if they haven't found a solution. Then I could assume it's a iOS 6 bug. All I can think of to do next is a full iPad restore.
