I honestly don't even know how to word my question haha... so the title may be misleading...
For my job I need to fill out indesign files, and at one part of the file based on the state a person is from I need to paste a specific e-mail in several places.
Is there a way where maybe I create a dropdown menu of the several state e-mails I can choose from, and upon choosing it auto-populates that choice into the several other places?
I guess, is there a way where if I make a select or input text into one area it will generate in the other areas as well?

I use to take One to One classes at the Apple Store. Each time i asked a teacher how to back up my i-photolibrary on a external hard drive they gave me a diferent way to do it, each teacher thought he could do better than the other... As this classes is only one hour long, I had to start all over again with the next teacher on the following session...
So know they are diferent version of he same library mixed up together and i am trying to clean up all this. It just take to much space on my disc and it is all confusing . Voila, that's the story!

No, the LR catalog is not multi user capable (and cannot reside on a network share without tricks). What you could do is
export part of the catalog (a subset of all images) into a separate catalog ("Export as Catalog", without exporting the negatives)
work on different images in the two catalogs at the same time
re-import ("Import from Catalog") the exported work after adjustments on it is finished

I would also recommend to write the description into the meta data. This would allow to place a text frame above the image and it is possible to add meta information and file name automatically together with the image, when you place it or even in a prepared template.
Meta data information can be written easily in Bridge in the Meta File Workspace.

I just upgraded to Yosemite from Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro. Previously, I could view just one open Finder window by viewing the Desktop via a hot corner and then selecting Finder from the Dock. This would pull only the top Finder winder into view, without showing any other open Finder windows, and most importantly, any other open application windows. I could then easily drag files/folder from my Desktop into the Finder window (which I do A LOT). Since upgrading to Yosemite, whenever I use the Desktop hot corner and select Finder from the Dock, it pulls every open application and Finder window back into view, putting Finder in front.

Yes I've created an Automator Application that does the job, but the "watch me do" function that does the Mail Merge is a rather Clunkey work around, as the mouse moves all over the place, thats the part i want to remove and replace with a script, or work out a different way around it that avoids the "watch me do" function.

So I'm working on my thesis in Pages now. Everything goes quite well, but I stumble upon 1 question. Is there a way to auto number my headers? I know Word has a feature like that, but I'd like to figure out if it's possible in Pages also.
To picture my problem, I would like to achieve something like this:

For example:

create the replacement
drag it over the existing symbol in the symbol pallete while holding ALT key down
(or whatever ALT is equivalent to in MacOS)
all existing symbols will update to new symbol
