Is there a way to be selective about sharing?

Is there a way to be selective about specific home sharing content? In iTunes, Home Sharing offers the ability to share the entire library, or check boxes for Music, Movies, Home Videos, Audio Books, etc. All I want to do is limit access to Home Videos. When I uncheck it, the content is still shared to the house. I thought using the media kind "Home Videos" category, I could separate videos I don't want the entire house to see. Seems this simple function doesn't work?

Thanks Winston. No doubt you correct. But that makes no sense. What is the difference really? The idea is to control what content is sharable to others and other devices. The heart of sharing is the iTunes Library. The question becomes, would their be any reason why my sharing choices with regards to content would be different between sharing and home sharing, and I would suggest not. You would either want to share the entire library, or be selective correct? Hang in there with me on this please.

Probably the best solution is to put your daughter on her own iCloud ID (but under your name since she's under-aged). She can continue to use your ID for iTunes store purchases. If you set her up with a separate iCloud ID, then her photo activity and yours will remain separate.
The Family Sharing feature may not be relevant or helpful in this scenario -- as I understand it, Family Sharing is for the sharing of purchases, not iCloud, and only in situations when family members have separate IDs for purchases but want to also share the purchases from a "central ID" (e.g. Parent's ID)

Is there a way to shift select multiple objects in layer palette, not just highlight multiple objects?
I would want to do this when I have a bunch of objects hidden under some other objects on the artboard. This feature is available in PSD, so I assume Illustrator should have it.

I'm using CS4 & below.
Highlighting object - click on object in layers palette & it turns blue
Select object - click on object in layers palette to the right of the circle, which creates a square, and selects the object on the artboard
How do I shift-select multiple objects in the layers palette...select 50 objects with a click, then a shift-click? Shift-select works for highlighting, but not selecting. On most programs shift-select is used to grab a bunch of stuff...:0)
In the past I have inadvertently selected multiple objects in the layers palette, by somehow alt?-dragging over the layers...or something...I can't re-create it.

Is there any way to be sure about book progression using VoiceOver Utility?

I am able to load and display iBooks products using VoiceOver utility without issues, which I'm very happy about. The main issue seems to be in the way the text is displayed, however. I can never be sure how the text scrolls. I might be able to scroll down several lines of text without incidents, maybe a few paragraphs in a row, but there will come a time when I have to progress to the right. Or maybe go further to the top. It never seems to make a lot of sense, and so I am left with serious difficulties reading books as they were meant to be read. I can use the Speak option from the edit menu, but that doesn't quite help, since the system doesn't save the progress you make using this reading method, meaning there's no way to pause (as far as I'm aware).
My question, essentially: is there a way for me to know with absolute certainty how to progress through a text from A to Z? Alternatively, is there a way for me to display the text in a more manageable, column-less way so that text scrolls naturally from top to bottom? Thanks!

Using magnetic lasso...is there a way to change selection without re-lassoing?

When using the lasso to maybe select a person out of a photo, its generally not THAT accurate in certain spots. when the lasso cuts into the photo area that you are trying to cut out, I find I have to start the process all over again. Is there a way to go back a few points and try again?
Once i have completed the lasso and I see that points of it cut into the photo, is there a way to edit the selection edges?

My sister and I share computers, but it's really her Mac because she got it for her birthday. I'm using it because there is no other place to hold my iTunes library, documents, photos, etc.
She complains that I make the computer too slow after I downloaded/installed too many apps from the Mac App Store using my admin account and my iTunes account. However, they show up on her account as well, and she doesn't want to see them or have her computer slow down, so she deletes them. Is there a way to make certain apps unseen and inaccessible from other admin users on the same machine?

Only by storing them on an encrypted disk image. Anyone who has an administrator password to a Mac can use it to access all unencrypted data on the system.

Is there a way to make Siri ignore shared calendars when I ask what's on my schedule or when I schedule an event?

My wife and I share each other's calendars with each other through iCloud. It's a great way (obviously) to see what we have going on for the day and avoid scheduling conflicts.
When I ask Siri what's on my calendar, she treats my wife's shared calendar as my own as in she shows me both of our events. And when I schedule an event with Siri, she will tell me that I have conflicts based on my wife's calendar.
Is there any way around this? A way to get Siri to understand that my wife's calendar is just for reference and does not contain my events?

This has been an annoyance of mine for awhile. I would love to be able to designate which calendars "count" when siri is thinking about me.

Is there a way to download an entire shared photo stream to your iOS device from the url?

I recently dropped my iPhone, resulting in a pretty total breaking of it. Luckily, apply care is awesome and I got my phone replaced the next day. My only issue is that I lost the ~3000 photos I had taken on a recent trip to Japan. These photos were saved on a photo stream that was then shared with others that went on the trip, however. My question is: is there a way to download that entire stream back onto my iPhone? Where I am I do not have internet access a lot of the time, and would like access to those photos all the time, as I would be able to if they were saved on my phone.

Indeed, photos can be downloaded to your iPhone. Videos, however, cannot be downloaded to your device.
Can photos and videos be saved or downloaded from a shared album?
Yes. After photos are shared, anyone who can view the shared album can download and keep them permanently. Videos can only be downloaded to a Mac or PC. On an iOS device, videos are streamed from iCloud and can't be downloaded.
On a compatible iOS device, you can save photos to your Photos tab or Camera Roll.

Is there a way to force a file sharing user to log out?

I have a problem: I've got a few more Macs in my office that need to connect to my computer from time to time via file sharing than OS X Snow Leopard wants to allow. I know Apple wants me to use OS X Server but I don't want to lose the simplicity of my normal workflow. Part of the problem is that users are not logged out unless they manually close the file share, which means that, say, a laptop that's asleep will still be taking up one "file sharing user slow" even though it's not needed. I can see who is logged in via the command

but want I need to know is, is there any way to force, say, user 192.168.1.8.50244 off of my file share without stopping and restarting file sharing, which logs everyone out (and breaks some of my scripts on other computers.

I have 2 shared libraries in my home network. I have 6 iPad minis (I've got a lot of kids) and 2 AppleTVs using those libraries. However, one library is more adult content (Rated PG-13 and R stuff) while the other one contains lots of cartoons and kid movies. I want my kids to only be able to access the kids library while my other library is still available (without lots of account shuffling and such) when my wife and I finally get a chance to watch movies. Is there a way to lock the one library down so my kids can't access it while in our network?

No. You can hide images using the "reject" rating, and you can password protect a Library by putting it on a password-protected sparsebundle.

We just purchased three iphones. Is there a way to turn off the photo sharing? We only want the pictures to be on the phone that took them, not shared between all three.

If you mean they are signed into the same iCloud account and are sharing the same photo stream, go to Settings>iCloud>Photos and turn Photo Stream off.
