Is there a way to collect previous purchases from itunes when they haven't

I just had to restore my operating system on my mac, but now can't get back the items i've previously purchased from itunes and didn't have space to back up. Is there any way to get these back without purchasing them again.

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • I have an ipad and ipod nano. the laptop i used to load music to nano died, is there a way to load music purchased from itunes on the ipad to the nano?

my laptop died, is there a way to tranfer music purchased in ITunes from an ipad air to an ipod nano?

The only way to sync to a nano is to use an iTunes account on a computer.
When or if you get a replacement computer you can retrieve all of your purchased music (from iTunes) to sync to your nano

  • Is there a way to display movies purchased from itunes from my ipad to my apple TV without internet (still using wifi)

I am going on vacation and will have a wifi network, but no internet access. I have tried to display downloaded movies from my ipad purchased on itunes to my apple TV, but get "Unknown Error -3". I can use mirroring, but not show the video. I am signed into the same account on both devices and the movie is downloaded to the ipad. The only issue I can think of is some DRM check, but I am not sure.
Has anyone been able to do this? It would be nice to be able to use my purchased movies on vacation without needing internet.
    thanks for any help

Will the lightning to HDMI dongle work?
    thanks for any help!
This was a big advantage of AppleTV1 - generally it did not need internet authorisation for synced material on its internal drive and was great for holiday/vacation.
I tend to use a Mac Mini these days when going away.

  • HT201272 Is there a way to download previously purchased ring tones?

I there a way to download previously purchased ringtones? Purchased a new computer, and when sync'ing my iphone to the new computer I lost my previously purchased ringtones. They do not see to appear in the "purchased" listing which is songs, shows and movies???

Not sure why I received a message telling me that the ringtone I was about to purchase had already been purchased if you can't obtain from purchase history, but OK. That being the case, can ringtones be purchased on the computer rather than the phone so that the file is saved on my PC?
    Thanks for your help.

My iphone was recently stolen. Is there any way to access my purchases in itunes (without having transferred them to a computer)? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hm, good suggestion, but I've actually already done this (and I've had a friend go through the steps with me). There is just NOTHING that is showing up under any of the categories in the cloud for downloading. The thing is, I'm just not sure if I enabled cloud-sharing or not on my iphone (although I know I've backed up my data through cloud on my iphone at some point).
    Any other suggestions?

    Welcome to the club

When you purchase content from the iTunes Store it's downloaded to the storage/hard drive of the computer you purchased them on. You should have made a backup like iTunes warns you to do.
However there is some hope, I can instruct you how to recover your content from the hard drive of the dead PC, provided the hard drive ITSELF still mechanically works and if your willing to perhaps spend some money and get your hands a bit dirty.
    Recovery option:
I'm going to assume here that the PC is dead, either mechanically or the computer won't boot from the hard drive and you are willing to extract the hard drive from the computer and see if it works to get your data off.
Be gentle, disconnect the power and remove the battery before carefully opening up the PC to remove the drive.
Once you got the drive out there is a powered IDE/SATA to USB adapter for sale online for $20 that you can take that internal hard drive and use it like a external drive to access your files from another Windows machine.
Your attempting to access a Windows NTFS drive from a Mac which can't read it, you need Paragons's NTFS for Mac® OS X software installed on the Mac first before hooking up the NTFS Windows formatted drive.
Once you do that, you should be able to navigate to your Windows/Music folder and transfer the whole iTunes folder directly to the Mac desktop and also recover any other files you need as well.
    Good Luck

  • After updating to ISO 7, my ringtones I previously purchased from iTunes is not showing up on my phone

After my phone updated, I can't find my ringtones previously purchased from iTunes...I have looked in iTunes, still have my receipt from where I purchased these ringtones

Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "You always back up your iTunes library in the event that a purchased item is no longer available on the iTunes Store," (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

  • HT204074 I need to authorize my new computer to play previous purchases from itunes, I have read the support but can not find store menu topic

I am having a hard time authorizing my new computer for previous purchases on itunes.  The support suggestion to go to store menu and select authorize is not materializing anything even remotely similiar.  At the store I only see advertisement and topics at the bottom.  Can anyone guide me thru this, it really should be easier.

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • HT201272 Is there a way to download previously purchased book tapes to a computer?

I am trying to download some book tapes that I have purchased from another computer. When I go into the purchased section of itunes there is an option for books, but this is eBooks and the stuff I am trying to download is a book tape. I was wondering if anyone knew a way to get around this problem or if there even is a way around this.
    Thanks!

  • Is there an easier way to download previous purchases on itunes?

I have bought over 2000 songs from iTunes and was wondering if there was an easier way to download them onto my new computer other then going through each artist and hitting download.  I would greatly appreciate any answer because as you can tell 2000+ songs is a couple hundred artists and I was hoping to find a faster way of doing this.

Yes you can press download all for the specific artist inside of purchase history but like I said in my issue there is still hundreds of artists and you can only do up to 3 artists (which can sometimes be 30 songs) at a time before it starts to lag.  I am wondering if there is a universal download all area for all songs period in which I am yet to find and yes I went back and looked after your comment.  If this is what you meant could you elaborate more because I must have misunderstood.

  • HT1689 Is there a way to use my credit from iTunes to purchase a in app item?

I purchased a iTunes card and thought I could use it for a purchase in the application. However not able to make it. Please explain if there was another way to make the purchase using the credit from my iTunes account.

Yes except i would like it to look like the itunes album artwork screen saver does.  the itunes album artwork screen saver shows a bunch of squares and when one of the boxes changes it spins and goes to the next album artwork
what you have indicated above is kind of like a slide show where it shows you one of your pictures and zooms out to show you a collage version of another one of your pictures.  i would like it to be formatted similar to the way the itunes screen saver is.
if you click on itunes artwork on the same menu as shown in your last post, you will see what i am trying to achieve.

  • Is there a way to merge my purchases from two apple accounts

I made several song purchases with an apple ID that I had set up when I purchased an Ipod. My Ipod broke and I forgot about my apple ID and account for a while. Then when I purchased my Iphone I had set up a different appleID and account and made a few purchases with that account. I would like to install everything I purchased through both accounts but am I only able to have my phone associated with one apple ID and my purchases made with that appleID, or is there a way I can get all of my purchases merged to one apple ID account?

Any content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently, and perpetually, and eternally, and I mean like forever, tied to the account from which it was originally purchased.  Apple provides no way to move songs to a different account.
You can however put songs from multiple accounts into a single iTunes library.
