Is there a way to comunicate files on itunes with a external harddrive?

I have a a large music library. I use itunes. All the files sit on my external drive. Is there a way (when I delete files on itunes) to have the files automatically deleted on the external drive? Also, I have heard about the duplicate file option, but is there an easier way to delete duplicated files?

When you go to delete a file in the iTunes Library, apple-delete will give you the option to keep or delete the file. Note this only applies in the Library not in a playlist.
As to the duplicates: two options:

You cant switch off the power to the monitor but you can send it to sleep.
1 - Apple > System preferences > energy saver: set the monitor to sleep at the shortest duration
2 - While the second display is connected and powered on, System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement: deselect the Mirror Displays option
While the presentation plays on the secondary display, the Mac display will go to sleep as there is nothing on the screen during play, entering display sleep within seconds.

Is there a way to speed up my iTunes with 120.000 tracks?

Hi everybody, does anyone can suggest me how to speed up my iTunes? it is going very slow in all kinds of operations, not to mention importing a cd. Ok i have a quite big library - the library file is about 170MB - and a quite big archive of almost 1100GB or 120.000 tracks divided on various hard disks of 250BG. almost all the tracks are AAC imported from my record (CD) collection, wich I am converting to digital with iTunes. It all works but is becoming more slowly as i add more songs (I haven't finished my job yet...). is there anything I can do? and why iTunes is not prepared for people like me who wants to store big quantities of music on it????I can't really see the point.

P.S. - now I am working with a new Mini Mac 1.4 with 1GB ram and using an external disc (faster than the MiniMac one) Lacie 250GB 7200rpm. the music files are stored in other Lacie disks. system 10.3.9

I have the same problem. I find that the Google Mail Servers that handle that function tend to be heavily used and are usually slow both up- and downloading. Send a suggestion to Google to invest in more server capacity. Note, my Comcast mail account servers are very fast by comparison.

I know the iPhone does not support bluetooth (legally), but is there a way I can share files between the phone and a macbook NOT connected to the internet?
What I need to do is the following: I use the phone for work (bad choice, I know...) and need to be able to access e-mail and send files out. I am going to be away for a couple of weeks (I am based in the UK and going to Italy) and was thinking to use the phone for e-mailing (megabucks!!!) and the macbook to do some work that will need to be subsequently e-mailed, but as the iPhone does not support (legally at least) bluetooth, is there a way to load files onto the phone? I mean, it doesn't sound like rocket science.
I have to say, I am overall very disappointed with the iPhone as a tool to work with. Great for games, etc., but not for work. I am really tempted to toss it in the trash (or at least return it where I got it from).
I hope you can give me some good news here...
Besides as a general observation, I have been spending HOURS scouring the internet trying to find solutions to some basic issues I have with the iPhone... A piece of kit that is as expensive as all that should not be so difficult to use especially if all I am trying to get what would be considered a common feature in all bog standard phones, but that's another story... At least I have the digital compass and I can check stocks and shares to make me feel better...

I guess I'm confused then. DocsToGo and AirShare Pro both allow you to set up an adhoc network (direct wifi-based connection between the laptop and your iPhone, no wifi router/cell data connection required). You can then pass the documents back and forth between the two devices. I prefer DocsToGo, because it also allows you to edit/sync the docs back and forth. Is this not what you want to do? You can also email the document from within DocsToGo on the iPhone if desired.
If you want to upload/download using a service like DropBox (which will also require a data connection, either WiFi or cell-based) DocsToGo can access that cloud-based service.
Note that I'm NOT affiliated with DocsToGo, but I did read the instructions to find out all the stuff it can do

You reformatted the drive in your computer. The backup files you want to access were overwritten when you re-formatted the drive. They are gone. There may be data recovery services that can get them back. Search google if you want. This has absolutely nothing to do with using an iPhone at this point. You deleted files on your computer...

I want to free up disk space on my Mac and assumed that the icloud would be a good way to do this, but having 'moved' 70Gb of files to the iCloud drive (I've upgraded to 200Gb storage) my Mac is still nearly full and I've realised that it seems to just Sync files just like dropbox.

So, the big question is did the Apple guys confirm that this is how the new iCloud drive should be working? I'm guessing, from your response, that this is indeed the case. Are they going to fix this anytime soon? I thought that this was a new function of the iCloud drive in Yosemite.
I just want an online storage facility to back up my photo & music collections. I did look at Dropbox as they have a good deal going with their Dropbox Pro, however this is still just a sync service where the Master files reside on your local disk drive - although I have read that there may be a way to work around this. Still not ideal.

When you save them just make sure you save them to your Mac and not iCloud. For those that already exist, you can move them from iCloud by dragging and dropping them to somewhere else on your Mac. To see all the files in iCloud choose file > open in either pages or numbers.

There are things I like about Adobe Presenter and things I like better in Adobe Captivate. Is there a way to attach files like spreadsheets, PDFs, and Word documents in Adobe Captivate like you can in Adobe Presenter? It is real easy to do and I find it hard to imagine tha Captivate does not have an easy mechanism for doing this unlike Adobe Presenter which does it naturally.
I am working on a project that has a complicated Table of Contents that Adobe Presenter cannot handle (yet Articulate works creates TOCs without any issue). All the slides visible or none or lack of grouping options are not accpetable. So I am redoing this in Captivate. For the most part I am having no issues with the TOC but the point of this little project is to disseminate a spreadsheet to audience members that care to download it. Here is where Presenter is better since it is real simple to do this. Am I just lost in Captivate or do I need to do something "un-godly" complicated for a simple task?

I'm using Presenter too, not only Captivate. Use Presenter often as wrapper for CP-movies (if I do not need the right click functionality). And I agree: some aspects are more attractive in Presenter (thinking about the Notes panel, the automatic adaption of the languages...). But you have to miss grouping in the TOC, and for real eLearning with interactivity, branching, I go for Captivate.
If you want some features transferred to Captivate, why not filling in a feature request? The form is on the main page of these forums.
Just wanted to help you. The action 'Open URL or File' is not that complicated to use.

You and Murray have both alluded to a separate "testing"
server. Perhaps I can make this system work by setting up the
testing server as a duplicate of the development server in my site

setup like this -- it seems very common to me. I would assume most
government organizations are set up identically as us.
