Is there a way to connect an external drive to an iPad retina?
I'd like to connect my external hard drive straight to my iPad retina and just wondered if it can be done and if so how?
As James said, you can use something like the Seagate Wireless Plus. But underatand that the iPad does not have a user accessible file system like on a computer. To use this HDD, you must use Seagate's app and it is designed only for media like photos, videos, and music. It is not usable for documents and other files.

Is there a way to connect an external speaker (for another room) through the headphone port & still hear sound through the internal speakers? System Preferences/Sound/Output or Sound Effects allows you to use one or the other -- headphones or internal speakers. I would like to have the option of hearing music through the internal speakers in one room, & through an external speaker in another room at the same time. I also do not want to frequently disconnect/reconnect the external speaker from/to the headphone port as I know over time the connection could become loose. (10.7.4 Lion)
dont think so but I could be wrong
as it were I didn't like the build in audio so I connected some external logictech 2.1 speakers but there
are times when I use headset so I bought this one
or any minijack splitter will work too so I have 2 things connected to the headset port works just fine

Is there a way of knowing which external drive ejects?
Is there a way of knowing which external drive ejects?
I have several external drives and when one ejects on it's own it usually immediately restarts again and does not give me time to find which one was the problem drive.
Is there a way of figuring this out?
Thank you!No unfortunately without restoring the library and running it there is no way to tell if it is good or not.

Is there a way to plug a flash drive into the ipad
Is there a way to plug a flash drive into the ipad
That is not really what the CCK's USB connector is for and a number of folks report that there are USB memory sticks that are not accessibleto the iPad with the connector. Other folks report that sometimes they overcome that issue by using a self-powered USB hub in the daisy chain; USB stick> USB hub > iPad.
The USB connector is for cameras that can only be connected to computers/iOS devices via a USB cable. -
I've had a 24" Asus HDMI montitor for a while, and just got a 27" Apple thunderbolt display. I was wondering if there was a way to connect both of these to my mid-2012 Macbook Pro (non-retina). I know you can daisy-chain 2 thunderbolt displays, so I tried plugging my Asus into the thunderbolt display (using an HDMI to mini-display port adapter) and it didn't work. Suggestions??
Mini DisplayPort displays and adapters don't work directly with a Thunderbolt display, but will if you connect a Thunderbolt disk drive (with two Thunderbolt ports) between the Thunderbolt display and the Mini DisplayPort device.

Is there a way to connect an external esata drive to iMacbook Pro?
I am thinking of buying a new macbook pro but i would like to connect an external hd via esata. Are there any ports on the macbook pro which will allow me to do this?
Sorry but no, there aren't. It's possible that at some point someone will develop a Thunderbolt to SATA adapter, but I've not seen one announced.

Is there a way to download Adobe Flash Drive on my iPad 3?
Is there a way to download Adobe Flashdrive on my iPad3 looking to find a way to print from it?
Are you asking how to download Adobe Flash? Or how to use a flashdrive?
Adobe never made a version of Flash for iOS and has discontinued it for all mobile devices. Flash drives can be used in a limited fashion with the Camera Connection kit but only for transferring photos. If you transfer photos to your device, you can print them to an AirPrint capable printer. -
Is there a way to connect an external hard drive to the iPad 2?
I have a lot of music and movies stored on an external hard drive and want to know if there is a way to get it onto my iPad?
Connect the drive to your computer, add them to ITunes and sync to the iPad.
If you do not want them to copy to your internal drive, iTunes prefs > Advanced.
Uncheck Copy to ITunes media folder when adding to library. -
Is there any way to connect disabled iPad to network via external software?
Hello,
My iPad is disabled because of a Bluetooth mishap (my keyboard in my coat pocket tried to enter my password too many times). So I can't enter my password on the screen. Unfortunately I didn't back up the last few weeks of documents in any way, via either iCloud or syncing. And I just can't erase all the work I've done--it's irreplaceable to me.
Is there any way to connect the iPad to a WiFi network through external software, maybe using the lightning connector?
I ask because in iCloud I marked the iPad as Lost (in Find My iPhone), so I may get another chance at entering my password if the iPad can get online to receive the signal. But because it's disabled it won't connect to a network.
Many thanks for any help! Not a big surprise unfortunately... time to get an iPhone I guess!
Thanks for the answer Sir! -
Losing connection to external drives, tried disc utility got a message "No live updatin...? Retried new connections; is there a way to test the external usb hub? The drives will occasionally display in Apple profile. Any help would be deeply appreciated
It's not just you, I can't authorise my phone. It seemed to go down just after I started the update (it wasn't my fault though). I am using chrome, and it does not seem to be a firewall issue, or the bannerblock issue that I read about else where, since I dont have that program installed. Strange though how the support forum is still running. If I go to http://www.apple.com/support I get nothing, but googling topics allows me to see em.

Is there a way to update an external dictionary for services without migrating the services
Is there a way to update an external dictionary for services without migrating the services
Is there a way to update a common external dictionary used by many services without migrating each and every service that uses the dictionary. I have updated the table in the database and the external dictionary in our Development Environment. The external dictionary is used by many services. When I migrate the changed service to TEST/STAGE/PROD environments (NOTE: the table has been updated in the TEST/STAGE/PROD Databases), only the changed service is having the external dictionary updated. All other services that use the same external dictionary are NOT updated. I have the following questions
Is it possible to migrate dictionaries so that all the services which are using that dictionary are updated?
If the first one is not possible, Is there any other way to update the external dictionary without migrating all the services that use dictionary?dont think so but I could be wrong

I am thinking of buying a "new" iPad but I have a very large iPhoto library which I would like to keep intact and be able to view on my new iPad. Is there a way to use a external storage device to store the iPhoto library and view it on the iPad?
You can't use an external hard drive like you would with a computer.
You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
When you first connect the USB flash drive, you will only see thumbnails of the pics on the iPad; you have to import the pic file to see the full size. With your large library of pics, you will have to do this repeateably and then delete pics so you don't exceed your memory capacity.

Is there a way of connecting the ipad to the smart board in the classroom, so that the smartboard is the control, and the ipad is displaying what is on the smartboard? This is to help a visually impaired child see what is on the smartboard.
Absolutely!
Install Splashtop2 on the PC and enable it to be controlled or ran from iPad or Reflection to simply allow iPad to serve as PC unwired monitor. With Splashtop and an Apple TV connected, you use the smartboard as usual, yet the PC and iPad can see the same content. The impaired child can even interact with the Smart Board via the iPad as if he were writing directly on the big screen. Erasing functions can be done by touching the Smart Board manual controls. Several variables are in play that cause this lack of functionality:
Apple won't permit PC software that infringes its proprietary apps.
Smart Board companies refuse to develop iPad apps because they feel threatened and are being replaced by iPads
School districts think Apple TV is meant for copyright infringement and could expose them to safe harbor lawsuits
Network administrators make it impossible to login Apple TVs because they don't want the streaming occurring
Classrooms are not able to keep up with the technology of using the iPad
Clicker companies refuse to play with iPad because they see it as a potential threat to their core business clients
Apple is not working as hard as it could to exploit its capabilities in education, thus losing money in iPad sales
The bottom line is that we educators and technology developers are hurting our childern with petty conflicts. -
Is there a way to connect two analog mics recording in stereo to the iPad for recording?
I currently use an M-Audio Mobile Pre to connect two microphones to my MacBook Pro via USB. If I wanted to use my iPad (or even iPhone) instead, is there a way to get the stereo input into the iPad? Would the Line 6 Sonic Port sold via Apple work? Would it take 2 separate inputs and deliver stereo to Garage Band or another recording app? Or is there another way?
Exactly that -- the procedure is described in the online Help: InDesign Help | Text variables
Now every time you insert the variable named "# of potatoes", you'll see the text "50" appear (with a minimal rectangular marker to indicate it's a variable), and when you want another number of potatoes, all you have to do is adjust the text in the Variables dialog. -
Is there a way to connect the Apple TV as a second display without it automatically changing my Mac's audio output? I would prefer to use an audio interface for playback and the apple tv as a third display. I know I can go back to system preferences and swap my output back manually, but it is getting to be really inconvienient. Thoughts?
