Is there a way to connect remotely to another mac so I can help my parents?

I need to help my parents setup skype and they can't figure it out. Does anyone know of a way I can remotely connect to their mac?

Yup there are many ways. First in both computers you need to got to System Preferences - Sharing - Remote Management. Here is a You Tube video that gives you a pretty good idea on how to set it up. If you need help visit your local Apple Store, speak to a Genius and they should be able to walk you through it.

Asus has released a card, but it's only compatible with some of their motherboards. I'd guess you'll probably upgrade your Mac Pro out of need before you see a compatible card on the market.

Is there *any* way to connect 5500 to a Mac?

Is there any way I can transfer anything to and from a 5500 with a Mac running osX 10.4.9? My only luck so far has been using filebrowser, but - a big huge BUT - the music I transfer to the phone isn't showing up in the musicplayer.
My unqualified guess is that I have to use PC Suite for this. Which doesn't work when using Windows XP on Parallels either.

PC Suite may or may not work on XP under Parallels, but it works great on XP under VMware Fusion.

Cannot connect remotely from another Mac

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro from a reseller which was on display because it was the very last one in stock. Because of that fact it came with the store's user settings, usernames, etc. I changed all the settings (at least I think I did) and installed all my software without any complications but just recently I tried sharing my MB Pro screen on my wife's iMac and OS X Lion does not recognize my user name and password.
I tried sharing my wife's iMac's screen on my MB Pro and that worked without problems. I also tested sharing my old MB Pro's screen on her iMac and it worked properly! I don't know what the issue is and I'm afraid I'll have to install Lion on my new MB Pro from scratch. I mean, I don't want to go through the hassle of installing all my software, transfering my files, etc. Please help!

By WiFi Band do you mean "are they on the samen network"? Because if so, yes they are on the same network. I'm going to try creating a new user or logging in as Guest to see what results I get and will also let you know.

Install Splashtop2 on the PC and enable it to be controlled or ran from iPad or Reflection to simply allow iPad to serve as PC unwired monitor. With Splashtop and an Apple TV connected, you use the smartboard as usual, yet the PC and iPad can see the same content. The impaired child can even interact with the Smart Board via the iPad as if he were writing directly on the big screen. Erasing functions can be done by touching the Smart Board manual controls. Several variables are in play that cause this lack of functionality:
    Apple won't permit PC software that infringes its proprietary apps.
    Smart Board companies refuse to develop iPad apps because they feel threatened and are being replaced by iPads
    School districts think Apple TV is meant for copyright infringement and could expose them to safe harbor lawsuits
    Network administrators make it impossible to login Apple TVs because they don't want the streaming occurring
    Classrooms are not able to keep up with the technology of using the iPad
    Clicker companies refuse to play with iPad because they see it as a potential threat to their core business clients
    Apple is not working as hard as it could to exploit its capabilities in education, thus losing money in iPad sales
The bottom line is that we educators and technology developers are hurting our childern with petty conflicts.

System Preferences/Sound/Output or Sound Effects allows you to use one or the other -- headphones or internal speakers. I would like to have the option of hearing music through the internal speakers in one room, & through an external speaker in another room at the same time. I also do not want to frequently disconnect/reconnect the external speaker from/to the headphone port as I know over time the connection could become loose. (10.7.4 Lion)

It used to work with old Airport Extreme network, run from a intel iMac with updates thru Mavericks but now seems to only allow WEP encryption instead of WPA and can't connect to Time Capsule. Airport Extreme Base was controllable from either computer up through Snow Leopard (I didn't do any of the Lion upgrades). Then when I upgraded to Mavericks I lost the ability to use Airport Utility with this hardware on the Sunflower but could still connect wirelessly to network without any problems. But now with the Time Capsule upgrade the Sunflower is blocked from network by a dialogue that requests ony WEP password, not WPA pwd used by Time Capsule. Neither can I use the old airport extreme base to extend the time capsule network since I can't input the correct password/encryption approach to join it. Is there a work around? Would a newer but old Airport Express be able to extend network to Sunflower? Or maybe a third party wireless (such as Netgear, Dlink, etc) that has browser type control rather than special utility?
Another question--before I used MAC addresses to control who could access network. Now on Time Capsule I don't see anything about this--so is it true now that the only access control is via WPA2 pwd now (which appears to be the encryption pwd and not the time capsule pwd)?

I can’t claim to completely grasp the issue(s) you’re describing, but the underlying problem is presumably your iMac’s obsolete AirPort card. Whatever the case, an obvious (if not particularly helpful) answer to your stated question would be to connect your iMac with an ethernet cable, using powerline adapters as an alternative if you don’t want to have wire running all over the place.
My still fully functional clamshell iBook, with an original AirPort card, connects wirelessly to my 4th Generation TC network by means of a cheap 802.11b/g/n USB Wi-Fi adapter. This might be an option for you too.

That's great, but not what we want to do. I've been looking at all the boards for a solution to this and, you are correct. There isn't one - at least not one native to iOS. What I think EricB2 would like, as well as many of us, is the ability to take any audio stream (pandora, tune-in radio, etc.) and stream directly to multiple airplay devices from our iPads and iPhones without having to use the computer. Just walk into the house from the car, hit a button on the iDevice and start listening to the same stream we were listening to in the car on all of our home speakers. I know, this is like science fiction. My own opinion is that it would cut into Apples lucrative iTunes business model and really isn't in their best interest, so I don't think it will be happening anytime soon. Bottom line is if you want to use your Apple devices for whole house streaming, you need a computer and music from iTunes($$). Otherwise it's $$ out of Apples pocket.

My iPad is disabled because of a Bluetooth mishap (my keyboard in my coat pocket tried to enter my password too many times). So I can't enter my password on the screen. Unfortunately I didn't back up the last few weeks of documents in any way, via either iCloud or syncing. And I just can't erase all the work I've done--it's irreplaceable to me.
Is there any way to connect the iPad to a WiFi network through external software, maybe using the lightning connector?
I ask because in iCloud I marked the iPad as Lost (in Find My iPhone), so I may get another chance at entering my password if the iPad can get online to receive the signal. But because it's disabled it won't connect to a network.

I connect an XBox 360 to my LED Cinema display with the Belkin AV360 Mini DisplayPort Converter. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work with the Apple TV. It is limited to 720p, however.

Actually there have been reports of certain USB keyboards working through the USB adapters like the Apple Camera Connection Kit . But they are far from consistent. The best bet is to find a simple keyboard without any bells or whistles as you want one that consumes the least amount of power.
But yes there some that do work through there.
