Is there a way to customize the MacBook Air Favorites Toolbar so that each favorite looks like the real logo for that website with actual colors?  Like eBay, Google, ESPN, etc....

Is there an app or download to do this?  It's hard looking all the way across the toolbar each time I want to click on ESPN, etc.. Would be much easier if the ESPN logo was up there and easy to find.  I am currently using Mavericks.

Many of your points are totally legitimate.
This one, however, is not:
…To put it another way, the design of the site seems to be geared much more towards its regular users than those the site is supposedly trying to "help"…
The design and management of the forums for more than five years have driven literally dozens of the most valuable contributors and "regulars" away from the forums—permanently.
The only conclusion a prudent, reasonable person can draw from this state of affairs is that Adobe consciously and deliberately want to kill these forums by attrition—without a the PR hit they would otherwise take if they suddenly just shut them down.

  • Is there any way of sharing my Macbook Pro's Wifi connection to iPhone 4 (Not Using iPhone as hotspot for laptop the other way around)

So a nasty smash destroyed both Front & Back of my iPhone 4, and since having them replaced the Wifi signal has been really weak.
I have seen other posts about screen replacement having to be done by going through the antenna, so something could be missing, or done incorrectly during the screen repair. Will definately be taking it back to the shop and finding out if It was put back together properly.
In the meantime I was wondering if it is possible to share my Macbook Pro's Wifi (always full signal in my house) directly to my iPhone either using USB cable or through bluetooth. It's not been too much of a problem but it would be nice to use my iPhone in bedroom using the Macbooks good signal.
Note: The replacement front screen on iPhone has a small gap >1mm between the screen and centre metal casing on the left side just above the Silent/Loud Switch, which can be noticed by light leaking through the gap. The metal casing also still has a small dent between the volume down buttons and silent/loud switch, again nothing drastic 1mm maximum

Here is the start of the setup:
Click on the Wi-Fi Options button and provide the needed info:
Click on the OK button. Now check the Internet Sharing box to turn it all on. If the port box you checked is no longer checked, then uncheck Internet Sharing, check the port box again, then check the Internet Sharing box again.

    This will do the trick.
    Drive Preparation
    1.  Boot from Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
When formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Complete the OS X installation.

  • Does the Macbook Air need a protective case to avoid scratches?

Hi.. My husband gave me a MacBook Air 11" for Christmas. I would like to ask if there is a need to put a protective case over it to avoid scratches. Also read reviews from MBA owners that putting a protective case makes the MBA heat up faster. I'm planning to get the iGlaze Moshi and considering its quite pricey, I would like your advice if there is really a need to have a protective case. Thanks!

    Hi Calcarballo.
    Many thanks for your question.
As a user of a 2013 MacBook Air I have used Specks Shell for my MacBook Air and I cannot see a difference in heat. I bought the Speck 13" SmartShell Case for the MacBook Air and personally I am happy. It keeps the font screen clean from dirt and minor scratches and the bottom safe and clean. Personally, the Shell cases will not be a massive benefit if you throw your MacBook Air around but it does add a layer of protection.
Highlights of the Specks Case include:
Durable, ultra-thin hard shell protects from scratches and scuffs
Sleek, glossy two-piece design is easy to put on and take off
Anti-tilt rubberized feet keep your MacBook stable and secure
The website for the SmartShell is here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/HD623ZM/A/speck-11-smartshell-case-for-macbook -air?fnode=50&fs=f%3D11inchmacbookair%26fh%3D36c2%252B2c0a
If you were looking for supreme protection, I would look at a Thule 11" Gauntlet Envelope Case. I have this case for the MacBook Air 2013 13" and it is way more protective, it is an envelope that is tapered to provide a perfect fit and safeguards your MacBook Air.
    Highlights of this envelope include:
Tapered shape provides a precise fit for MacBook Air
    Stitch-free, heat-welded seams
Semi-rigid EVA foam construction creates a glove-like fit and the padded protection of a sleeve
Nylex-lined interior lets MacBook easily slide in and out, preventing scratches
The website for the envelope is here: http://store.apple.com/au/product/H9933ZM/A/thule-11-gauntlet-envelope-case-for- macbook-air
Basically the choice is yours. The Protective case - the iGlaze Moshi and Speck's SmartShell will provide some protection against scratches and scruffs, but will not save your MacBook on big drops therefore do not utilise these SmartCases as an excuse to make sure your MacBook is safe. Your envelope will provide more protection but it is not as practical as the SmartCase.
    The Choice is yours!
Many Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

  • I Bought the MacBook Air...  and returned it, and returned it again, etc...

Thank you for everyones help here in helping make my decision on buying the MacBook Air. I decided to buy one. So the story goes I ended up buying and returning 3 different MacBook Air with the SSD because they all had the grey lines. Very frustrating to say the least. After I returned the last one I happened to be visiting Best Buy the same day. They had a MacBook Air HDD version on display. This particular one had no lines and looked very nice. As a side note, the lines are a deal breaker for anyone wondering. I use Word and Pages a lot, and the grey lines are an easy distraction against the white background.
I ended up looking at the serial number and display manufacturer information on the MacBook Air that was on display at BestBuy. The panel number was 00009C8F and the serial number indicated it had been built in week 53 of 2008. Fortunately the lock up cage for the MacBook Air was right beneath the table the computer was displayed on. They had a brand new one in stock with the same build week, but it was a HDD version. I had already made my mind up that I was buying the MacBook Air with SSD, but after the experience at the Apple Store (buying and returning 3 different ones) I was going to try the on-line store. I thought what the heck do I have to lose. I bought it! I got it home powered it on, and the screen had no grey lines! YAHOO! In addition, after using the HDD version for a couple hours I think I saved myself $700. I could not tell the difference in speed (except in cold boot times, marginally) between the SSD and the HDD.
In conclusion, I wonder if the SSD has something to do with the grey lines. It is more of a conspiracy theory at this point, but I got my MBA without grey lines and I am happy! Thanks for everyones help in provide buying information.

    Hi Soft Reset,
I do agree with you that it is not hardware related to the hard drive type. I just could not believe that I could not find an SSD without problems. Like I stated though, I was pleasenty surprised by the performance of the HDD version. In the end I think I saved $700, but to reiterate, I am just using office, internet, and e-mail. Therefore the SSD is really not a neccessity. If they come out with a REV C and a bump in SSD sizes, I will probably sucomb to upgrading. Thanks again!

  • AppleWorks last ran under 10.6; I have 10.8 on the MacBook Air.  Is it possible to load a copy of 10.6 to use as a separate startup disk so that I can have access to AppleWorks on the MacBook Air?

Like many, I have been a Mac user since the original little guy, and have tons of documents created under Claris Works and AppleWorks.  I can still run AppleWorks under 10.6 on my wife's iMac (Intel chips), but not the 10.8 that came with the MacBook Air.  On older machines, I could load and select different versions of the OS as different startup disks.  Would this be possible on the MacBook Air to be able to retain operational access to the AppleWorks software and all those files I have accumulated?

The answer to your question is YES: to run Appleworks on your MBA, install Snow Leopard Server into Parallels 8 for concurrent access to and use of Appleworks in Mt.Lion:

  • Is there a way to customize the web form link in Adobe FormsCentral?

The dedicated link has a quite complicated address, not easily added to brochures to hand out.  Is there a way to customize the web form link in Adobe FormsCentral?

It cannot be customized. The workaround is to create your own web page and embed our form into it. That way they only see your URL.

  • Is there any way i can get something to connect to the macbook air since it doesn't have a CD slot?

i wanted to know if theres anything i can purchase something in addition to the macbook air computer that can allow me view a CD since there is no CD slot for this particular computer?

APple sells a "matching" drive, but any external USB drive will do.

You can also use DVD or CD Sharing. This convenient feature of OS X lets you wirelessly “borrow” the optical drive of a nearby Mac or PC. So you can install applications from a DVD or CD and have full access to an optical drive without having to carry one around.

  • Is there a way to customize scale quantize?

Is there a way to customize scale quantize? In other words, is there a way I can create my own constraining scales?

    Yes..
    Create a new Project
Go to the Project Settings screen via the menu option File: Project Settings : Tuning
Select Fixed and then click on the dropdown menu as highlighted above
Now you will see a long list that includes the following as examples...
If the Hungariian Scale isn't included (I didn't see it specifically but it may be hidden away in the long list...
Then you can click on the User option and create your own tuning scale....

  • Is there a way to stream my macbook pro audio through itunes to basestation

Hey I love to stream my itunes through the basestation but, is there a way to stream my macbook pros audio so I can hear things playing from my safari or final cut or whatever other program to the speakers in airport??? Thanks

Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil should do just what you want. I use if for streaming things like Slacker and Pandora through my Airport Express. It's not free but it's well worth the price. You can try it out for a few minutes (then the sound degrades) to see if it works for you.

I have a first generation iPad and got my husband the iPad 2 for xmas.  is there a way to transfer his tiny tower game from my iPad to his without using the same iTunes account?

Apps are only tied to one account... You can set up two iTunes accounts on your computer, however, and let his iPad sync to his account. If he has never backed up his apps to a computer, however, he will have to redownload all the apps. Afterwards, he can backup to iCloud instead of your computer.

it has worked fine no problems till i updated it i tried restoring itwith my old backup but it doesnt move the ios back so it just keeps on craching when i try to unlock it

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple
