Is there a way to delete emails in a batch instead of individually?

I keep getting a ton of emails on the I Pad even after I delete them they just keep coming back. Is there a way to delete them like "select all" or something similar?

You can select multiple emails at a time for deletion, but there is no option to delete all email from an account's Inbox mailbox at once.
If the account is an IMAP or Exchange account, delete all email from the account's Inbox mailbox with the email client on your computer used for accessing the account or via webmail access for the account using a browser on your computer. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP or Exchange account are kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.

Go to the mailbox tab in the Mail application and selecting "synchronize iCloud". Whenever you delete mail from one of your devices it will automatically delete from the others--within iCloud.

Blackberry email works very differently to iPhone email. All email on Blackberry devices goes through RIMs servers so it can be deleted independently of the mail on the original server.
The iPhone talks directly to the email accounts original server like a computer email client does, so you're manipulating mail directly on the server without going through an intermediary. Therefore whatever actions you do on your iPhone are actually done directly on the mail server.

Hi,
You can highlight a chat by the list in the left of the main window and then use the File Menu > Delete conversation
Using the x only dismisses the chat from view.
Individual iMessages can be deleted one at a time by clicking on a Bubble but not the text (you will see bubble and text change in colour slightly) and then the Backspace key.
It is not possible to Clear in any way all the chats/conversation in the left hand list.

There isn't a "delete all" function on the iPhone. If your email account is an IMAP or exchange account, the best approach is to go to the webmail site for your email provider and delete them there.

No - Diplicate Annihilator does not "accidently" duplicate anything - in fact is does not change anything - it simply identifies duplicates and markes them so you can easily deal with them
and iPhoto does not duplicate photos - randomly, accidently or on purpose - duplicate photos are the result of user action like importing an iPhoto library into another iPhoto library (NEVER do that), telling iPhoto to importa all rahter than selected or other user errors

Why is there no way to delete all emails from my iphone? IOS 7.1. Every other phone in the market allows you to 'select all' then delete.
This trick of selecting one, then holding move, then unchecking (and subsequently moving all the emails to trash) doesn't work. I've read these suggestions and while it appears to work the emails just show up again once you leave and return to the inbox. Perhaps it worked on an older version of IOS.
It blows my mind this is not a standard function. I get a few hundred emails at work every day, and most of the time I just want to delete all of them from the phone as I've read them already. Currently it seems i can only click edit and then have to check each email individually to be able to delete them at the same time; this is the definition of tedious. I would think there are millions of other iphone users who get their company email on their phones that must experience the same thing. It seems now i either spend 20 minutes a day deleting emails, or just let thousands of emails accumulate on the phone (taking up space and also making it hard to just review the most recent emails which is all I want to be able to do when checking email on my phone).
I am hoping I am just missing some simple solution here that everyone else uses. Please help!!

Only Apple could answer as to why there is no "select all/"delete all" function in the iOS mail app. Users have been bemoaning this lack of functionality for years now. Like everyone else, you can submit feedback to. Apple here.

While I understand the whole idea of being able to use the phone on the run, if you have an IMAP email account, and if you have access to a computer at work during the day, use your "select all" function on the server and delete all of the unwanted email there and it will be removed from the phone as well.
That doesn't solve the problem on the phone, but it gets rid of the email which is your ultimate goal anyway.

Here's how: >> Open Inbox >> Edit >> Check/select the top message; it will highlight the move button. >> Press and hold the move button and uncheck the message that you had checked earlier. >> Lift all your fingers off from the ipad screen and leave it alone. Wait until all your messages pile up on the right hand portion of the screen (in ipad); iphone will give you the actual number of emails it has selected for the action. Now they are just waiting for your command to be moved ALL at once. >> Choose trash to delete all of them or any other folder where u want to move them, like one piece. Remember this will replicate your action on the server so you will ACTUALLY move them or delete them on the server and not just the ipad. Once you have moved all messages to the trash you can either leave them there for the scheduled cleaning or empty it right away by doing this: go to trash folder and touch Edit. The Delete All button shows up at the bottom of the screen. Hit it! You’re done! If you do not see the effects of your actions on the server make sure you have enabled your email accounts for such actions.

If you sort them by their read/unread status by clicking that column header, they will be grouped together in the mailbox list, making it easier to select them together.
You could also create a Smart Mailbox with the criteria set to Message Is Unread, resulting in a Smart Mailbox that only contains unread messages. Then you just Select All and Delete.

If it's an iCloud email account, go to icloud.com from your computer. Then you can select email by clicking the first, then shift-clicking that last and pressing your delete key. Don't try to delete more than about 500 at a time or it will probably hang.
If it's a different email provider, go to their webmail site and do the same thing.
