Is there a way to directly watch movies from a NAS without iTunes on Mac
Its not pretty that my iMac must still running while I watch some movies.
As Chenks says... just create a genre for them.... just RT-Click on the home movies (can actually multi-select all of then and do them all at once) and change the genre to "home" or whatever you'd like and then when you go to AppleTV go to Genres > "Home" and they will all appear together there.

HT1551 Airplay problems trying to watch movies from another player besides itunes.
I just bought my apple tv and want to watch movies from my macbook without mirroring my whole computer screen. Is it possible to do that? Do I have to use itunes to airplay movies? I use a VLC player to watch movies and it does not give me an air play button. So the only way to watch my HD movies is to miror my whole computer screen and then it doesnt even give me audio. Audio only works with quicktime player with mirroring. Any tips/suggestions? And I have apple tv 3 it wouldnt give me the option to select it.
iTunes is the only app that can airplay natively, everything else is via mirroring. In terms of 3rd party apps there is one called beamer, it has a trial so you can see if it works for your needs.

is there a way i can add music from my iphone to itunes without paying
If the content was purchased via iTunes, either redownload it via iTunes on the computer or transfer purchases from the device tot he computer. With the device connected, select File > Transfer Purchases.
If the content was not purchased via iTunes, copy it from the computer that it was originally synced to the device to the new computer. -

Is there a way to separate home movies from the movies category?
I want to put home movies on my Apple TV but don't want them to show up along with movies. Is there a way to separate them? I haven't tried it yet so maybe they are separated but I foresee not being possible right now.
For the moment, I've been streaming my home movies from .macAs Chenks says... just create a genre for them.... just RT-Click on the home movies (can actually multi-select all of then and do them all at once) and change the genre to "home" or whatever you'd like and then when you go to AppleTV go to Genres > "Home" and they will all appear together there.

Is there a way to recover deleted videos from my iphone without buying software
Need to recover deleted videos off my iphone, the files are present but unable to restore without buying software. Is there a way restore videos without buying extra software?
Thanks for replying - no, I had not done a backup since the shots were taken and then attemped to put them in an album as I did not want to change the enviornment of the phone from when I had inadvertently delted them. Unfortunatlely, when asked "Do you want to delete these photos from all locations," I hit yes and they were also deleted from my Photostream.

Is there a way to transfer a movie from my 64 gig ipod to my 16 gig ipad thru wifi?
My issue is my new Ipad is only 16 gig and can only hold 1 or 2 movies at best so syncing them will not work.
If there's a way for them to talk to each other and share files this would be a great help.
THX
TLZ001The fastest and easiest way to transfer these files is by using Dropbox. This application has around 5GB of free transfer capacity; any more than that, and there's a charge. In other words, keep your Dropbox transfers under the limit, and take your time.
I know you can transfer between an iPad and iPod Touch, but I'm not sure you can do the same with other iPods. If you have a desktop or laptop Mac, things would be less complicated. -

So I bought the 2.66GHz, 20-inch iMac yesterday from a JB Hi-Fi outlet and got the RAM upgraded from 2 to 4 gig which was performed in store and seemed fine. When I got the computer home, set it up according to the user manual (just to be sure) and s
