Is there a way to disable usb sync?

I have several corporate iphones that will contain sensitive data. We do not want the data on these units to be synced with unauthorized computers? Is there a way to disable usb hard wire sync?

In iTunes go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced and select the option to prevent automatic syncing of iDevices when plugged in.

You can set a four digit passcode as well as impose restriction codes for using specified apps. All is explained in the user manual.

  • Is there any way to disable USB charging on N8?

It might be a strange question. But many time, my battery still nearly full and I just want to transfer a couple of files. When I plug the cable in, it start charging right away. This may makes battery deteriorate faster. Therefore, is there any way to disable USB charging? Thanks!

charging by usb isn't a problem , modern batteries do not suffer 'memory effect' just do what you want to do and don't worry about it . My N97 is connected to laptop most nights for anything from 10 minutes to an hour , no battery problem in 18 months and left on charge overnight every night . Enjoy your new phone and don't worry about a problem that doesn't exist

  • Is there a way to disable program sync calls for filesystem writes?

First of all I'm only 80% sure I know what I'm talking about with some of these terms regarding how the kernel handles file operations.  If I get something wrong pointing me to documentation to help me understand would be appreciated.
So I'm setting up Arch on a USB key as sort of a rescue disk/use Linux when I'm not allowed to install install Linux on the computer (like at my inlaw's house) solution.  I'm still early enough in the process that starting over is fine.  I'm going to be using this for a full Arch system, that does things like run pacman updates and a very lightweight Xorg GUI setup.
Right now I'm going with btrfs, but some other file system that's at least as stable would be fine as well.
One of the things I'm wanting to have for this is to have as few rewrites to the USB key as possible, while at the same time be workable on computers that have limited RAM.  I'm thinking that if I could tell the kernel to only write to the USB key when it has to, such as running out of memory, unmounting, or shutting down, then that would be one way to accomplish that.  Is there any way to do that?  I would prefer it to be something I can set when I mount a given drive, but if it has to be system wide that would be acceptable as well as long as I could still sometimes run a swap file properly on the computer's hard disk (if I'm in a situation where I am able to do so).  The important thing is that the individual programs don't actually write to the disk when they send a sync call to the kernel, because I'm thinking most programs won't be able to be configured to work the way I want them to directly.
I understand that this means I would lose everything "written" since the last flush to the drive, but that's fine by me.  Having a way to explicitly have me (as root) say "OK, now flush changes to disk" would be useful as well, but not necessary.

In iTunes go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced and select the option to prevent automatic syncing of iDevices when plugged in.

  • Is There a Way to Force a SYNC/BACKUP of the IPHONE

Hi All. Thanks again for the help on the logo stuck issue. Is there a way to force a sync/backup of the phone so if another restore is necessary the backup is recent and can recover the phone? Thanks all.

This is close to the problem I'm having. My husband let someone at work "update" his program and the goober deleted everything. I can only get a screen that has itunes logo and a usb cable picture. When I try to sync it Itunes doesn't bring up the phone on the left side. It doesn't recognize it at all. Can someone please tell me what I need to do? I've already tried reinstalling itunes, I've tried to sync on another computer and all I get is that itunes screen on my phone.

  • Is there a way to disable previously viewed iMessages from appearing as Messages notifications when waking my MacBook Pro from sleep?

Is there a way to disable previously viewed iMessages from appearing as Messages notifications when waking my MacBook Pro from sleep?  Regardless of whether I am using iMessage from  my iPhone or iPad, when I open my MBP, I get attacked by Messages notifications for iMessages I've obviously already seen or responded to.  Is there a way to change this?  Are others having this issue?
Additionally,  previous iMessages sent or received from those  devices sometimes don't populate into the Messages window on the MBP.  I haven't been able to identify when or what causes this; sometimes it just doesn't seem to work (and I verified that the messages sent/received were, in fact, iMessages and not SMS).
Thanks - any help or insight would be appreciated!

First you need to determine what laptop model you have; then we can help you. A Mac Book Pro cannot run OS 9.1.
With your Mac booted up, click on the  at the far left of the menu. Then click on About This Mac. It will show what version of OS  you are running. What is the version?
A MBP will be running something like version 10.x.
If you are running version OS 9.x, you don't have a Mac Book Pro.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Is there a way to disable push mail from Yahoo? It's draining my battery

I'm on the prepaid plan and every 10-15 minutes my iphone turns on with a "The last transaction cost $0.00" message. I don't mind the message (although it is a bit annoying) but my problem is that this turns the LCD on for about 2 minutes at a time.
I charged my battery to 100% last night, haven't used it at all today and after just turning it on a few minutes ago I had the "Your battery life is at 10%" message followed by a 5% remaining message a few minutes later.
I've heard that it's the yahoo push mail service thats causing the phone to give the message (since it connects to the internet). My Yahoo account is my main one and I'd hate to have to login to yahoo's site each time to check it (the email functionality was a big selling point for me with the iphone). ATT/Apple don't seem to want to disable this message/"Feature", so I'm guessing I would need to step in and do something on my end.
Is there any way to disable yahoo mail from "pushing" messages to my phone? I can hit the Check Mail button if I have to.

    Hi Everyone,
To give an update on the situation: I disabled the Yahoo account and it seems to make a VERY NOTICEABLE difference in battery life - prior to this my battery would drain quite rapidly but since disabling it it's only lost about 15-20% over the past 24 hours (and thats with using the video/music/internet functions for about an hour and a half).. Prior to this it would have been close to drained under the same circumstances.
Also, to confirm, the "Your last transaction cost 0.00" messages only appear when accessing the internet manually now. before they appeared every 10-15 minutes with no interaction from myself at all (while it was sitting idle, while watching videos, while charging, while in my pocket, etc..)
I do have it set to only check Manually but Yahoo would seem to check on it's own even though this setting is checked (I'm guessing it has to do with the Push setting). Aside from draining the battery, it was quite annoying having 30 or so "Your transaction cost $0.00" messages to click through whenever I turned on the phone.
I did have the screen set to shut off after 1 min, but the 'your transaction cost..' messages would first wake the iphone up, the screen would stay bright for about 30 seconds, dim for about 30 seconds, then turn on bright again for 1 minute until it shut off. I'm guessing the screen (being on for about 10-15 minutes per hour due to this) and the fact that yahoo accesses the internet on such a frequent basis are what cut the battery life down.
I really wish I could make Yahoo work more like Gmail and have it manually search for new mail

    Hi,
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your original Audio Driver ( ie Conexant, IDT etc ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
    Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

  • In keynote 2.0, is there a way to disable clicking to the next slide?

I'm trying to create a Jeopardy template that lets the user click on the board to choose a question but I can't get it to stop moving forward one slide when someone click on the background of the question. Is there a way to disable that like in Powerpoint? I want to create clickable objects instead but if someone misses them by accident it could mess up the game.

In the Document Inspector, in the Presentation dropdown menu, choose "Hyperlinks only". This option allows navigation of the presentation solely through explicit hyperlinks.
