Is there a way to display a list entry by entry, one at a time?

Basically I wish to show a long list of names one after the other with the previous entry disapearing bofore the new one follows.
I need to have multiple instances of this happening at the same time, with different lists.
It would be great to be able to read the text from a file or maybe find a way to import the text as multiple text boxes to allow this to happen.
Any ideas?

This sounds complicated but its straight forward.
select the first name in the text document
drag and drop the name from the text document onto the Keynote slide, this creates an individual text box
repeat for each name creating a separate text box for each name
select all the text boxes
go to Inspector > Animate > Build In >Add an Effect and select an animation
(Inspector is the side panel on the right hand side of  the slide canvas)
change Delivery to:  By Paragraph
go to the Build Out tab > Add an Effect and select an animation
change Delivery to:  By Paragraph
click the build order button
in the build order list, pair up the text boxes by drag and drop, so each name has a build in then a build out in the list.
In the image below, the first two names have been paired, the others have still to be arranged:

  • I have "doubles" of all my songs in my library.  Is there a way to delete the "extra" without doing it one at a time?

I have "doubles" of all songs in my library due to my ignorance about transferring from old computer to new.  Is there a way to delte all of the extras without doijng it one-by-one?

I have tried rebooting, but everything was still frozen afterward.  I've considered doing a restore on the computer, but that would probably wipe all of my saved information out as it's never been connected with the computer before. Also, during a restore, it asks you to confirm information on your iphone screen, which is impossible to do with it being frozen.

  • ITunes lost all of my files on the external drive, thousands of songs.  Is there a way to load them back in without doing one at a time?

I've just updated the lates iTunes, and now it seems to have lost all of my music.  I have thousands of songs on an external drive, none of them can be found...the songs are in multiple folders on the external drive so the media folder to the external folder doesn't fix the problem...iTunes isn't seeing songs that are in different folders with sub folders.  Is there a way to have iTunes discover the music on the external drive to avoid reloading each of them one at a time?

When you first download iTunes onto a PC, it will give you the option to allow iTunes to search for your music. I'd suggest removing iTunes from your PC, connecting your external drive and then download iTunes from scratch. I'm pretty sure if you let it, it will find the music for you.

  • Is there a way of getting a list of upcoming alerts/alarms and their times?

I'd like to get a list of alert times, so that I can see if I have any that will be going off in the middle of the night!
Many months back, I purged those pesky midnight alerts by scrolling through week by week and looking for the all-day events and checking each one. It was a chore.
Now, due an odd synching issue between iCal and an app, I'm a tad concerned that some late night alerts may have been set, or PMs may have changed to AMs, or other oddities introduced. I'd like to scan a list of alerts for the next several months to ensure that none are set to go off during the sleeping hours!
Just browsing events (say week by week) doesn't help me because they could have alerts set for all sorts of different times (or no alerts at all). If there isn't a way of listing the alerts, then I'll have to go through each individual event/to do to check its alert and time-- and there are hundreds!
    Hope this makes sense.

Try this in Script Editor - the list of alarms will be in the result pane.

click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">tell application "iCal"
    set Alarming to ""
set MyCalendars to every calendar where writable of it is true
    repeat with ThisCal in MyCalendars
set MyEvents to events of ThisCal
    repeat with ThisEvent in MyEvents
repeat with ThisAlarm in (display alarms of ThisEvent) & (sound alarms of ThisEvent)
set AlarmTime to (start date of ThisEvent) + (trigger interval of ThisAlarm)
set GotOne to ((name of ThisCal) & ": " & (summary of ThisEvent) & ": " & (start date of ThisEvent as string) & " alarm " & trigger interval of ThisAlarm as string) & " minutes."
set Alarming to Alarming & GotOne & return
    end repeat
    end repeat

  • Is there a way of displaying  the various item in my Downloads folder as icons arranged in order of Date Created, such that the most recent items appear at the bottom, rather than the top?

Is there a way of displaying  the various item in my Downloads folder as icons arranged in order of Date Created, such that the most recent items appear at the bottom, rather than the top? I know this can be done when they are displayed as a list, but I want icons!

    Hi geezer,
when you open your 'Downloads' folder choose 'View'  in the Menu bar and choose:
    'as List'
    'Show View Options'
In 'View options' window you tick:
    'Always open in list view'
    'Date Modified', or
    'Date created'
Now inside the 'Downloads' folder click on 'Date Created' (or 'Date Modified')
column to get items alined from oldest to newest date (or reverse)…

I'm currently dealing with this issue myself, except that my rMBP has NO articles in the reading list.  It's a brand new rMBP too, purchased just this week, with the 2.6 Ghz Processor & 16GB of RAM.
Let's see what we can find.  I may just take it back to the Apple Store.

    Thanks to all.

Actually, I noticed in "More Like This" questions similar to mine.  One of the suggestions worked perfectly.
Command Shift 4 turns the arrow into a target scope.  Use it to take a screen shot of the area you want printed.  Thanks to all.

  • Is there a way to make a list of songs that I plan on buying in the future?

I constantly see songs that I want to buy on the iTunes store, but then end up forgetting them before I get money to buy them. Is there a way to make a list on the store so that when I come back in the future, I can just pick the songs off of that list?

Sure, pen & paper will work, but if it's in a wishlist, you just click on the arrow and don't have to type things all over again.

  • Is there a way to display multiple iPad screens on the same television screen simultaneously?

Is there a way to display multiple iPad screens on the same television set concurrently?  The idea is to let multiple individuals do something on their iPads in a timed window and then display the results of each iPad users answer concurrently on te same television.

Devices that display two, four, or even eight video signals on a single monitor are available in the video security market. Maybe you could find something there that would do what you want. A quick search on "security tv screen multiplexor" (without the quotes) yielded millions of pages; several on the first page looked promising if you don't mind composite video.

  • Is there a way to display the date and time on my officejet 6500

HP Officejet 6500a Plus Windows XP_ Is there a way to display the date and time on the display of my printer

Are you referring to the Date and Time some cameras put right on the image?  If so there is nothing really good in iPhoto to do this. You could try the Retouch tool and see how that looks but I think you will need something more precise and powerful, like the clone tool in Aperture.
Also something like PhotoShop or GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program (free) should do what you want also.
If your asking about some other date post back.
    regards

Is there any way to print a list from ipod 60gb video (either from the itunes screen or from my documents)? I'd really like to be able to see what I already have without having my ipod plugged in. Thanks!

Boy I feel stupid! I really thought I'd checked the drop down menus. Oh well. Thanks!

is there any way to display filenames or captions for photos?

Thanks. There are so many it's very hard to see which one does what. Since I edit  on the MacBook Pro using Photoshop Elements, all I really need is a way of seeing the filenames, and secondarily re-arranging thumbnails on the iPad screen manually.

  • Is there a way to sort subscriber list by Surname?

Is there a way to sort subscriber list by Surname?
Currenty it is sorted by Full name, sorting by first name alphabetically.I would prefer it to sort by surname.

    Hi,
Not within the system unfortunately.  The workaround is to export the report and manually separate the full names into first and last name columns to achieve what you are after.
This is currently on our wishlist to enhance in the future.
    Kind regards,
