Is there a way to do a proper index in a book?

Hi all,
Does iBooks Author offer an index feature? [Not a glossary!]
One where a writer might, for example, highlight a word or phrase, select add to index, and the app compiles and creates an index section with page numbers etc? I can see this being pretty important for text book authors. InDesign offers such a feature and it's who my wife (writer/editor) has done it in the past. I have not been able to find said feature in iBooks Author, and that's making her nervous. Thanks.

Sub Problem:
I am making an array of quads of all the hyperlinks in a document. I would like to automatically skip over all the bookmarks in the starting pages of a document and just get the links of the hyperlinks.
Now I have to manually set the pages that contain bookmarks so they are not included in the array.
Is there any way to determine if a link is a book mark or hyperlink in java script?
It would help automate the conversion I need below

Main Problem:
I have been working on converting a set of pdf files with 1000’s of hyperlinks like www.site.com\folder1\file1.pdf#page=10
To jump to a local copy of the files with a relative type link
../folder1/file1.pdf and then go to the proper page.
I have found that it can be done manually by changing the hyperlink to a javascript

and setting each destination file with a disclose()=true;

I have resorted to the following plan using acrobat javascript, an external keyboard macro recorder and excel in combination to get around the problem
Four folder level acrobat javascripts with “buttons”
One to get all the link quads in an array, in the pdf and report the total number
The second creates a form field in the far corner of the first page and moves there.
The third jumps to each link found by creating a form field just to the left of the link and zooms in so it can be selected by a “mouse click” from the keyboard macro recorder
The forth deletes the form field
The keyboard macro recorder runs javascript 2 and then 3 then clicks on the link just to the right of the middle of the screen and uses keys to get to the advanced editing to get to edit the hyperlink .
The hyperlink is then copied to excel where it is converted using string functions to the needed javascript text to be copied back.
To the acrobat file into a java script (after deleting the hyperlink)
Rinse/lather/repeat
I have been able to convert about 150 links an hour.
Better then hand typing, but not like having java access to the links.
I am looking to improve the solution

I may have been confusing a "acrobat bookmark" and a bookmark in a word file that is converted to a pdf and ends up being a
link of the type:
"Go to a page in this document"
which I do not want in my array vs
a link of the action type:
"Open a web link"

There is no playlist for iBooks, butther eis nothing to preent you from choosing to download specific titles from itunes, or syncing just specific titles to an individual device.

I'm making the book for children and there is one chapter providing coloring pages. So I wish to attach pdf files that allow users to download it at the end of chapter so that they can print it out. Been searching through discussion, I've found some advice about taking screen snapshot page-by-page > then send the pics from photo album to email. However, I'm wondering if there's a way that make the process easier.

unless apple provides tools and guideline/tutorials, you will have to copy+paste.
but that is very limited because html snippet display your code in an iframe, which means static size, dead zone, can't inject code onto your page and you can't do anything complex.
with real iweb widgets, you can do away with all the above.

Create a filter with the rule From + isn't in my address book + Personal Address Book (or choose another) and an Action, 'Move message to' (choose the folder).

Is there a way to use OS 10.6.8 Address Book v.5.0.3 with Lion

I find Lion Address Book v.6.1 information restrictive when it opens, in that it only shows the book itself. Snow Leopard shows the groups, and when "All" is selected we see a lot more addresses as well as being able to scroll to all addresses, whereas with Lion's Address Book v.6.1, one has to flip trough all the pages of the book to see all addresses.
Hence my question, is there a way to use Address Book v.5.0.3 with Lion. Or is there a way to modify Lion's Address Book v.6.1 to "look" like v.5.0.3?

I have noticed this too, i.e. the captured background is BMP, and the capture images are PNG. For example, my command line terminal window backgrounds are 4070.57K versus about 32K to 65K when I convert them to PNG files. Our demonstration files can be enormous because of the BMP backgrounds. It would definitely be advantageous to have a recording setting for PNG versus BMP for the backgrounds in Captivate.

Is there any way to prevent the child indexes from merging in the master project?

I have created a master project using Robohelp 8 and currently have 2 child projects, but this is going to expand.
I would like the indexes to be assigned to the child projects only, rather than sharing one index across all of them. Is this possible?

I once jerry-rigged a project by linking a book to the start file of a child project within the merged project folder. That way only the child project launched when you clicked the link. However, since that project was also merged, the child topics also displayed in that folder. It was the only way I could think of to have it both ways, with merged and un-merged projects all in one. This was back in RH6 days. They may have come up with a way to isolate searches and indexes since, but I haven't needed to look for it.
If not, and you're just trying to narrow the search, this might work for you. However, the child index is still going to merge with the parent in the larger project.

What you ask may be possible for "a publishing house", aggregator or educational departments,etc, but for the basic single user paid books account... it is not.
There has been a few thread starters on this subject - so a search of this and other iBooks Author related groups - maybe you may find information.
There is a post about an higher education school wanting a group of students to each create a chapter, unlike a lot of web design software and othe similar multiuser software which allows group input, iBooks Author does not and the only way was for each student ot have a copy of the iBA file... create a chapter and for the "leader" to gaver the various chapters and by copy and paste - assemble into a complete book.
It may be advisable to contact iBooks support and ask if there is such a facility for multi users within a basic paid books account.

The reports flag differences so you can tell when an app was redeemed/gifted vs. purchased. There is no provision to track individual codes, however, sorry.

Delete the problem books from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Books and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your books there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support. In rare cases you may need to refer to the publisher.

Sure
Select the book and duplicate (command-D) in case of problems - then click on change themes and select the current theme and new size -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
Be very careful since it is common for text to reflow and maybe be cut off if you make the book smller

Internet Explorer is not available for Mac.
But you can make Safari pretend to be Internet Explorer in some cases.
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
    Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
    "Develop" menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
    Click Develop, move mouse down to "User Agent".
    Select Internet Explorer from popup on the rightside.
    After using Internet Explorer, revert back to Safari, doing the same routine.
