I have been trying to backup my text messages so that they are in a readable format on my computer so that I can read them or print them. I have a number of pictures that have been sent and some important conversations I need to save; however, they are taking up a lot of memory on my phone and I would like to delete them, but still have access to them on the computer. I downloaded a free program called Appandora, but it locked up every time it started to save the second text message thread. The one that it did save was in a .txt file and was very difficult to read. I do understand that the texts are backed up when the phone is backed up, but I want them in a readable accessible file. Is there some way to make the iPad Camera Connection Kit work on the iPod touch?

I bought the Camera Connection Kit because a tech said it would work with my iPod Touch, but I get the message that the iPod does not support that connection. I would really like itt to work because I have used an older iPod to back up photos while on vacation. I would simply connect the camera up to the iPod and it would download all the photos from the camera. It was an excellent way not to have to buy lots of SD cards. This kit has a slot for an SD card and I could copy directly from that. So if anyone out there knows how I could make it work, I'd appreciate your input.

Is your MacBook Pro new? Did it come with Lion preinstalled? If not do you have the iDVD application in the Applications folder?
If not I suggest you purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from Amazon.com or eBay.com or other 3rd party supplier. Apple does not sell iDVD any more and those items are getting harder to get.
Once you obtain iDVD go to iPhoto and bring up the slideshow. Then use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option. That will send the slideshow to iDVD from which you can burn a video DVD disk.
I suggest you follow this workflow while working in iDVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Is there a way to determine the Apple ID used to set up an iPod Touch?

Hi, I am helping a friend with a new computer to sync his iPod Touch 4th generation and update to iOS 5.1 hopefully. The iPod is running the iOS version that as on it out of the box. 4.x.x. Never updated.
He does not know if his Apple ID was used to set up his iTouch or the ID of the person who did the original setup. I've read some discussions about people who are locked out of a computer for 90 days if it is associated with a different ID. Trying to avoid this on his new computer. He has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 on the new unit if that is helpful.
We downloaded the latest version on iTunes and reset the password on his Apple ID two days ago. I hesitiate to move forward with the iPod sync as I don't want to lock him out of the iTunes store for 90 days if we use the wrong ID.

If you have turned on Settings > iCloud > Find My you will have to start by turning that off - requires entering the Apple ID password. Then remove the Apple ID from all places it is used, i.e., Messages, FaceTime, and so on. Go to the App Store and then Sign Out. Now you can enter the desired Apple ID and password in all of those places.

Is there any way to tell if someone has cleared and reused a lost Ipod touch? Or will it continue to show up as offline in Find Iphone app?

I have the app Find Iphone, and my kids' ipods are linked to the app because we share an itunes account. My son cannot find his ipod, in which, he took it on a mini-vacation with friends. He never took it out of their vehicle, but it may have fallen out at some point, just not sure. When I check my app, it simply reads offline. I want to know if there will be a way to know if someone has reset it (even if I cannot locate them)? Will it continue to say that the device is in lost mode if it has been restored? My Find Iphone is saying that when the device is connected to the internet that it will be locked and that a message (that I typed in) will appear. It also says that I will be notified and that a sound will occur when it is connected. Now my iphone has been updated to the ios7, but I don't think his ipod was updated.

I have a first gen iPod running on 2.2.1 that will not upate to 3.3.1. after purchasing the update from Apple. How do I get a refund or, if possible actually get it to update? I'd like to be able to use some new apps like Netflix and Facebook, but most apps now require newer at least 3.3.1.

Can I export iTunes files in an MP3 format to a thumb drive so that I can play them on my car stereo?

Some corrections needed (but I use an older iTunes and no longer bother to try to keep up with newer versions or Apple doings):
Unless Apple has changed things back to the way they were 5 years ago, your music purchases are DRM free and you can now convert AAC to MP3 within iTunes (unless your files are from DRM days).
Again unless Apple has changed things, creating mp3s from AAC files in iTunes will not replace the AAC. It will create new files (make sure iTunes preferences are set to create mp3). In iTunes you have to display the "kind" column to distinguish because your AAC original and mp3 copy will appear as duplicates since they will have similar tags.
You say dragging doesn't work. Please clarify. No files copy? The files copy but won't play? Dragging from an iTunes playlist to a drive will normally copy files (it does with iTunes 7.5) unless the drive is locked. Files will not play if your car doesn't support the file format you try (dragging AAC files will put AAC on the drive which is still not universally supported), or if you format your drive to an unsupported format. That should be specified by your car's player but likely will not support Mac formatted drives and you should probably leave the FAT32 format that many drives comes as. If you formatted to Mac then you should reformat the flash drive back to DOS.

you can restore from your backup again just to get the notes. once you've restored from the backup, copy your notes into your icloud notes group or email them to yourself - basically, get them somewhere else so they're not just locally stored on the device. once you've moved your notes elsewhere, restore the device as new again like apple had you do. this will again put a fresh version of the operating system on your phone like it has right now

The quickest method would be to copy the install files to a USB drive on a computer which does have an optical drive.
You are certainly welcome to download the trial from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=designweb_premium. You can then enter the serial number for your copy of Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium.

I have a terabyte of movies that I would like to put on a the cloud so that I can access them via iTunes anywhere. The movies are almost all .avi. I have tried to drag them to my iTunes on my laptop but have not been able to transfer 1 single file.

Can anyone help me import .avi movies to a cloud drive so that I can play them on my iPad when I'm traveling. It is one of the only reasons I purchased the thing and I cannot figure out how to access my personal movie files from a "cloud" drive.

To get that much storage, you need to look to professional online services. Pro-level hosting accounts may offer you that much (well, many will offer as much storage as you are prepared to pay for), or Amazon professional cloud services. You could also store the files on a home machine and pay for a professional hosting service so you could stream them over your own account (assuming your ISP connection and agreement allows for the bandwidth used). You would still need to deal with the issue of finding an app for the iPad that supported avi streaming.
