I want to embed a word document in a Captivate 8 slide which will show as an icon, so that when the user clicks on it, the word document opens. Please suggest ways to do it.

Hi, I have created a button to open the file. I have put an action that on Success open URL or File. I have put the word document in the same folder where my Captivate file is. but when I am previewing the Captivate file, it is not opening the word document. When i am publishing the Captivate file to exe, this is not working. The Word document doesnot open. Please help..

You can print because it's your document. Others shouldn't be able to. But then it's easy enough to unlock them altogether.
Easiest is to get encryption software and just encrypt the document. Or create a small encrypted disc image with Disk Utility and store the document in the disc image.

Customer sent us PDF files created in MS Word. Of course, Word creates CMYK versions of colors. I need the red text and black text converted into spot colors for 2 color output on press. Is there a way to do this? I saw another thread that said there is a Fixup in the Print Production/Preflight section of Acrobat X that has a convert to Spot, but I'm not seeing that. All I see is Convert to CMYK. I'm using Acrobat X 10.1.13 on OS X. Any help would be appreciated. He also sent the Word docs so I can drop that into InDesign and reformat the whole thing and fix the colors myself but if I can do it in Acrobat, that would be a lot quicker. Thanks!

Frequently in this scenario the red will be 100% of either magenta or yellow with 0% black. In these cases you can merely plate the Black & Magenta (or yellow) for press.
I've created a Preflight Fixup on occasion for these also.
An example shown - Note it requires the document is cmyk. MS Files will be rgb. You could create a Preflight looking for rgb colors.
With Fixup tab selected - Options > Create New Fixup > Type of Fixup - search for Spot in the field

I absolutely DO NOT want to install some office progs on my machine (I have another one for that kind of boring stuff but that's still on its way across the ocean) and need to open a .doc document consiting on more than 1 page. Is there a way to this with Illustrator? Right now thats the only prog that opens a .doc but I only get to see the first page.

select the first page, at the bottom right corner there's a little red square with a plus sign. Click once on it, and the cursor will change to represent something that looks like a paragraph. Click anywhere you want page 2 to start, (another artboard for instance). Repeat for the remaining of the pages.

Is there a way to recover a word document that was auto saved before a power outage?

I was working on a document that was previously saved, went to the save the darn thing, and of course the power zapped out. It was in word 2010? and even when searching for "AutoRecovery" files it is not there. just the original document opens, not the modified one. Please if anyone knows how to find a recovered one, or if it is even possible can you let me know.

I was assuming you meant 2011 and not 2010 since 2010 is a Windows version and not Mac
First a disclaimer, right now I am on a PC and not my Mac so there may not be a one-to-one matchup.
Clicking on the main Word drop down, this may be under Preferences, I have a Word Options button. From there do you have Allow Background Saves checked? Also, the button File Locations; find AutoRecover Files and see where those are located. Then using Finder, go to that location and see if you can find a file with a date/time stamp for the time of the power outage. If there is a file, open and see if that is what you need.
If there are no files, or cannot find the recovery file location, there may not be much option than to try and redo all the work up to the power outage. Word is supposed to auto save, and take you to the last saved form of files before an exit that is not according to the rules...it is supposed to do that, or so it claims.

I'm guessing that you're having trouble accessing them because you're using Word 2004 (or older), which doesn't work in Lion. The solution is simple... upgrade to a recent version of Word!

If the content is online you can use the microsoft office online viewer. Make a web object interaction and put the url below in and add the URL of the document to it, so just replace the URL in the example below.

Is there a way to add/delete words from the predictive text options that my iPhone is giving me? I'm using an iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 8.
There are specific words that are popping up in the area right above the keyboard where it displays 3 word suggestions to choose from. This area seems to suggest words that I have typed before, I'd like to remove these words. Default seems to select the word in the center and when I'm typing fast on occasion it will recommend and select words that I don't need to use.
Any help would be appreciated.

The box is called Headers and is used for thing that will be repeated on several pages like page numbering and names etc.. You can uncheck it in the Inspector > Document tab

If you have older versions of excel and word that previously ran under the Rosetta emulator (allows PowerPC code to run on Intel system), they will no longer work with Lion.
You can use the Apple programs Pages and Numbers to access the files. They can be bought and downloaded from the App store. NeoOffice is available at http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php which has Lion support. OpenOffice doesn't talk to Lion support, it's at http://www.openoffice.org/

First you can add the information as a footer in the authoring program.
Next you can add custom meta data fields to include the copyright notice, contact information, and usage restrictions through the "File => Properties => Custom" UI or with JavaScript. Doc Properties info
You can also set the meta daa copyright through the "File => Properties => Description => Additional Metadata..." or with JavaScript. Doc Properties metadata
You can modify these scripts to make them functions that can be accessed by adding an option to an Acrobat menu item or as a tool bar button.

So first windows patches are applied. Then computer reboots installs apps.
I just enabled bunch of Office 2013 updates on WSUS. Office patches takes very long time.
Is there a way to embed patches in MDT to save update time.
Never used Packages node in MDT may this thing can help?

Windows image can be updated, but Office for example that is installed after Windows deployment...

no I do not install O2013 into the image. It is deployed as post OS install Application.
I really don't see any significant gain of using individual patches in Updates or from WSUS.
BTW, I am still confused about getting MS patches (KBs) beside by WSUS and creating msp from bunch of them.
Could you please briefly describe where and how to download Office 2013 patches for Example from Feb 1 2014 until Sep 15 2014. And then create msp for placing to Updates folder.
Is there something specific for Office 2013 patches that makes it easy to get as a package (one file)?

However there are various options to protect a PDF available in Acrobat as well .
If you select the protection option in Acrobat,you will get to see several options of protecting or encrypting a PDF .
You can encrypt it with with a password or a certificate .
You can even redact a PDF if you want .
