Is there a way to export a final cut pro 10 project without updating the software to 10.1

I need help exporting a project i created on final cut pro 10, but it keeps saying i need to update to 10.1. To update the software, i need 4GB but my mac book pro only has 2GB

Well it's probably time to do some house/computer cleaning.
You need to clear space and maybe get a large fast external drive for media storage.
Try turning off auto updating in System Preferenses>Software Update.

You need to look on Amazon or EBay, actually the price for a legitimate copy is likely to be much higher than FCP-X.

Exporting a final cut pro project

I have filmed using a Canon XF300 camera which produces MPEG -2 files on CF cards. I have used the highest quality setting - 1920x1080 i50 : this is broadcast standard.
I use FCP version 7.03 to log and transfer the material. This has worked successfully. I have edited a half hour project with various effects and that too has worked. BUT now I cannot find a way of EXPORTING this as a QT movie to copy onto a 4Gb DVD. I have tried various settings - Apple Pro Res 422 is the favourite but it produces huge files. I find the digital domain hasn't been covered well enough in the FCP version I have. Any suggestions will be welcomed!

That results in a .mov file and the quality is quite excellent.
I am not sure if the new FCP allows for authoring/encoding to burn onto a DVD so it can be watched in any DVD player - if it does, it should show as being able to burn or share to a DVD somewhere in the file menu; if not, you will need burn software such as iDVD or Roxio Toast or others such as a very basic Burn (free).

How to Free up Disk Space to export from Final Cut Pro to QuickTime?

I am using Final Cut Pro on a Mac OX10. When I try to export a Final Cut Pro project to QuickTime I get a message saying that I do not have enough disk space available. How do I free up additional disk space? (I am a little confused because I have already deleted more disk space than I am current trying to use)

Might try restarting the computer, just to refresh the system's memory... be sure you empty the trash too... the new space won't show up until you do.

Tried to export my Final Cut Pro and I get an error; QuickTime Error: -50.

I am trying to export my Final Cut Pro project and when it is exporting, about 20mins later, it gives me an error. How can i fix the problem.
Error code: QuickTime Error: -50

Try deleting preferences (use Preference Manager, a free application).
Also, you may try copying everything in your timeline and pasting into a new project. See if that exports correctly.

It doesn't seem to work on mine, when I go to command: the export button is in grey, whereas all the others (import; customize) are black and can be actionned. Is this a restriction in the trial version or is there a way to activate export?

I'm looking for someone to render (export) a final cut X project for me. I am running FCX on my MB air & it works surprisingly well for small projects. However, I have a 4 minute video that is outside of the limits of my machine. I am assuming there is a way to dropfile the project & have someone else export it for me & dropfile it back to me as a HD video I can post on Vimeo. I am willing to pay for this service.

I may not be doing this correctly, I created the new library & when I tried to copy the the clips it said this:
You are editing compound clips or multicam clips between libraries.
Final Cut Pro will copy files and create new parent clips in the library "Movies".
The new clips will be independent of the original parent clips.
Media stored in external folders will be linked to but not copied.

Exporting from Final Cut Pro

Hi I have shot a show that ran for 2 hours. I have edited and now just need to know how I should export it and what format so it can fit on a dvd. I will be using iDVD 5 for the menus, and I am under the impression iDVD 5 doesnt support mpeg 2 files. So i need another way to export from Final Cut and then put it in iDVD 5 then onto a dvd.

I'm afraid I've mis-stated some information, and I apologize.
First, you would need to select 'best QUALITY' for anything over 60 minutes.
Generally iDVD5 should successfully create a 90 minute DVD. It is supposed to be able to create up to 2hours of content, but that would include all media creation items, including movie file(s), motion menus, drop zones, music...etc.
I had come across a link that discussed creating longer DVDs in iDVD, but it works with iMovie and is not totally relevant to this forum.

Making Multi clips form one video in one export in final cut pro.

I am looking to turn my video that is 45 mins in length in to 45 small 1 min clips. Can anyone tell me an easy way to export out the video in to 45 individual 1 min clips that will not need me to install more software or have to cut up the video and batch export 45 clips.

Have you tried to deinterlace the clip in Final Cut Pro X? Select the clip, go to Inspector > Info Tab > Settings View and check the de-interlace box.

What is the proper way to back up Final Cut Pro x?
Final Cut Pro X & Motion 5 are the only two programs I do not have a hard copy for.
Click and dragging the files from the applications folder to an external harddrive seems to simple to be correct.
Are their additional folders or actions that are required to back up these software?
I'm having problems and was instructed to back up all files ASAP before taking my iMac (mid 2010) to the Apple store for treatment.

Most apps from the Mac App Store are simple drag & drop installation. DId FCPX or M5 just download to your Mac or was there an installer app involved? If they just donwloaded, then dragging them to backup media should be enough. If there was an installer, then you should backup the installer. But these apps aren't going to disappear from the Mac App Store in the short time that your Mac is in a repair shop. You can also download them again fromthe Purchased pane after you have signed into your account.

I am trying to export to final cut pro from preimer. basically my teams work flow is in FCP so i need to work with them. I have exported a EDL from Cs4 Pr but It dosnt import into FCP I get an error. that says " error importing edl"
any one done this succesfully?
there is one line of video and no audio in the project.

You aren't doing anything wrong. It is still a quicktime movie, but set to auto open by FCP.
Two things:
(1) add a .mov extension to it.
(2) select it in the finder, and do a get info. Change the Open With... to QuickTime Player.
Make sense?

There never was a trial version of FCP7. The application was only ever sold as part of the Final Cut Studio suite of applications. You might still find copies on eBay.

If all she seeks to do is to change the display name, and she’s willing to leave the account name unchanged, then she could do the following: log in as the administrative user and open the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences. If the padlock in the lower-left corner is locked, unlock it. Select the account that shows your brother-in-law’s name on the left-hand side of the window, and then on the right-hand side, change the text in the “Full name” textbox to her preferred display name.
