Is there a way to Export text from Pages 09 to Keynote 09 Slides?

I wanted to make an outline for a presentation in Pages 09 and then export it to Keynote 09 as slide text. But did not want to have to copy it piece by piece. I know you can do this with Word, but I would rather do stuff like this in Pages and Keynote.
Thanks!

There isn't any export feature from Pages to Keynote. Have you tried Copy and Paste?

Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:
Select the right facing arrow in a blue circle next to the email address this girl is sending iMessage to and select Remove This Email.
If she has your cell phone number, she can switch to sending iMessage to that and there will be nothing you can do, but removing the email address will prevent you from receiving an iMessage addressed to that email address.

  • Is there a way to export data from Framemaker 7.0 to InDesign CS3 for the MAC

I am asking this question for our Advertising department so I am not too close to the situation. Another company that is part of oujr platform designed their catalogs in Framermaker 7.0. We have Framemaker 6.0. The only reason we have it is to work with this other version of Framemaker 7.0. Our advertising people use InDesign CS3 for the Mac. Right now Advertising gives the person with Framermaker 7.0 changes to be made to their catalog. He exports the file as an IMF file and she pulls it into Framermaker 6.0.
We tried to upgrade from Framemaker 6.0 to 9.0, but that wasn't possible.
Ideally we would like to take a 600 page catalog created with Framemaker and convert it to InDesign.
We would also like to take the files created with Framemaker 7.0 and import them into InDesign.
Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks in advance.

You can convert FrameMaker MIF (interchange) files to InDesign with the dtptools.com MIF Filter plug-in for InDesign. The plug-in is free, because you have to pay for the pages you convert. The bigger bundle of pages you buy, the lower cost per page.
dtptools.com also has a really free plug-in for FrameMaker that converts .fm files to .mif, whole directories at a time.
The converted InDesign files usually look very close to the original FM files, but it's possible to create things in FM that fools the converter, so you'll need to look the conversions over carefully.
I reviewed MIF Filter in some detail in InDesign Magazine in a late 2007 issue.
You should be aware that InDesign CS3 is no longer sold, so you can't buy more copies for all your users to be working in the same release. While it's possible to exchange files between ID CS3 and CS4 there are some things that don't convert perfectly, so you'll still have to inspect closely. I believe the most-common issue is text reflow.
It's not clear if you intend never to go back to using FrameMaker for any of the catalog work, except perhaps for creating original text.
Without seeing an example of the catalog pages, it's impossible to recommend any useful strategies. You can post a screen shot to this forum by clicking the camera icon in the button bar above the reply entry area. Inserting with the camera puts the picture on the forum very quickly, vs. attaching the picture as a file (it takes hours or days.)
There may be other strategies for creating your catalog.

  • Is there any way to export data from a calendar 5 instance to 6.3?

I've run into yet another issue with my migration from calendar 5 to 6.3.
It turns out that one of our satellite clinics has a very large amount of data stored on our older server. Right now we're having to put the migration on hold because there are several hundred events on the old server that are repeat events and/or events scheduled relatively far in the future. This issue, along with the possibility of double booking events/appointments while both servers are active, is a serious risk that could have detrimental effects on this site.
There are a few issues that I'm not certain how to handle in this case. First of all, the old server's database is stored in schema 1, and changes in the LDAP directory structure from cal 5 vs. 6.3 made it impossible to migrate the old database and accounts. The new server is schema 2. So migrating the whole directory, especially at this point, seems rather unlikely.
Is there any way that I can export data for specific accounts and calendars for the people at this site in a version-independent format and import it to the new server? If nothing else we can schedule somebody to come in on one of the weekends and manually copy the data, but if possible I'd like to avoid devoting somebody to that for the several hours that it would take to copy that by hand. Also, this would not be the preferred method due to the fact that human error could result in our clients being misscheduled, which would obviously be bad for business.
I'd appreciate any ideas anybody may have on this matter.
    Thanks in advance.

Actually I guess I was missing the obvious method of simply exporting to xml and importing on the new calendar. For some reason I thought that the exports were incompatible between versions as well.Hmm... whilst this may have worked on the face-of-it I do wonder whether everything has indeed been moved across and more importantly translated into the correct form e.g. access controls, uids => uids@domain format.
Is there anybody that can answer definitively whether or not any data will be lost by this procedure? There are simply too many variables involved in your proposed migration to provide any kind of 100% iron-clad guarantees. I would suggest you perform a thorough test migration of the data and then compare the ics/xml export from the ics5/6 systems to see if any of the data has changed. Also test to see whether access controls are still working (can a user who could previously edit another persons calendar on ics5 now do so with ics6).
Things to look out for are that meeting attendee information is kept, any 'fancy' characters (i.e. 8-bit characters) and formatting information is kept, the number of tasks/meetings is consistent between the two versions and so forth.

  • Is there a way to exclude text from word count?

    Hi,
I'm writing a research project at the moment and it's about 12000 words. I have to state the word count at the start and it is supposed to exclude everything which comes in reference brackets, eg (Ames, 2009, p.103)
I want to check the word count at the moment so want to exclude all references from the word count, but I dont want to simply delete them all because I still need to work on the doucment!
Is there a way to do that?!

    Hi Brigit,
It can be done (or at least estimated closely) using only tools included in Pages, Here's the process:
Record the word count at the bottom left of the document window.
Press command-F to open the Find/Replace dialogue.
Enter an opening parenthesis character ( "("  without the quotes ) into the Find box.
Enter the same character into the Replace with box.
    Click Replace all.
Note the count of items replaced below the Replace box (one in the example, your post above):
If all in text references are similar to the sample one provided, each contains four 'words'. Multiply the count by four, subtract the result from the document's word count, and you'll have the result you're looking for.
If your references are of different lengths (eg. (Ames and Smith, 2003, pp.301-303) has a word count of 7), you'll need to adjust the multiplier.
Note that if you have parentheses in your document that are NOT enclosing references, these will be included in the count.

    Barry

  • Is there a way to: Export images from DICOM media into Illustrator?

I am trying to find a way to automatically import sets of images from DICOM media (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) into Illustrator. To be more specific I need to load up about 20 heart-slice images from DICOM CDs or any other type of archival systems into Illustrator.
These MRI DICOM clips show slices of the heart pulsating in systole (when the heart is the smallest ) and diastole (when the heart is largest) and phases in-between (systole and diastole are two time phases of the heart cycle, represented by time numbers), at various topographical locations (these would represented by slice numbers, or space numbers).  I would like to be able to input the number of the slices (space numbers) in systole and diastole (time numbers) and then with the push of a button to import the respective jpeg images into Illustrator.
This thread is related to a previous one “Is there a way to calculate the area of a shape?”
I would greatly appreciate the help.
    Avi

I played a little with live trace in CS5. Seems to do quite a good job if I had the right contrast between the blood (white stuff) and the myocardium (the dark circular wall surrounding the white round area). Picture one is the contrasted picture taken off a dicom medium (these media allow adjusting the contrast very well). Left ventricle is the smiley face on the right of image. The right ventricle is on the left, kind of D shaped. The second picture is the live trace image (with "make and expand" selection). I selected the image with the "direct selection tool (A)", then used the live trace with make and expand. The tracing can not be seen here, but it is very accurate.
The third image is the same MRI image as in picture one without contrast adjustment. Live trace did bad - fourth picture.

  • JavaScript: Is there a way to move text from de clipboard to a js variable ?

Now I use an alternative that is (roughly):
    1. Save the actual insertionPoint (where I want to put the final result)
    2. Create (or use a predefined) textframe off of the page.
    3. Select that textFrame and paste the clipboard contents
    4. Reselect the original insertionPoint and then begin a loop for each
    paragraph:
    5. Apply several procces to the paragraph (this include tokenize the
input, format and replace of common errors).
    6. Insert the data back to de insertionPoint with apropiate
    paragraphStyles.
I did'nt place the clipboard text directly into the final textframe because there are content before and after the insertionPoint and not all of the paste text is actually used. I fill better doing the text processing in a separated place and later insert it.
This method work very well, except for the visual jump to the textFrame and back to the insertionPoint, and the change in the page view position.
I will be happy if I can place the clipboart text directly into a javascript variable and avoid the creation of an auxilizary textframe.
    Thanks.

    > If this file is text file you can also read the contents of the file
    > into a variable as a string.
    > Process this string and set it as contents of your text frame.
Yes, I can do that way (I'm considering anyway), but I have a lot of textframes linked across several pages (more than 80 pages in fact) and I have to put the inserted text in diferent places of this multipage linked textframe. And the information a have to put in the document isn't in sequent but scattered along the pages.
For me is easiest to copy from original file (spreedsheet document) a bunch of selected rows, place the insertionPoint it in the correct place in the document and run the script for generate the data. Next select another rows and repeat the process in other place.
The other way I'm thinking of is to copy all rows I need (actualy not all rows of the documnt) ignoring the order in which I want it, import into indesign and later copy and paste in correct place.
Maybe I have to rethink the whole process, but for now it works.
    Thanks anyway

  • Is there a way to export audio from iMovies?

I have extracted audio from a video clip that I wish to put into my iTunes library. I was wondering if there is an easy way to do this?
    Many thanks.

One way is to drag the extracted audio clip onto your desktop. Then open iTunes and import it in from the file menu.

  • Is there a way to export files from InDesign to Powerpoint?

I am trying to export a brochure created in InDesign and use it as a presentation in PowerPoint.  Is this possible?

    Hello
I represent Recosoft. We make ID2Offfice (http://www.recosoft.com/products/id2office). This exports/converts InDesign CS5-CC 2014 files to PowerPoint, Word and Keynote formats. You can view the Youtube video I've posted below how it converts the file:

  • Exporting text from fcp

I have a lot of separate text boxes in my sequence. Since I can' t do a spell check in fcp, I was wondering if i can export all the text boxes out as a plain text document to do a spell check.
I tried exporting as a xml document, but navigating through all the tags was quite a problem.
    TIA for any suggestions.

    Usual workflow is following.
    1. Put all Text-generator clips to one track
    2. Export sequence to XML
    3. Launch TitleExchange, point to exported XML and say where to put converted file.
Exporting to STL you'll get text file like that
    +00:01:27:26 ,00:01:29:26 ,They had this idea that+
    +00:01:29:30 ,00:01:30:31 ,behind scary+
... which you can open in any spell-checker.
We use TitleExchange to bring subtitles from FCP to DVD Studio and back (in case we need subtitled DVD and Betacam output)
Though, this may be much expensive way of checking spelling (135 Euro per TE licence).
There are lots of subtitle software, I only wanted to mention a way of exporting text from FCP with help of subtitle processors.

  • Is there a way to export an iTunes playlist from a windows XP pc and import on an iMac?

I have a PC running Windows XP that I've had for many years. I just got an iMac and want to make that my main music source for syncing iPods, playing, music in the house, etc. I have a lot of playlists on the old PC that I want to move over to the iMac and I don't have to rebuild them all by hand. Is there a way to export the original playlists from the Windows PC and import them to the iMac since the file systems are different? Thanks.

The problem really is that one person has InDesign and the other has Photoshop.
The workflow is images from photoshop are placed in Photoshop.
Not the layout from InDesign is placed in photoshop.
That's how the software is designed to work.
What people are saying is that Photoshop cannot work this way in dealing with layouts, it's a nightmare and will give you terrible results and cost you time and effort when updating things in Photoshop, it has all the makings of a Final Destination movie, particularly in the area of the later sequels.
But let's not get hung up on those franchises.
If the person needs to edit an Indesign file and can't afford the full cost of InDesign then there are other workarounds:
    1. If it's just text
If all they are doing is updating text then you can use File>Export>Rich Text Format from a selection of text, this will make a Word version of the text that they can edit. You can then use File>Import and import the RTF that is edited.
    2. You can use InCopy
This is a viable solution for editors that need to see the text in the Layout Format, but it hasn't got all the bells and whistles of InDesign, but it works in tangent with InDesign, it's not as pricey as InDesign and it also allows you to lock out editors from editing certain parts or moving things within the layout. And it can update your InDesign file on the fly.
    3. You can use Rorohikos Story Tweaker
    http://www.rorohiko.com/wordpress/2009/03/25/storytweakertextedits/
There are workarounds that you can find for people that don't have InDesign. It's just that the Photoshop workflow isn't a viable solution in any sense.
For example, I have my layouts proofed in PDF format, where the proofreader adds Comments to the PDF. It works for our workflow as I'm the one editing the only file in existence.
But to go from InDesign to Photoshop is a complete  waste of time and effort on everyone's part. There is no need to go that route, there's no reason, there's no point.
