Is there a way to find peak audio level?
I'm using FCE 4 and I am trying to adjust the audio level on a number of tracks. In most of the I can do it without problem using Normalization Gain, but one track refuses to adjust. From what I have read it could be because there is a peak (audience clapping) at the end of the track. If I split the track into a different clip item, should that work? or is there a way of finding out where a peak is without listening to the entire track? I saw something like that but it may have only applied to FCP.

By the way, my solution for fixing the audio anomaly that I mentioned above was to process my audio in an external editor, as I simply could not get FCE to handle it properly, even after trashing my preferences files, trashing all of my render files, creating a new Sequence and copying my clips to it, etc.

I'd love to get some sort of "printout" (a list or
something) of every single file.
There is, go to browser and cntrl click on any one of the columns,
and select - show/source. A new column named "source" will pop up and will show where everything "lives". Click on the header at the top and it will justify the column as well. You'll notice this won't show anything for your seq.'s. of course, but will show stills/audio/motion files...
Once you have the new column, you can drag it next to the "name" column and get a grab of it and print it if you like, or whatever.
If you want to do this for just 1 seq., then can create a new bin and double click it to open it. Cntrl-A (select all) in your main seq. and just drag all into the new bin. You will see only what's in that seq. with the "source" column right next to it.
From what I've read, you seem to get the MM thing and it's obviously what you'll need to do to archive as the guys said. But what your missing is a file path system to where everything resides.

Is there a way to FIND what page is playing music?
I often have two browsers & a good number of windows & tabs open. Sometimes, especially if I have to reboot, and they all re-open, I'll hear music or a video playing, and have no clue where it's coming from!
Is there no way to find out, without having to go tab by tab, window by window, scouring up and down on each page, looking for a little player?
And on some sites, there's just automatic music, with no visible player (which I really can't stand, as I'm usually already listening to something else, and the webpages with auto-play tend to use very loud music, increasing the ensuing displeasure.Tuttle wrote:

Well, that would help to see what tabs are open, but my major problem is when it's just a player or small video window on a page, that's playing. Knowing all the tabs open will help if it's an obvious page, like a YouTube video, or band's MySpace page, but I can see all the tabs on each window, but I still must go one by one, looking up & down each page, looking for the culprit. Sometimes there's no player to see, but an imbedded song that automatically just plays....
I was hoping there'd be some program that could show where or on what page an audio or video file is being played... -

I'm a bit new to this discussion group thing although I've been using Macintosh computers for many years (showing my age).
I handed my MacBook Pro to be repaired at an authorised apple service centre. When I handed it in they said they needed to keep hold of it to run some diagnostics and requested my password. I've owned various models of mac for the the past 17 years and this is the first hardware problem I have encountered, hence I have never bothered to set up user accounts.
As I live in quite a remote part of Sweden I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks) or share some of my personal information (scanned copies of my birth certificate, passport, certificates, photos, etc.) on the web. Is there a way of finding out what activity has taken place whilst they've had it in their possession?
I appreciate any advice you guys can offer.

If you put your info into the computer and hand it to another, you have to assume they will copy everything.
Why are you putting scanned copies of valuable identity information into a computer than can be hacked, stolen, lost or compromised by a dirty tech?

No. The tech would just deny it if he did, or tell the truth which the answer would be "NO" in either case.
The employer won't ask that sort of questions without solid proof, less they make a enemy of the employee and/or risk being sued for defamation of character.
It's not like they bother to have a team of people watching over his shoulder that he doesn't stick a USB thumb drive of your data into his pocket to take home.

If it's iTunes music, it has your personal ID embedded into the song files. Most IT techs know this though.

Too late now, all you can do is not worry about it.
Take your personal info out of the machine and if you need it, burn cd/dvd copies, a few USB thumb drives, Iron Keys or self encrypting external storage drives with key and/or keypad. -
I just upgraded my iPad from 4.3.3 to the newest - I think 6.1.3. I cannot find my photos and videos. I tried a restore, but after 3 hours, it's timing out. Pardon my ignorance on asking this question; but is there a way to find my photos? I do nto care about anythign else.
Here are the steps I though I took this morning:
Backup iPad
Connect to iTunes and downlaod newest version of iTunes and then newest iOS
restart Vista Laptop
upgrade to newest iOS
I knew somethign was wrong when it took about 6 hours to upgrade the iPad
at the end it errored with this message error (-50), but the upgrade worked
I was expecting to see all my photos but didn't see them
I have tried a restore to a back up 2 times. The first time took 3 hours and just sort of timed out - it kept saying that there was an hour to go
I tried it again 2 hours ago and same message.
They are very valuable to me and so now I am panicking

Is there any way to find number of addresses in to and cc list before fetch

I am fetchig mails using IMAP.
I want to fetch from,to cc addresses for each mail.
But i foung a mail in my account having 35690 email addresses in to list.
So fetching all these addresses is not worth full for me.
So is there any way to find how many addresses are there in to and cc list before actually fetching them?

I imported 100 photos from my camera (Canon) into iphoto. The importation went well, and when I was watching the photos, suddenly iphoto crashed. I restarted iphoto and realized that the photos had disapered. The events are availbble into iphoto but they are empty, the photos have dispeared. I can not believe they disapeared as they have been imported and read once, they must be hidden somewhere on the disk? Is there a way to find where they are?
Assuning you're running iPhoto 9 or later try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

What should I do if my iPod has been stolen and when I checked my support profile and entered my serial # and I received a message that the serial # had been registered to another Apple ID account? No, sorry, there is no way you can get that information. The police perhaps could, but it would probably require a court order and it's unlikely the police will go to those lengths unless they have reason to believe that this theft was not an isolated instance and hence worth more of their time than the single theft of an iPod.
Even if they got the ID, it may well just be yours. Apple's registration database often contains such errors; I get the same message for some of my devices when I know I registered them to my Apple ID and the devices are all still right here.

you did purchase your product from these firms like Amazon, so you didn't get a serial number, only a code with which you can request a serial number from Adobe. Please have a look at http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html. (Start here: How did you purchase your product?)
The following part, so I just see at least, ceased to exist on my Adobe website, everything takes place in the link from above. I leave it as an info yet, it might still fit for you. For this purpose, please click your way through to your Adobe Store and find the button "Get Serial Number". Fill in the form and after a while you will get the real serial number.
Additionally you should have a look at Adobe's database, to see what's stored/saved about your accounts. Here you will find general infos about your Adobe Account.
On the other hand, if necessary and for further questions click through http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html and if "open" please use the chat, I for may part had the best experiences. I quote from Adobe's employee Preran: The chat button is activated as soon as there is an agent available to help.

For global alerts, yes:
There is no need to do anything before the alert appears, and the MBA will not lose data should it go to sleep. If it goes to sleep at 0% you still have several hours to plug it in before it shuts down.
I wouldn't even bother displaying the percentage value.
