Is there a way to freehand comments in Acrobat?

I would like to be able to take a hand held electronic pen and markup an acrobat file using the Pencil tool in Acrobat. Does anyone know of a way to do this? In my experience, the existing commenting tools in Acrobat are not good for quickly marking up a plan sheet or a map in PDF format.

Todd,
One of my old rigs had a Wacom pressure sensitive tablet. A basic function of the pen was cursor control, so I was able to use the pencil tool with it to redline drawings. These days, I am content to use the comment and mark up tools and a plain old mouse in Acrobat 8 Pro. The price has come down on the smaller tablets through the years, so you may want to look into mfr. Wacom. I see the Bamboo is running around $70.

I have created a PDF and password protected it for view. However, when reading the PDF in Adobe Reader app on the iPad the commenting and annotation options are not available. Is there a way to allow commenting and annotation in the app while password protecting the document?

Is there a setting that needs to be set to allow the annotation features?  I set password protection to open and then password for editing and set it to Any except page extraction, but it still did not give the annotation option

  • Is there a way to make comments "move to the back", behind the text and lines?

Is there a way to make comments "move to the back", behind the text and lines?
I am using Acrobat X Standard to "highlight" lines using comments lines at 12pt width and 50% opacity on DWG files converted to PDF.  The opacity setting makes the text and lines readable behind the highlighting, but the colors do not print well.  Moving the highlighting behind the existing text and lines would allow me to use 100% opacity with more vibrant colors.
Before, we highlighted by hand, but those colors do not scan or copy well.  Digitizing the highlighting is cleaner, and can be edited without starting over.  The "comments" lines can be applied by Acrobat Reader, Acrobat Standard, and Acrobat Pro, so there's an advantage.  Even more important is that the average file size of an 11x17 print that is highlighted and scanned in color is 1000 KB, while doing it this way, they tend to be 100-150 KB, and the text remains searchable. If there's another system that people use, I'm open to that instead.  I haven't looked in to doing the highlighting in AutoCAD.
Naturally, everything I'm doing is protected, and cannot be shared, sorry.
    Thanks.

No, that's not really an option.

Is there a way to insert comments into numbers on an ipad, or an alternative?

If you mean in the iBooks app - tap on Collections in the upper left corner. Then tap New. Name the collection. Tap Done. Then tap the Edit button in the upper right. Tap on the books that you want to move to select them. Tap Move in the upper let corner. Select the newly created collection.

  • Is there a way to flatten pages in Acrobat XI

Is there a way to Flatten pages in Acrobat Standard XI.  In Standard 9 I used a script called flatten.js and it worked fine.  I read it will not work with XI. Any alternatives?

    Gilad,
Thanks for the reply, but I still can't seem to get this to work. Let me expand on what I was doing previously and maybe you can tell me what I am doing wrong now. Previously in Adobe Pro X when we had documents that we needed to sent to a client, we ran the Flatten Form Fields and Comments action script. This worked wonderfully until we upgraded to XI, now it appears to be broken as we can still edit the text using the "Content Editing" option from Tools even though it was suppose to be Flattened.
I have tried many other options: Flatten Comments and Annontations action script, another JS script that I found for Flattening (but it was old from 2008), and also tried doing the Javascript Debugger method and using the this.flattenPages(); command which returneds undefined when I press Ctrl + Enter. All of these the result in that I can continue to edit the text after the script/command is ran.
Am I missing something on how to lock down the PDFs now in XI or maybe I have a setting wrong that is blocking Javascript? I am hoping I am just making a mistake somewhere and the origional functionality we used in X is not gone.
Thank you for your time regarding this matter.

  • Is there a way to do this in Acrobat?

I'm hoping this is the right place for this query.
We've been asked by a client to provide a pdf document which will comprise two A4 sheets side by side as a double-page spread, therefore making the pdf page an A3. What they want to be able to do from this is to click print and automatically get those two sheets in the pdf to print out onto two A4 sheets as opposed to one A3. They don't want to have to fiddle about with printer settings etc to get this. Is there a way of doing this through Acrobat as we haven't been able to work it out?

Just create a single page PDF, then in Acrobat choose View > Page Display > Two-up.
It will then display 2 pages, but print each page independently.

  • Is there a way to insert comments directly into an Illustrator document so that every time you expor

I use Illustrator a lot to create website designs, and pepper the PDFs with comments on how everything should work. Is there a way to have those comments embedded into the AI so that I don't have to enter in the comments every time I export a PDF?

Template are the pre-designed document in which you do the modification as per the need.
this will give you better idea..

So , you can create a template with the comment on it.
when creating the new file , base it upon the template so that you have the comment already present in the Ai.

  • Rollover Link that displays a message, is there a way to do that in Acrobat?

    Hello,
Is there a way to create rollover links that display a pop message in the PDF itself? I do not want a separate browser window to pop up, or a link to another PDF page, I just want a bubble, box, or an image to pop up when you rollover a word in the PDF itself.
    Thanks,
    MG

  • Is there a way to put comments in an .icd file?

I think I know the answer to this, but is it possible to put comments into an .icd file?  I create many ICD files for Camera Link cameras (using both the NI Camera File Generator and by editing the text) and it would be very helpful if I could place comments in the file itself.
    Thanks, Bruce

Thanks for taking the time to think about this issue.
I tried your suggestion and now when trying to load the file in MAX it gives an IMAQ Error, "Error 0xBFF60108  The camera file does not support the current interface type."  I've tried many different forms of comments and none seem to work (; \\ -- %).  I am only way I am successfully able to use comments is if I put them at the very end of the file, after the last "{".
    Thanks anyway!

  • Is there a way to save comments into a "macro" or easily accessible file for quick/easy insertion?

To preface, I'm a lawyer and I use acrobat predominantly for its drawing and commenting features to "mark-up" contracts.  I get scanned text documents, I resize them using "Edit Object" or print-to-PDF at a reduced size and then I draw on them and use the text callout bubbles.
As many of these contracts feature similar provisions, I often find myself making the same comments over and over, and I was wondering if anyone had a good method, or macro for inserting comments easily.
I was thinking of creating a blank PDF document and then copy-pasting each callout text box into the document under the respective heading, and creating Tags, but this seems awfully labor intensive.
    Two other things:
    1) Why doesn't Acrobat X Pro grant me an automated function/action to resize (using Edit Object) every page?
    2) Acrobat needs better commenting tools for comments intended for printing.  Most people in my industry don't have/know how to use Acrobat, so pop-up comments become either obtrusive (covering text) or confusing.

You could create a menu item or tool bar button to allow you to selected a comment from a pop-up menu.

Acrobat is not an authoring tool and the original purpose of Acrobat was to allow the simple sharing of text and images between different computer users who might not have the same programs or operating systems. Remember this is a 17+ year old program and works across Mac, Windows, Unix, Android, Palm OS, and Solaris computer system. Probably the most widely distributed program in the world.
    > 2) Acrobat needs better commenting tools for comments intended for printing.  Most people in my industry don't have/know how to use Acrobat, so pop-up comments become either obtrusive (covering text) or confusing.
Acrobat was not designed for Attorneys. Better yet why do not attorneys learn how to use the tools they need to use to do their job or get proper technical support. This reminds me of the federal judge who felt PDF and Acrobat/Reader were too much trouble and she demanded all documents sent to her needed to be in the MS Word format. And when the attorneys complied with her order, she could not open the documents since she only had WordPerfect on her system with no conversion tools for MS Word documents.
You can use the text comment box tool or the call out tool to make comments that are not in a pop-up balloon.

  • Is there any way to save an Adobe Acrobat X Pro pdf file as a Word file WITHOUT section breaks?

I need to save (export) several pdf files as Word files. I need the Word files to NOT have  section breaks. Is this possible to do?  I have tried the options in the Settings (Retain flowing text; Retain page layout) but it does not help.

Actually when thate are saved as Word what you see on the screen is what you get in Word. Where the lines end show as returns so you may have to hand remove all returns to join all parts of a sentence. So there may be  section breaks or page breaks that you have to remove.

  • Is there any way to track text edits made in pdf file

when making text edits to a pdf document, i am interested to know ... is there any way to track these within acrobat.
i.e. text added/deleted to the pdf and not commented.
i am using acrobat version 11.0.09.
    many thanks in advance.

Not really.  The best you can do is use the Compare Documents function to
identify such changes after the fact.

  • When right clicking on a doc file and choosing create a pdf file....Word 2013 launches and creates problems. We are using Acrobat Pro. Is there a way to turn off this feature in Word 2013?

Is there a way around Word 2013 hijacking Acrobat Pro "create a pdf" process? When right clicking on a doc file and choosing "create a pdf" .......the Acrobat process will beging but then Word 2013 jumps in and creates problems.

That's exactly why it needs to support it... The support means the
application was tested in the supported environment and is known to work
well in it. In unsupported environments you can get all kind of strange
conflicts like the one you're experiencing.

Is there a way in Pages to show and print all the added "comments?" (those you add by highlighting text)  I am a teacher, and I would  like students to be able to view my comments on printed versions of their papers. I know word displays the comments off to the side of the document, and those comments can be viewed all at once and printed alongside the document.

There doesn't appear to be a way to print conmments in either Pages or Numbers in the Mavericks versions.
