Is there a way to get my iTouch updated to iOS 4 or later, it's older than 3G...

I believe it's the dinosaur of iTouchs, but it still works great and my kids want newer apps
to play. Without iOS 4.3 or newer a lot of the apps aren't compatible...is there a way
around this? When I sync to iTunes it says my v 3.1.3 is the current software. Help!

Bummer...not what I wanted to hear. Of course they'd require me to purchase another iPod instead of making ones already purchased still useable...if they aren't going to make the software available to use on all generations they should have a trade up program!

Thank you so much! It's updating now. I'm hoping that once the update is finished that it will sync like normal as well. Of course I'm still a bit confused/concerned about how it refused to update on it's own, but for now that's not a problem. Hopefully from now on there won't be any more problems.

If your phone is in recovery mode (You see the iTunes graphic on the phone), you MUST connect the device to a computer and restore the operating system. There is no supported way to get around it. The device had a problem installing the update and it crashed. Sorry.

The method used in that post works perfect on both Android and iOS for selecting and uploading files.... BUT is there a way to get the filename of the file from the mediaPromise cross-plattform?
If you let the user select an image it's not very nice to have the image be called "temp.jpg" after uploading - you want the user to know which image he/her have uploaded
Any ideas? The "mediaPromise.file.relativePath()" works on Android but not on iOS. Not "mediaPromise["file"].url/relativePath/nativePath" either.

Hey Joe what do you think of this solution.
1. Let the user select the image
2. Store the mediaPromise object in an array (event.data) for later use
3. Load in the object using loadMediaPremise
4. Add the loaded image into a movieclip (not visible from the scene)
5. Resize that movieclip to let's say 100x100
6. Use the BitmapData class to create a new bitmap from that movieclip and save it to storage
7. Use the saved file within the app as a thumbail
8. Use the mediaPromise object stored in the array later when the user wants to upload the images (then go through mediaPromise.open() on each image -> save to storage -> upload -> clear from storage -> loop).
I haven't tried it yet (will do this week) but should that be a acceptable solution to the problem(?)
I'm unsure if by just keeping the mediaPromise object within Flash will make the memory run wild though?

Is there any way to get ipad 2 mirroring (beta ios 5) to work with unicast? The school won't enable multicast for traffic concerns on a many AP wireless network.

The school district wireless network available throughout the complex has many access points and has multicasting turned off. They are afraid to enable it because of traffic concerns - many wireless devices all sending everything to every AP on the district wireless network. Is there any way to come up with an acceptable solution (unicasting?) that will only route traffic to the devices connected to a single access point on the network (the same one the ipad 2 and apple tv are connected to) without sending it to all the access points on the district wireless network? Short of every teacher having an independent wireless router in each of their rooms (which could still potentially interfere with the district wireless), I don't currently have a solution. I've heard the network guys through around terms like multicasting, unicasting, igmp, etc. I don't want to choke down the district wireless either, but there must be a solution to this. I could easily see 40 teachers in the complex all using iPad 2s mirroring through apple tvs attached to projectors all going on at the same time, but there might only be 3 or 4 on each access point.

Is there any way of getting a 7th Gen iPod Nano to sync the same as older generaqtions

I have two problems with my new iPod Nano (7th Gen).
1. When synced, artwork either isn't loaded at all or the wrong artwork is loaded against the wrong artist.
2. When I play an album the songs are not played in the correct order, but shuffled automatically.
Can anybody suggest answeres to sorting these issues?
Frankly, if not, the 7th Gen Ipod is a serious regression - it feels more like a very old mp3 player!

The songs are still on her ipod.
They should transfer ok but make sure and use the same Apple ID that was used for the original purchase.
Connect the iPod to a computer, launch iTunes.
From the iTunes menu bar click File > Transfer Purchases From...
Make sure and backup the iTunes purchases > How to back up your media in iTunes

If you put your info into the computer and hand it to another, you have to assume they will copy everything.

If it's iTunes music, it has your personal ID embedded into the song files. Most IT techs know this though.

Too late now, all you can do is not worry about it.
Take your personal info out of the machine and if you need it, burn cd/dvd copies, a few USB thumb drives, Iron Keys or self encrypting external storage drives with key and/or keypad.

Your contacts should still be on whatever program you sync your iphone to (i.e. Outlook, address book).
The iphone is not a stand alone device. It is designed to be synced with a computer. If you have not been syncing with a compatible program, then you are out of luck. Your contacts are not included in the back-up because it is meant to be synced with your computer.
