Is there a way to get pictures that I have deleted from my camera roll and photo stream back on my phone?

I accidentally deleted pictures from my camera roll and they weren't in my photo stream (so I guess I must've deleted it from there too), and I want to know if there's a possible way to recover my old pictures.

You can either sync them back to your iPhone is you have them saved on a computer, or you can restore from a backup if you have one. Those would be about your only options. iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

If you deleted them from both PhotoStream and the camera roll, and you don't otherwise have them backed up, they're gone.

If they were on the iphone at last sync, then you may be able to restore from backup and get them back.
Otherwise, they are gone.

Thanks @pdroth. I did a quick Google search of DB indexing. I'm not sure I found exactly what you were referring to but I see where you're going with it. I can understand that indexing my database of stored photos can be time consuming. It's frustrating that the space can't be recognized as being free more quickly.
I notice that some items I delete seem to free up the space much more quickly. Removing an app entirely or deleting from my Music generally shows up as available space in Usage pretty quickly.
Deleting a photo or video from the Camera Roll will take MUCH longer, so I guess that has something to do with the indexing process you are referring to.
I'd like to point out that when I run out of space on an SD card on any budget point and click digital camera that I can quickly delete a picture or two and INSTANTLY be able to take a couple of new photos in their place. I guess I just have that same expectation for the $500+ engineering marvel I have in my hand right now.

Photos in the camera roll are included in your backup and should be recovered by restoring the backup to a replacement phone. Photo stream photos remain in iCloud for 30 days. When you reconnect to photo stream you will get back any photo stream photos from the last 30 days.

Deleting pictures from camera roll and photo stream but not from other folders

I am new to I phone and using iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1.2.
I like to keep my photo folder organised and sorted. For example I created different folders on my iPhone for wallpapers, my personal pics and work pics.
Now after adding all these pics to their respective folders i deleted them from Camera roll and my photo stream ( thinking that they would still be in their folders) and now I am screwed, because everything is deleted .
Thankfully, I have the backup, but please can anyone help me to understand the difference between camera roll and my photo stream and how could i keep all my pics in different folders and just not in camera roll or my photo stream.

The way I do that is to organize them on my computer. I periodically import all of the Camera Roll to the computer. That is a good thing to do to insure you have a copy in case of loss of the phone or other problem, even if you backup the phone. Import can be done by methods described in iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Once they are on the computer I organize them in iPhoto on my Mac. If you have a Windows computer you can organize them in folders. Once they are on the computer I delete them all from the Camera Roll on the phone to make it easier next time -- i.e., the Camera Roll always only contains the photos that I haven't yet organized.
I only want some of the pictures that I am keeping to be sent back to the phone, so in Windows I made a second copy of those (in iPhoto on a Mac I use Albums instead). I had a main folder (e.g. "Photos for iPhone") and subfolders (only 1 level below the main folder) with various topics. Then use iTunes to sync the photos back to the phone (selecting the main folder). iTunes: Syncing photos
The end result is that they are organized in Albums on the phone, are not in the Camera Roll, and I have a copy of them on my computer.

80% percent of photos we take are bad photos, we delete them later when reviewing them. Now the photos are in both camerroll and photostrean. When we delete them from the camera roll they do not get deleted from photo stream, when I delete them from photo stream they do not get deleted from camera roll.

Even 20 days later, the answer is the same.....you have to delete photos from them individually - they are kept in separate places, so you have to delete them from both if you don't want them. However, photostream will, eventually, "delete" the bad photos, since it only keeps up to 1000, and then starts overlaying the oldest ones....

Upgraded to 8.0.2 on 5. Lost all photos in camera roll and photo stream. I used a recovery tool that shows the photos are still in there 'somewhere' but they want $70 to recover them. Any free methods? I shouldn't have to pay for Apple's screw up!

Also, I did a backup on iTunes before the upgrade but after the upgrade completed, it performed a backup that overwrote the last one I did. At least I think it did, there is only one backup showing up in the MobileSync-Backup folder on my computer. Also, in iTunes on the bottom of the screen, the bar that shows how much storage space is being used by what, its number of pics is several hundred more than the number of pics on my phone. The ones it didn't erase were in a different album that I had uploaded from my computer (ironic that the pics that I didn't lose in the upgrade, I already have copies of on my computer). Anyhow, I used a trial version of recovery program called Wondershare Dr.Fone for ios, and while I'm definately not here to promote them, after it did the scan on my iphone, it showed thumbnails of all the missing photos, along with everything else I'd ever done on my phone lol. So I do know they are in there, I just can't afford to pay $70 to retrieve them, nor do I think I should have to as the upgrade caused them to be missing! Does anyone know of a free recovery tool? This works only for new photos, but you could also create a shared photo stream to share older pictures with someone else. (This shared photo streams will be also displayed on your other iOS devices or on a Mac using iPhoto/Aperture and should also work on a PC)

No.
iCloud isn't a file storage service.
You can backup your camera roll but you can only restore the entire roll to the device.
Backup your photos to your computer.

Pictures not always uploaded from Camera Roll to Photo Stream

Hi all,
I am experiencing a "not so constant" behavior of Photo Stream.
I noticed that sometimes not all the photos taken with the IPhone are uploaded to Photo Stream. Given that this upload may be poosible only if the iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network, is there a way to force the synch between Camera Roll and Photo Stream?

Well, last night I tried to:
disable Photo Stream in iCloud settings on the iPhone
"delete" the whole iCoud account on the iPhone and then log in again
reset Photo Stream in the advanced options of my account on icloud.com
This caused all the pictures of the iPhone Photo Stream gallery and on iCloud.com to be deleted, so I restarted from a clean condition. Then I took three photos, but only the second and the third were uploaded to Photo Stream on iCloud, to the Photo Stream gallery of the iPhone and subsequently downloaded to the Photo Stream folder of my PC.
Still puzzled...

It sounds like you are using an application to import. You can do it manually.
Start > Computer (on the right) > scroll to the bottom and you will see your iPhone under Portable Devices > Open it and you will see a Drive, open that and there will be a DCIM folder. That is where your photos will be (There may be other folders each holding photos).

Only if you have a copy of them e.g. if they were on your iPad when you last backed then you can try restoring to that backup. But unlike on a computer there is no trashcan or recycle bin on an iPad, once they are deleted from an iPad then they are gone from it.
