When you launch Safari, hold the SHIFT key.
Alternatively, disable the window restore feature in Sys Prefs > General: "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps," or uncheck the box for restoring windows after restart in the restart pop-up box.

Ah, well, then the notes are probably gone. Did you save any of the email from that account on your computer? The notes might be there if you did.

Do you have a back up?
If not you're into using file recovery software like File Salvage - you can download a free trial and it will scan the disk for you and tell you with might be recoverable. Actual recovery will require that you purchase the app. There may be many files with the same or similar names. Always recover the largest file size.

Is there a way to get Elements 10 to open files from my Nikon D600?

Or do I really have to buy Elements 11? Elements 10 does everything I need for editing and I don't want to waste money on an upgrade right now. Is there ANY way around it? I've tried downloading the DNG converter, but when I try to open files to convert, none of my RAW files show up, not even from my old camera. I also tried to install updates for Elements10, including an update for ACR, but that didn't help either. Is there anything at all that I can do?

For Nikon D600, you have to get PSE 11.
With PSE 10 you cant open the RAW images for D 600

For D600, ACR 7.3 is required which is available in PSE 11, not in PSE 10
Alternatively, you can convert RAW images to DNG using DNG converter and then can view those DNG in PSE 10.

Is there a way for network mounts NOT to open up with windows at startup?

I have dragged several network volumes in the startup pane of my account in system preferences - so that when my computer starts up it automatically connects to various computers on the network and they mount on my desktop.
However, each network volume opens a window, so after they have all mounted, I end up with 5 windows on my desktop.
For a while now I've just been closing each window, but I want to know if there is a way for the network volumes to mount without new windows opening.
I've tried checking the "hide" option in the startup pane and that didn't work.

Thanks Niel, I don't know how to use applescript - so I have a few clarifying questions.
1) I'm not sure what to write to specify the network volume name. So instead of "close every window", should I type, "close network volume 1 window, network volume 2 window, network volume 3 window" (substituting "network volume..." for the actual name)?
2) Also for the delay, I assume the number 3 represent seconds - so does this mean if I type "delay 30" it will close all or specified windows after 30 seconds after startup? Would I put "delay 30" after "close every window"?

I got a new laptop, but I can't find my creative suite 6 cd. Is there any way to get my CS6 programs from my windows 7 laptop to my new windows 8 laptop?

I guess I didn't register it to this account since it's not there. I'm going to check my other emails to see if maybe I registered it to a different account and I'm going to keep looking for the cd. But is there any hope of getting my programs from one laptop to my new one?

I love using firefox app tabs, but they always disappear when I restart firefox. Is there any way to get chosen app tabs to load when firefox restarts?

Firefox 5 has a great new feature called app tabs, but it looks like I'm stuck resetting them every time I quit firefox or restart my computer. It seems to me the whole point of "pinned" app tabs is that they're the sites you read most frequently, and therefore it would be useful if they loaded automatically when firefox was started. Is there a way to do this? Do I have firefox on the wrong settings? Or am I stuck re-creating my app tabs every time I restart my computer / firefox??

Thanks for the reply, it seems to have solved my issue.
My tabs are normal and unpinned, I just have Firefox set to open all my current tabs. Safe Mode didn't seem to have this issue, so I disabled Classic Theme Restorer. Several restarts didn't have problems, so I enabled it again and now this isn't happening anymore. Hopefully it stays gone for good and didn't just stop momentarily.
Edit. So as soon as I posted this, it started happening again. More testing definitely points to Classic Theme Restorer as the cause, so I'll have to investigate solutions on that end.

Is there a way to get Safari to download tabs in background?

If I do a search on something and as I scroll through the search results, I usually Command Click to open a result in a new tab.
I could open about 5 or 6 tabs but none of them download until I click on the tab to bring it into focus. So if I'm scanning down the results and one of the tabs could be a PDF, it only starts loading once I activate the tab which seems a bit of an illogical waste of time as it could be have downloaded in the background while I was looking at other things. What it does do however is that if I click on a tab that could be a PDF d/l of about 5 MB say, as soon as I activate the tab, it starts to download, I can then zap to another tab, get that to download, zap to the third tab, then the fourth and so on... So my usual ritual is to do my search, open the search results in several tabs, and then quickly zap through each one of the new tabs to start the screen loading.
So... Is there a setting in Safari to get EACH tab to download as soon as I Command click?
I find Firefox to be a miles better browser than Safari but switched to Safari because FF had a slight irritating "nudgey" delay when scrolling which Safari doesn't. However, maybe I should switch back to FF because there are far too many "quirky irritations" with Safari that I'm noticing... e.g. if I have one tab open, it doesn't display a tab, but when I open a new tab (i.e. a second tab) in the background, the first screen jerks down because the tab for the first screen now appears! It should be there initially!
Anyway, I apologise for digressing... if there's some setting for background loading of tabs in Safari, it would be great!

You're right.. Command click from search results should open in a new tab then load that webpage.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If nothing above has helped, make sure your system software is up to date.
Click the Apple  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update.

I deleted an email account that had my notes attached to it. Is there a way to get those notes back?

My work recently switched email servers, but kept the same domain name. I needed to add the new email to my iPad and get rid of the old one because with the same name, it was too difficult to tell which email address to choose to send emails from. I deleted the old one and then realized that all my notes had been typed under that account and are now gone.
I tried re-adding the email server but sadly my notes did not come back. Any suggestions??

Is there a way to have Safari not reload the page when moving back and forth?

I really like being able to swipe back and forth in Safari, however when I do this, it reloads the page. Why? Can't it just used the cached content? I understand that my view my be 'outdated', but I could always manually refresh if I wanted to.
The reason I want this is because when you swipe back, it takes a few seconds before you can actually scroll the page while you wait for it to load, which is annoying

Is there a way around the cloud not being compatible with windows xp?

I have been using a blackberry bold but am excited to be purchasing the iphone 4s. My idea was to use 1 phone for both personal and business use. I have been synching the blackberry with outlook (non enterprise). I am a solo attorney and have one office computer not on a server. I was planning on synching business stuff (calendar, contacts) with outlook in the office on my windows xp computer and synch my media from a family shared library (via my playlist) on the cloud.
Do you have any suggestions as to how I can synch my contacts, calendar, etc to all of my i devices (incl. ipad 2 and itouch as well as my iphone ) without using hosted outlook exchange. (Exchange is not compatible with other office software).

If you try and run ApplePhotoStreams.exe or ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe you get an error saying "The procedure entry point SHGetKnownFolder path could not be located in the dll SHELL32.dll." It looks like this function call is not supported for XP:

When I reload a page(or window) is there a way to automatically go back to the previous "window section" (not the upper left corner)?

I use the "reload every" add-on. It works great. The problem I am trying to solve is to keep from having to scroll down and slide right after every reload to get to the position I was in previously. In my case it is a chart of stocks on the move that I am reloading often, which is located in the middle of a page.
Is there another add-on that will solve my problem?

Is there a way to get the new tab opened by ctrl+click to open to the right of the current tab, rather than the far right?

I'm using Firefox 6.0.2.
In previous versions there was an option to select where a new tab using ctrl+click would open. For instance, if I have 5 tabs open and am using the third tab and ctrl+click on a link, I would like that link to open in position 4, not position 6 (which is the default).

The default is to open the new tab next to the tab that is in use. The setting is:
* browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent -set to true

I only have mail and calendar tabs so switching is not a problem it's more a problem of "out of sight out of mind" for me.
So it would be nice if I could click an option to always open Thunderbird in the calender tab regardless of where I closed it last. Similar to
"tools/options/general" buttons.
