I want siri, however, I only have an iPad 2 and not a 3 so wanted to know if I could get siri WITHOUT a jailbreak.

Is there any way to get Siri to work via wifi through a proxy?

I work in a school that has wifi with Internet accessible through a proxy. With my previous iPhone 3GS, I was able to get online, access the app store.. In fact, do everything on wifi except receive and send email. Now, with the 4s, I have to add Siri to that list. It works fine everywhere else (on 3G or wifi) but no joy at work. Any ideas? I do have access to the school server so if there's a sneaky server side change to make, I can :)

We were having the same problem here at the School I work at. By looking at some traffic logs and doing some internal testing, it appears Siri attempts to make a direct connection to the outside network using HTTPS (port 443), without using any of the proxy settings you may have configured on the Wifi network.
We've reported it as a bug to Apple but haven't heard anything back yet.
To get around it in the meantime you'll have to punch a hole in your firewall to allow Siri traffic through.
Currently Siri appears to contact IP address 17.174.4.14 over port 443. The IP address may change in the future, but that will at least get you up and going for now. We went ahead and opened the entire 17.174.4.0/24 network, as the entire block of addressess is owned by Apple.
Again, there is no gaurentee that this will not change in the future and break again.

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

Is there a way to make Siri ignore shared calendars when I ask what's on my schedule or when I schedule an event?

My wife and I share each other's calendars with each other through iCloud. It's a great way (obviously) to see what we have going on for the day and avoid scheduling conflicts.
When I ask Siri what's on my calendar, she treats my wife's shared calendar as my own as in she shows me both of our events. And when I schedule an event with Siri, she will tell me that I have conflicts based on my wife's calendar.
Is there any way around this? A way to get Siri to understand that my wife's calendar is just for reference and does not contain my events?

This has been an annoyance of mine for awhile. I would love to be able to designate which calendars "count" when siri is thinking about me.

If you put your info into the computer and hand it to another, you have to assume they will copy everything.
Why are you putting scanned copies of valuable identity information into a computer than can be hacked, stolen, lost or compromised by a dirty tech?

If it's iTunes music, it has your personal ID embedded into the song files. Most IT techs know this though.

Too late now, all you can do is not worry about it.
Take your personal info out of the machine and if you need it, burn cd/dvd copies, a few USB thumb drives, Iron Keys or self encrypting external storage drives with key and/or keypad.

Your contacts should still be on whatever program you sync your iphone to (i.e. Outlook, address book).
The iphone is not a stand alone device. It is designed to be synced with a computer. If you have not been syncing with a compatible program, then you are out of luck. Your contacts are not included in the back-up because it is meant to be synced with your computer.
