Is there a way to get the IP address of a "remote" system on the LAN without using Share Screen and checking the network settings?
I'm trying to better understand Mac's with respect to networking. It seems that my computer should know the IP address of ever system listed on the Local Area Network, but all I see is the system name. Is there a way to determine the IP address also?
I have tried using "Get Information", but that produces no useful data.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

What you are hearing is correct. There is currently no Mac app for iBooks, so no way to get them on the Mac.
You can use many of the other e-reader apps like Kindle on all of your devices and your Mac.

Is there a way to get a permanent address to an afp server?
I am connecting to my other mac in the local network, but I want to use Quicksilver to quickly connect to the server with a hotkey. I checked the afp address in the Sharing preference pane, and it seemed to work fine, but it didn't work the next day. When I checked the address, it had changed. Is there any way to connect using the same address every time?
The way I do that is reserve an IP address in my router.
Then, even though I leave the network setup Using DHCP, it still gets the same IP address all the time. -
I used the quick selection tool to get this far...I will be showing the result of adjusting the Radius slider...
At 5 px you can already see the changes to the edges...
And at 30 px...I've looked at this several times now, but it has me stumped! I just can't think of circumstances that might cause this. The firs thing to try when things are properly weird is to reset Preferences (I don't think there is a reset option for refine Edge).

I found my old iPod that I haven't used since about 2010, and I no longer have the computer that the library was synced with. Is there any way to get my music off of it so that I can put it on my new iPod? The old one is a 30 GB from 2005.
CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back. So probably won't run on modern operating systems. If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

Is there a way to get my contact list, music, pictures, messages, ect. back after a FORCED Restore? After upgrading to the ios 6.0 my phone went into what I later learned was "Recovery Mode" I didn't have option to save info before restoring phone.
Did you not back it up before installing a major firmware upgrade?

If you are meaning [http://wpepro.net http://wpepro.net], that tool doesn't use Firefox in the slightest. It uses TCP/IP (part of Windows) to Monitor networks (it can also be used nefariously).
Please update your Firefox to Firefox 11, as the version you are running Is vulnerable to Many known security holes. After you do that, try to see if your problem is still going on. -
IS there a way to get a schedule view of events on a busy day in iCal on the iPad 2 Air and on the Macbook Pro? I can get this view on an iPhone.
I am paranoid that some untrusted technician is going to make a copy of my music (11,000 tracks) or share some of my personal information (scanned copies of my birth certificate, passport, certificates, photos, etc.) on the web.
If you put your info into the computer and hand it to another, you have to assume they will copy everything.
Why are you putting scanned copies of valuable identity information into a computer than can be hacked, stolen, lost or compromised by a dirty tech?

No. The tech would just deny it if he did, or tell the truth which the answer would be "NO" in either case.
The employer won't ask that sort of questions without solid proof, less they make a enemy of the employee and/or risk being sued for defamation of character.

If it's iTunes music, it has your personal ID embedded into the song files. Most IT techs know this though.

Too late now, all you can do is not worry about it.
Take your personal info out of the machine and if you need it, burn cd/dvd copies, a few USB thumb drives, Iron Keys or self encrypting external storage drives with key and/or keypad. -
Is there any way to get a log of the bluetooth devices my Iphone has been connected to? I recenly had my Bluetooth Jabra stolen from my car and now a simliar one is on Craigslist. Your contacts should still be on whatever program you sync your iphone to (i.e. Outlook, address book).
The iphone is not a stand alone device. It is designed to be synced with a computer. If you have not been syncing with a compatible program, then you are out of luck. Your contacts are not included in the back-up because it is meant to be synced with your computer.

In previous versions of i Tunes I could highlight a song in my library and a genious list would show on the right side of the screen listing songs that were like the one highlighted. Now I do not get that list. Is there a way to get that back?

When I enter a new event on iCal with the time, it leaves the time off of the Monthly view and in order for me to glance at the times of the day's events I have to click on each event or go into the event and edit it again putting the time on, for it to show. Is there a way to get it to show without doing this?
