Is there a way to get the User Preferences API in the Application?

I'd like to use the NSUserDefaults system, specifically the UI build by a Settings Bundle, to display IN my app, and not the General Settings. I already know how to use NSUserDefaults to store-retrieve items, but I don't see why I should build the Settings UI manually in my app when I merely want exactly what it does in Settings.
Does the API support this, or is there a third party tool? I haven't run across anything in Google.

Is there a way to get a user login record after sleep?

I know that by opening terminal and typing in "last" (without the quote marks) that it will give me about a 3 week record of who has logged on my computer after shutdowns and restarts.
What I want to know is this:
a) Is there a way to get a user login record after the computer only goes to sleep?
b) is there a way to get the terminal to go back further than just 3 weeks or so for the shutdown/restart records?
Is there software that might do this???

My first question can be explained this way: To get into the computer when it is coming out of sleep you need to type in a password, then it opens to the desktop. Is there a way I can find out the times over the course of a day/week/month that this is being done? i.e., is there a log being made somewhere of when the computer is being opened and signed onto after being asleep?
When you wake the computer from a sleep, you are not logging in again so there will be
no record of the event as a "login"
My computer possibly could be used by a few other people that have access to my computer password (don't ask why) and I basically want to know if they are signing on when I am away from my desk.
You may want to look at /var/log/asl.log or /var/log/secure.log which contain details of
authentication attempts (which is what you are doing) and failures.
I am not asking why you have multiple people accessing your computer with your password --
but consider setting up separate username, it is a lot easier to manage and you will probably
not be asking questions like this one.

If the backup is corrupt, there is nothing that can be done.
For what reason did you choose to not copy the pictures off the device to a computer prior to attemping an update or whatever caused the need to restore? iPhones are not intended as sole storage of any media.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are not able to locate the Messages application on your daughters iPod touch (4th generation). The good news is that this application cannot be deleted or restricted. The first suggestion I have is to try and search for Messages using Spotlight to search the iPod touch for this application. If Messages is located in Spotlight, then it has probably been moved to a different page of applications or even possibly a folder of applications on the device. Searching all pages will help you locate it.

No, you have to have turned it on. For example, in itunes, the first tab for your device, you can specifiy to back up to icloud instead of itunes.

I am looking at an issue with users not getting specific group policies.
After searching a number of client computers I found that the following error

I can find the folder in the Sysvol folder on all of the domain controllers.
The issue with end users seems to be that the proxy settings for internet explorer is not being applied.

Hi all
In administering this policy I am a little confused.
We have a policy that distributes proxy settings in the internet explorer maintenance settings section - however when opening this policy up in GPO editor the internet explorer maintenance section is not present.
I plan to apply the settings via User/preferences/control panel settings/ internet settings (or registry settings from article) however I am unable to edit the settings for internet explorer maintenance and these will persist. Ideas????

I'm not sure about older versions, but in Pages 3.x (OS X 10.9.x) select File > Revert To > Browse All Versions. Hopefully there will be an earlier version that you can "revert to".

I was just wondering, after updating the OS to iOS 7.1 to see if there is a way to get rid of a dark hue at the top of the screen. Before updating the wallpaper looked normal (just like the original picture), but after updating there was sudden a dark hue at the top of the screen. Is there anyway to get rid of it, because it's getting in the way of the wallpaper.

Try and slightly zoom in on the image and relocate it until the hue is gone. You shouldn't have to zoom in too much just a little bit Nd try moving the image around until the phone believes it doesn't need to contrast anymore. Good luck

I used to have location services toggle in SB settings as i use my iPhone for Sat Nav so regularly switch the location services off and on
But the new IOS 7.0 doesnt have a location services' toggle

The Control Center is not user adjustable. Location services, if you're not actively navigating, are not an incredibly huge battery drain, for what it's worth.

Is there a way to get music from your iPod onto the computer?

I recieved most of the music that is currently on my iPod from my cousin, but if i want to add some of MY music to the iPod then i have to erase all of her music off of it! Is there a way to save the music that is already on there and then put it back on the iPod once it has been erased?

First of all try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

One if from redeeming an iTunes gift card. Two, setting up a credit or debit card account with iTunes associated with your Apple ID, or purchase the thumb drive > OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive - Apple Store (U.S.)
If you redeemed an iTunes gift card, make sure there is enough funds available. You need to take into account when you purchase apps including Lion, there may be applicable taxes or fees added the original purchase price.

Is there a way to get an owned dvd movie into the movie folder for eventual syncing w/ipad?

I own a collection of Pink Panther old movies some of which I'd like to load into my movie folder on my iMac and then sync them into my iPad2 for viewing while traveling, etc. Is there a way to do this or am I limited to what's available on the Apple store?

But if they're not copy-protected, you can use Handbrake. It works pretty well to rip to H264 format.
