Is there a way to have audio only come through the optic cable and video come only through HDMI on Apple TV 3rd Gen?
I currently have a digital optic cable hook up from my Apple TV 3 to my receiver and a HDMI hook up from my Apple TV 3to my flat screen. The audio is coming out of my TV speakers and receiver at the same time. I was wonder if there was a way to switch the audio output from the Apple TV 3 to the digital optic cable and only have video come out of the HDMI? I really only plan on using my receiver for the audio for my Apple TV 3. I know that I can just mute the TV but I wanted to know if there was a way to switch the feed. Thanks
There is an option on my TV but if I do that I lose all my audio on the TV. I have 3 HDMI ports on my Flat Screen. One is for my cable, one is for my PS3 (BTW the PS3 has an option to switch the audio feed so it will come out of the digital optic cable and leave video for the HDMI), and the last one is for my Apple TV 3. If I switch to external speakers I will lose my audio for the cable. I was hoping there was a way to switch the audio feed on the Apple TV 3.

Is there a way to play an mp4 file at the beginning of a published project only when the project is accessed from a specific site?
A little background info. I use Captivate 7 and currently have over 100 projects that I maintain on a quarterly basis. I publish using the SWF format and upload the swf/htm files to a server where they are then accessed from a few locations (within our online documentation, in our software product, on two different websites). Many of the projects are linked so some will be viewed as a series and others viewed as a standalone video. Each video uses the same template and includes an intro and end slide. Now my organization wants to implement a new intro to all videos (those I publish and those from several groups across the organization). My current intros provide overview material for the specific video so the new intro, which is an animation with audio in mp4 format, would need to be placed at the start of each project. The issue is, the intro adds 9 seconds to every video and in many cases doesn’t add any value (say, if a user accesses the video from within our product or views the videos as a series). I’ve talked it over with my boss and we want to try to add the intro only to videos accessed from site X, not any other location. So now to my question. Is there a way to play an external mp4 file (intro) only when the published project is accessed from a specific site, therefore eliminating the need to update each project? Maybe there's a way to add a parameter or variable to the URL or the html code?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Please let me know if you need additional information.AimeeLove,
I have a solution for you. You may have to modify the code a little bit based on how long the timeline animation is for your clock. I based mine on 3 seconds to complete a minute hand sweep around the clock.
Milliseconds for each point on the clock:
12 = 0
1 = 250
2 = 500
3 = 750
4 = 1000
5 = 1250
6 = 1500
7 = 1750
8 = 2000
9 = 2250
10 = 2500
11 = 2750
In the mouseover section for 12 o' clock, put this code...
myVar = setInterval(function(){
var pos = sym.getPosition();
if (pos > 0 && pos < 50){
sym.stop(0);
clearInterval(myVar);
},10);
When you point to the time, the setInterval method loops every 100th of a second and checks the current position of the timeline. When the timeline reaches the range between 0 and 50 milliseconds (almost impossible to hit 1 specific point), the timeline will stop at 0. Also, the clearInterval will be fired to stop the loop.
In the mouseout section, put this...
sym.play();
clearInterval(myVar);
It start the clock again, and it also clears the loop in case you mouseout before you reach the range.
Make sure that myVar is a global variable so you can clear it from the mouseout section.
Repeat this for each point on the clock. To avoid potential conflicts, you may want to use my12, my1, my2, etc. instead of myVar. I put the milliseconds at the top that you would use as the beginning of the range. 50 milliseconds should be enough to catch it. So, for 5 o' clock, you would make your range between 1250 and 1300.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

RE: Is there a way to have 2 network cards on the samemachine
Sean,
I mean I am always connecting to the nodemgr of the 2nd environment
successfully. Only when I run the client part of the application that I know
is up, I get a response from the Name Server that it is actually the first
IP address.
I checked again. I defenitely have FORTE_NS_ADDRESS set to IP:5004, in my
case, and not the hostname. I don't have FORTE_LOCATIONS set any where. the
NS_ADDRESS for env2 has only 1 IP address associated with it. My Forte
Control Panel on the client, and hence the NS address has only one entry.
I tried going into escript like you said, and the name service still thinks
it is IP1.

Hmmmm? That is a little odd! Let me rehash what I think you are saying.
You now have two environments each with their own name service with
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS set to a different IP:Port combination. For example you
are doing the steps:
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS=255.255.255.1:5000
start the nodemgr for env 1
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS=255.255.255.2:5000
start the nodemgr for env 2
Now when you start a client you are always getting the address for env 1
back from the nodemgr. I assume you actually mean the name service? Or, do
you mean you are always connecting to the nodemgr & name service for env
1?
If the first scenario is the case and you are connecting to the nodemgr
for
env 2 but getting back IP's for services listening on the card for env 1 I
would ask you what you are setting the FORTE_LOCATIONS value to before you
start each service. If you are not setting it or are using the host name
it
will register using the IP for the primary network card associated with
the
machine name and I am again assuming that this is env 1. You need to set
the FORTE_LOCATIONS variable to 255.255.255.2:0 (based on the steps above)
before starting your services.
If the second scenario is the case I would have you check what the
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS is set to before you start up the client. Once again it
must be the IP:Port combination not host:port combination if you want to
get
anything other than the primary card.
I would also suggest that you do the following. After everything is up
and
running execute the following commands:
escript -fns "ip for env1":port
findsub nameservice
showpart
What you should see is everything currently registered under the name
service. It will have the name and any "locations" (IP and port) that it
is
registered as listening on. I would look for the nodemgr and see where it
has advertised itself. I would then look for any services you expect to
be
registered there and also verify where the have advertised themselves. If
there are multiple locations listed for any one service, the client will
use
the first one in the list.
Do the same for env 2.

OK, you ran into one of the issues. That is, if both addresses areknown
to
the client that is trying to contact the partition it will always usethe
first address in FORTE_LOCATIONS. This is because FORTE_LOCATIONS was
designed more as a failover mechanism. So it will always try the
first
address in the list and if it succeeds, there is no reason to move onto
the
second.
Now, the second issue is that there is currently a problem with theclient
failover to the secondary address in FORTE_LOCATIONS. If the firstentry
fails it is supposed to retry on the second entry. Instead, it
retries
the
first entry again. I know that Forte knows about this but I do nothave
a
bug number on it.
With that said, lets look at a possible solution for you. If the real
objective here is to have a back up network card available for fail
over
on
the same machine, or use one card to advertise outside your firewalland
one
to use inside, then you will have to contact Forte to determine whenthe
failover problem will be fixed. But, if the objective is to loadbalance
across the network cards you could have the environment manager listenon
both ports and then alternate your server partitions across both
cards.
For
example:
set FORTE_NS_ADDRESS=card1:5000;card2:5000 and then start up the
environment
manager
set FORTE_LOCATIONS=card1:0 (the 0 in the port causes the OS to pick a
port)
and start partition one
set FORTE_LOCATIONS=card2:0 and start partition two
and so on....
In this scenario the environment manager will be listening on bothcards
but
each server will be listening on only one of the two cards. So if a
request
comes in for partition1 it will go through card one and if it is for
partition two it will go through card two. You could assign your
partitions
to cards based on expected load.
Well, I am done. I hope this helps!

Sean,
Thanks for your reply. I tried the approach. I was not very specificin
my

I was succesfully able to make the nodemgr listen on both the cardsand
actually serve requests coming in from both the cards. But, followingyour
advise, I took a cautious step with FORTE_LOCATIONS. Here is what I
noticed.
I have an application that has 6 partitions in total. I used
FORTE_LOCATION
to make it listen on 1. Both the cards. 2. Swapped the IP addresses
for
both
cards for this application. 3. One card that I want it to listen on. I
tried
all approaches by exporting the locations variable for just this
application. The nodemgr recieves a request from this pc connected onthe
second card to talk to one of the partitions. The node mgr responds
with
a
proxy - with the ip address and socket number of the first card. The
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS variable looks like this:
IP1:5002;IP2:5002.
Is it possible atall to resolve my problem, without having a seperate

Venkat,
Actually, it is possible for Forte to listen on more than one IP andport
combination. The first reply to your message was correct. If you
set
the
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS to contain multiple entries before starting the
name
service, it will advertise on both. For Forte servers you use the
FORTE_LOCATIONS env variable to get it to advertise on multipleip:port
combinations.
We were doing something very similar with another customer I was at

get
around a firewall. I will warn you that there are some issues with
FORTE_LOCATIONS that may keep that portion from working. However,
from
reading your note, it appears that all you need is for the nameservice
to
advertise and listen on multiple ports and that works fine. I justtested
it again for sanity sake and it worked. I ran my test on NT using
Forte
3G2.

Technically yes this is possible, though not in Forte. A nameserver
can
only listen on one port.
To implement this scheme you will have to write a proxy service (insome
language
including perhaps forte) which listens on the well-known port on the
second card, reads requests, then forwards them to the realnameservice
(wkp on the first card), and forwards replies back. This is not
trivial, but some firewall toolkit vendors supply stub code to write
application specific proxies.

Subject: RE: Is there a way to have 2 network cards on the same machine
My requirement is that my second card serves as best case performance
testing piece. This eliminates the network completely. We went one step
ahead and created a new enviromnent for the second card. Whatever I do,
the
nodemgr is returning back the IP address of the first card, even though my
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS does not have the first card in the picture any where.
I think Forte is doing a host look up and returning the first IP address
it
finds, as opposed to returning the IP address specified in the environment
variable FORTE_NS_ADDRESS. Is there a way to trick it?

OK, you ran into one of the issues. That is, if both addresses areknown
to
the client that is trying to contact the partition it will always usethe
first address in FORTE_LOCATIONS. This is because FORTE_LOCATIONS was
designed more as a failover mechanism. So it will always try the first
address in the list and if it succeeds, there is no reason to move on to
the
second.
Now, the second issue is that there is currently a problem with theclient
failover to the secondary address in FORTE_LOCATIONS. If the firstentry
fails it is supposed to retry on the second entry. Instead, it retries
the
first entry again. I know that Forte knows about this but I do not havea
bug number on it.
With that said, lets look at a possible solution for you. If the real
objective here is to have a back up network card available for fail over
on
the same machine, or use one card to advertise outside your firewall and
one
to use inside, then you will have to contact Forte to determine when the
failover problem will be fixed. But, if the objective is to loadbalance
across the network cards you could have the environment manager listenon
both ports and then alternate your server partitions across both cards.
For
example:
set FORTE_NS_ADDRESS=card1:5000;card2:5000 and then start up the
environment
manager
set FORTE_LOCATIONS=card1:0 (the 0 in the port causes the OS to pick a
port)
and start partition one
set FORTE_LOCATIONS=card2:0 and start partition two
and so on....
In this scenario the environment manager will be listening on both cards
but
each server will be listening on only one of the two cards. So if a
request
comes in for partition1 it will go through card one and if it is for
partition two it will go through card two. You could assign your
partitions
to cards based on expected load.
Well, I am done. I hope this helps!

Sean,
Thanks for your reply. I tried the approach. I was not very specific in
my
question. I do need the ability for server applications to listen and
server
on both the network cards.
I was succesfully able to make the nodemgr listen on both the cards and
actually serve requests coming in from both the cards. But, followingyour
advise, I took a cautious step with FORTE_LOCATIONS. Here is what I
noticed.
I have an application that has 6 partitions in total. I used
FORTE_LOCATION
to make it listen on 1. Both the cards. 2. Swapped the IP addresses for
both
cards for this application. 3. One card that I want it to listen on. I
tried
all approaches by exporting the locations variable for just this
application. The nodemgr recieves a request from this pc connected onthe
second card to talk to one of the partitions. The node mgr responds witha
proxy - with the ip address and socket number of the first card. The
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS variable looks like this:
IP1:5002;IP2:5002.
Is it possible atall to resolve my problem, without having a seperate
environment?
Thanks

Venkat,
Actually, it is possible for Forte to listen on more than one IP andport
combination. The first reply to your message was correct. If you setthe
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS to contain multiple entries before starting the name
service, it will advertise on both. For Forte servers you use the
FORTE_LOCATIONS env variable to get it to advertise on multiple
ip:port
combinations.
We were doing something very similar with another customer I was at toget
around a firewall. I will warn you that there are some issues with
FORTE_LOCATIONS that may keep that portion from working. However,
from
reading your note, it appears that all you need is for the nameservice
to
advertise and listen on multiple ports and that works fine. I justtested
it again for sanity sake and it worked. I ran my test on NT using
Forte
3G2.

Venkat,
Technically yes this is possible, though not in Forte.

Can this be done? If so how?

You can set restirctions so that it does not allow in app purchases.
You can try asking itunes support for an exception and see how it goes.

Is there a way to have a Numbers spreadsheet show the row numbers on ipad?
I am have a spreadsheet I am using for keeping count of the current people registered for an event.
If there a way to have one of the columns automatically show the row numbers so I can easily see the amount of people confirmed for the event without having to manually count them? Also, I will be adding and deleting lines and need Numbers to automatically show the row numbers without me having to change it.

Is there a way to have audio only play once in Adobe Cp 6?
I have a project that includes a click box. If the learner click OUTSIDE the click box then a failure caption comes up with audio. I'd like to have that audio play only once, even if they continue to click outside the click box. Right now, if they keep clicking outside the click box, the audio will start playing and I will have multiple instances of the audio playing (and soon it sounds like a cocktail party). How can I correct this?
Hi there,
If you want that the audio should play once after clicking that is possible, but after clicking outside it will replay that audio, but only one instance of audio will be there.
You can Insert two click boxes and One will cover the whole Slide (Incorrect ) and Other will be inside that click box (for correct region). Then You can apply standard actions on these click boxes when clicked, and include an action to stop triggered audio and another action to play the Audio.
Like below I added two click boxes and two text captions, Text Captions are not visible in output, they will only be visible after clicking the respective click box:
The advanced action on correct click box and shows the correct Caption and plays the audio for correct:
The advanced action on incorrect click box and shows the incorrect Caption and plays the audio for incorrect.
You can also change the attempts on that click box, by default it is infinite:
Is this what you want? please reply. -
Is there a way to have imessage on a pc the way they have it on a mac?
is there such application for pc users?
HI,
Messages can use AIM names (Or names valid as AIM Screen Names like @mac.com and @me.com ending ones)
On a PC you could use AIM for PC or Trillian (A multi-services App) and Chat.
It is supposed to Video but I have not tested this side yet (to AIM on a PC)
The Trillian App has a pay for Add-on called "Pro" that allows Video and Audio Chat (also Untested)
Text Only chats can be done between an Jabber or Google ID on Messages and a Jabber or the Google Talk app on a PC. (in this case Messages is Mac Only to iChat or Messages for Video and Audio Chats)
As Allan says though, the iMessages side can not be done to PC users.

Is there a way to have a search form for the CRM database?
I know there is a search form provided for the Web Apps. I can't seem to find how to create a search form for the CRM database. I have created a membership site, and also extended the CRM database with additional fields. I would like the users to be able to search on selected fields in the CRM database including the extended database fields. For example, I have a field called membership type in the extended database. I would like to be able to search on that in a search form. Is that possible?
ThanksSidney,
Your input is very helpful to put me on the track to find a workaround. As I tried using Web App approach, I get into a road block that hopefully you can help throw some light on.
This my scenerio: I created a Web App for holding the profile fields (called it Profile). I created a Page to display the Customer record (Names, usernames, email, etc, and I would also want to display the fields from the Profile Web App. I am at lost how to do that. Seems like I can only insert the web item list in that page but I actually want to display the Detall Layout instead of the List layout. To display the Detail Layout, I need to first manually choose the item before it will direct me to the Detail layout. I am trying to find a way to do this automatically based on the fact I have only one Profile web app item for each customer.
The question is whether there is a way to pull up a specific Profile web app item based on the customer's id or something that link the two together, using javascript or whatever method. Is there a tag to gives me the customer record id? If I can get that id, I could insert that id into one of the fields in the Profile Web App during creation of profile. Perhaps I can then pull up the profile item based on this id.
Thanks for all the help

Every time I click on a web site that has an email option the browser starts making untitled web pages and never stops unless I turn the computer off. It is very frustrating to not be able to use an email option when offered by a web site. The only way I can send email messages on the Firefox browser is to go into my hotmail acct. and copy and paste the addresses. I don't have this problem when I use the Internet Explorer browser.

Apple Mail keeps putting good messages into the Junk folder. I mark them as 'not junk', but then they just sit there. It is really tedious to have to move them back to the inbox, and change the colour back to black. Is there any way to do this automatically?
I originally placed this question on the Snow Leopard group, but since then I have updated to Lion. I was hoping that Lion would have provided a solution, but it seems not. In the Snow Leopard group, somebody posted a script which apparently works in Snow Leopard, but I have no idea if it works in Lion, as there doesn't seem to be any way to load scripts.
This is the script, anyway.
It was given to me by <Bernard Hills> but I don't know who wrote it.OK, I've discovered how to access the library.
It's here: http://techheavy.com/2011/07/access-the-user-library-folder-in-lion/
But I don't really want to try that script in case it screws something up. I know zero about scripting. -

Is there a way to have your PS script Query the name of your local Mail Server?
Hey Guys,
Really hoping someone can help me out here. I am currently working on a script that Automates the entire user creation process (AD account, Exchange Mailbox, UCM Soft phone). I want this script to be universal for all systems I have to work with.
By this I mean that I can run the script on various systems (Different Domains) without ever having to modify the code.
I have run into a bit of a problem while trying to automate the PSSession component of my script. I would like to be able to run he script and it inserts the relevant Mail server name based on some sort of Lookup or query. I am currently circumventing
the issue by having a text box pop up asking for the mail server name. It works, but its not really what I want for the end product. Its frustrating seeing as I have overcome similar issues for things like UPNs, AD Server, etc....
I have though about having it pull from the DNS MX records, but there are a number of different records for different Mail servers.
Any help would be awesome!Notice that this has drifted a whole long way from the original question. I pointed out that it is easy with Exchange but if the servers are in different companies or are not part of an enterprise deployment then you need to look at the local AD and
seek to the top. Any one mailbox wwil get you an exchange server to remote into and use the exchange shell to discover the network.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Looking back over the thread, that may be my fault. I mistook the comment about checking MX to mean he's just looking for a mail relay.

I have an order form where there are two fields that the original form filler does not fill out. The person who finally receives and processes the completed form needs to fill in those two fields. I'm not sure how to handle this. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
MDawnMy suggestion is a folder level script, that controls the visibility of form objects.
Only if this script is installed the fields will be visible.
You need three things for this.
1. The folder level script that has to be installed in the javascript folder of Acrobat or Reader:
var ShowMeAll = app.trustedFunction(function(doc)
app.beginPriv();
var ShowMe = this.xfa.form.Form1.Master.ShowAllContent;
ShowMe.rawValue = "Yes";
app.endPriv();
2. A hidden textfield in the form (on the masterpage for example).
Let's say you name it "ShowAllContent".
Put this script into it's docReady:Event.
try
event.target.ShowMeAll(event.target);
catch(e)
this.rawValue = "No";
3. A script in the layoutReady:event of the subforms or form fields you like to show/hide depending on the presence of the folder level script.
if (xfa.form.Form1.Master.ShowAllContent.rawValue == "Yes")
this.presence = "visible";
else
this.presence = "hidden"; -
Is there a way to have a seperate login within the webpage for clients use?

kentActual version of Muse does not allow you to do this. You need to costumize your code to achive the feature you need. Also if you want to have different user names/passwords ad different content outputs, you will need a CMS (content management system) behind your site.
