Is there a way to have iTunes installed on Windows 7 without the dvd drive disappearing?

I currently have iTunes version 11.0.2.26 installed on my Dell Inspiron 518 desktop but my dvd drive no longer works.  I understand that I can delete the Upper/Lower filters if I go into 'regedit', but is there a way to have both my dvd drive and iTunes fully functional?
Thank you for your help

This workded for iOS 6. I do not know if for iOS 7.

  • Is there a way to have iTunes show what is in the iTunes music folder?

I have several folders that I moved from an old iTunes music folder into a newer one on a different HD. I just put the music into the folder, but not into iTunes. So now, I have a huge folder of music that doesn't show up in my iTunes library. I was cleaning off the HD to make room for something else, so I deleted the "old" iTunes folder with all the music in it. The music is in my new iTunes folder, but not in my iTunes program. Sorry this is so convoluted!
What I want to know is this: Is there a way to have iTunes recognize and check for music in the iTunes folder that is not already in the iTunes program? Exactly what does consolidate library do? Could that solve the issue? I am a little intimidated because it says that it cannot be undone.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Chris,
You're a GENIUS!! Thank you!! That's exactly what I was looking for. I am in the process of doing it right now. Hopefully, everything goes well. You just made my day!
    Happy 2009,

  • Is there a way to have iTunes 11.0 (Windows) automatically login with my apple id?

This is really annoying for me. I just transferred my music from a legacy iMac to my newer machine. That process itself was a pain in the behind, because I was also going form iTunes 10 to iTunes 11, but that's neither here nor there.
However, in the course of doing this, I had the dubious pleasure of logging in with my Apple Id multiple times. As I almost never use iTunes to buy music anymore (I honestly wouldn't bother using it at all if a lot of my music didn't have that old drm from years ago), I can never remember this thing. Is there a way to store my Apple Id password within iTunes so I don't have to dig it out the one or two times a year I actually use it?

Are you sharing one AppleID or do you have separate IDs?
If you have separate AppleIDs, then it's easiest to create a user account for each of you on the computer, and log into iTunes with your respective IDs on each account.  This will keep everything separate.  There is no problem authorizing content for multiple AppleIDs on the same computer.
HOWEVER, you can only re-download, auto-download, or use Match for one AppleID *per computer* (not per account), and this can only change every 90 days.
If you share an AppleID, then in principle, you can sync both devices to the same user account, but it's difficult to separate contact lists, so it's still easiest to have two user accounts, even if you use the same AppleID on each. This will allow you have separate contact and calendar lists; however, you will NOT have the option of syncing them to the cloud (make sure to turn this option OFF), as having a single AppleID would cause them to merge.

  • I have two Macs: an MBA and the new iMac.  Is there a way to have iTunes and all the content in it identical on both machines?

I have two Macs: an MBA and the new iMac.  Is there a way to have iTunes and all the content in it identical on both machines?

Yes you can copy the content to your new machine and use Home Sharing to keep the content identical
Connect the two machines via an ethernet cable it is 3 times faster than Wifi. Turn wifi off on one machine to enforce ethernet connection
In System Preferences, Sharing turn on File Sharing
    Then
Copy the music/itunes folder from the Macbook pro to the music/ folder on the imac
Both machines should now have the same library
    Disconnect H the ethernet cable
Set up Home Sharing and under Settings at the bottom of the Home Sharing page. Select to transfer new purchases.
Do the same on the other machine.
Then when you r machines are connected by wifi and each time you start itunes it will transfer your new purchases

Is there a way to make itunes autostart with windows in mini mode i.e the taskbar player mode where it is most less obstrusive . itune takes a lot of time to start under windows

Just delete the same songs from your library in iTunes.  Select the first song, hold the shift key, select the last song (which will select everything in between) and press delete.

Drag the folders to the external drive, and if prompted, click Authenticate. You'll probably be asked for an administrator password.

  • Is there a way to back up my iphone 5 without the charging port working?

is there a way to back up my iphone 5 without the charging port working?

In iTunes with the iPhone connected: set Snyc via WiFi.
Then plug the cord in the charger.
In iTunes your iPhone icon is still visible, click it while holding the CTRL key: then choose "backup".

  • Is there a way to have iPhoto add location information to the original file

Is there a way to have iPhoto add manually assigned location information to the original file? After adding location information to about 20,000 of my 35,000 picture library, I generated a new library because of problems with faces. That fixed the faces problem but I was quite disappointed to see that the locations were absent. From what I can see, you can only do this by exporting the files (file - edit) and having the option checked to include the location information. Of course, if you select to have the original files exported (as opposed to creating 35,000 new jpegs), you do not have the option to include location information. Even if you did have that option, it would be a silly way to do it. Am I missing something?

No exporting is the only way - I believe that HoudahGeo - http://www.houdah.com/houdahGeo/ - will add them to the originals in iPhoto - check it out

  • Installed iTunes 7.6 and my CD/DVD Drive disappears

I noticed that since I installed the newest version of iTunes on windows vista my DVD player is no longer present. I realized this through a series of trial and error. Originally I noticed my DVD drive was not responding and could not figure out why. Had HP tech support fix the problem by removing a damaged registry key. But later when I went to iTunes it caused an error in iTunes. When I reinstalled iTunes the DVD drive went missing again. Microsoft Windows SP 1 hasnt fixed this and HP has not fixed this has Apple or anyone fixed this issue yet?

Had the same problem but I've fixed it:
Go to Run. Type in "regedit" and click OK. Now follow this procedure:
    Computer>HKEYLOCALMACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Control>Class>{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE1 0318.
In this folder, you should see a file called UpperFilters. Delete this! Your CD/DVD Drive should show up again! iTunes should continue to work but I've noticed that it doesn't allow me to burn CDs anymore :S

  • Is there a way to have iTunes play the first song in a playlist & then stop

We're using iTunes to play backing tracks in a show. We are using a vpedal through the USB for play and pause. We would like to be able to hit the pedal to play the first track and then have it stop ( NOT automatically play the second track). Then we could just hit the pedal to play each subsequent track. Thanks for your help

Michael - thank you so much for your effort to help me with this question. I have tried what you have suggested and it does exactly what you say it will do but does not solve the issue. Let me explain what needs to happen a little better: The playlist of backing tracks has 4 songs. The Vpedal is a third party programable device that will activate play/pause in iTunes. I will have no access (nor will anyone else) to the computer while I am in character during this part of the performance. I introduce the piece and step on the vpedal and the first song plays. If I don't hit it again, each subsequent track will play automatically - this is bad because applause, etc. makes the time between songs variable. So, currently I have to step on the pedal at the end of song #1 to pause it and then when ready for song #2 step on it again to play. The same process for end of song #2 (pause), start of song #3 (play), end of song #3 (pause) and start of song #4 (play). This works but the problem with it is I must be very precise when to pause - wait a second too late and then next song will begin. So, it would be far preferable if iTunes only needed me to press the pedal to play and the program would pause automatically at the end of each song but be ready to play the next song when I hit the pedal. Hope this makes it clearer.
    Any other thoughts? Again, thanks.
