Is there a way to join tracks/songs that are already in your library?

Like the subject line reads....any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Join Together automates the process of joining the files of selectediTunes tracks together with QuickTime and exporting them as a single AAC Music or Audiobook file/track.

Be sure to download the correct version for your Mac OS: v6.0.3 for Snow Leopard from this page and v5.4 for Tiger/Leopard.

  • Can you delete songs that are already on your ipod?

My Ipod automaticly downloaded all of the songs off of my itunes, and I don't want most of them on there, is there anyway to get rid of them?

There are different ways to delete depending how you have your iPod set to update. If you are updating automatically then delete the files from the iTunes library and next time you connect they will automatically be deleted from your iPod. if you are updating manually, connect your iPod and click on the icon when it shows in the iTunes source list. Find the files on your iPod that you want to remove, highlight them and delete directly. To select multiple items such as all the songs in an album, click on the first track in the list hold down the shift key and click on the last track to highlight the selection. Then press the delete key.
To summarise, you start by highlighting the song/video/selection in either the iTunes library or on the iPod song list as displayed in iTunes then press the delete key on your keyboard: Deleting songs or playlists from your iPod
There is also a couple of ways that do not involved deleting the files permanently from iTunes. The default iPod setting is automatically update with iTunes when connected. You can keep the automatically update setting and select the "Only update checked songs" option in the iPod Preferences.
When unchecking a song in iTunes, it will not be updated to the iPod and if already on the iPod, unchecking the song in iTunes will remove it from the iPod during the next update with iTunes.
Another is to set your iPod to "automatically update selected playlists only" then all you need to do is remove the song from the playlist and update, it remains in your library should you want to add it in future.

  • Is there a way to import CDs into iTunes 11 without importing songs that are already in my library?

Prior versions of iTunes would ask whether I wanted to import duplicate songs when I inserted a CD, but this feature seems to have gone away in iTunes 11.  (Though if this feature does exist and can be enabled, that would be the ideal solution.)  Importing the entire CD and then searching and deleting duplicates is less than optimal, as I have a massive music library and a lot of CDs to import, many with duplicates.  Thanks in advance!

    No. Its not possible.
Alternatively, create another user account in your computer. Install iTunes in that account with the library you wish to sync.

  • Is there a way to drag a new playlist onto my ipod without creating doubles of all of the songs that are already on my ipod?

i just want to put the playlist on my ipod but it re adds all the songs that are already on my ipod. do i just have to recreate the playlists on my ipod?

Playlists are just files with pointers.  If you have a song on multiple playlists that doesn't mean the song is copied twice.  Any instance of a song in playlists just points to the single file it syncs over.
If you have not synced in a while however and the song is already on the phone there is a chance it has been a while and with changes made with each iTunes update or iPhone iOS update, they may have changed the logic of the playlists files or how it manages and organizes the file structure, thus it may be needed to update (resync) some of your files.  That is just an educated guess.
What I mentioned first still applies, songs are only copied once even if on multiple playlists.  Regular syncing helps keep things fresh and up to date and yes at times there are changes to the process that may cause extra sync time to redo some things an updated way.

  • Is there a way to sort by songs that require a password or marked with !

My laptop was wiped clean and I had to fetch all backed up songs from external. Now many songs have ! marks next to them and others require an old user name and password. Is there any way to view these by sorting so I don't just have to stumble upon these messed up files?

  • Is there a way to view only the bands/albums/songs that are already downloaded to my iPhone?

In the artists list, the 'cloud' icon only disappears when all of that artists albums have been downloaded, so that isn't an easy way to tell.  Is there a method to view just the bands/albums/songs that I have downloaded?  Thank you for any assistance that is available.

There is an option in Settings --> Music --> Show All Music.  If it is ON, all your music will show.  If you turn it OFF, it will show only music on your phone.

  • HT201269 my IPOD touch completely died.  I just got a replacement.  Is there a way to put the songs that were on the old one onto the new one?

My IPOD touch completely died.  It will not power up.  I bought a replacement.  Is there a way to transfer the music already purchased onto the new IPOD from Itunes?

Just sync the new iPod with the computer that you used to sync the old iPod.

  • Is there a way to re-download songs that have been deleted without having to pay in full again?, is there a way to re-download songs that have been deleted without having to pay in full again?

I lost all my music from Itunes, most of it I still had on CD's etc but my previously purchased music was erased, is there a way of getting it back without having to buy it again?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Your music should be there.
If for some reason you have failed to backup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases
In the U.S you can redownload past purchases:  Open itunes store, click Purchasd, under Quick Links

  • Is there a way to keep selected apps that you have on your admin account inaccessible and unseen from another admin account on the same Mac?

My sister and I share computers, but it's really her Mac because she got it for her birthday.  I'm using it because there is no other place to hold my iTunes library, documents, photos, etc.
She complains that I make the computer too slow after I downloaded/installed too many apps from the Mac App Store using my admin account and my iTunes account.   However, they show up on her account as well, and she doesn't want to see them or have her computer slow down, so she deletes them.  Is there a way to make certain apps unseen and inaccessible from other admin users on the same machine?

Only by storing them on an encrypted disk image. Anyone who has an administrator password to a Mac can use it to access all unencrypted data on the system.

  • Is there any way to print a list of what is in your Library?

Is there any way to print a list from ipod 60gb video (either from the itunes screen or from my documents)? I'd really like to be able to see what I already have without having my ipod plugged in. Thanks!

Boy I feel stupid! I really thought I'd checked the drop down menus. Oh well. Thanks!

  • Is there a way to search for photographs that are missing?

I have discovered that some shots that I thought had been imported from iphoto are in fact missing (when I go to open them there is a badge with the yield sign and an exclamation point in it)
I don't think this is the end of the world as I have the original files in various places and can import them (I guess)
but is there a way to search to find all the shots that are missing?
right now I'm having to scroll through the whole database in the list format and I have a lot of shots. can't seem to figure out how to do a search for missing shots…

    1. Create a smart album and in the drop down in the top right corner select file status
    2. Check mark the file status box and select 'Offline'
Now you should have all your 'Offline' (Yellow Exclamation and/or Red Slash) files.
    To reconnect..
    1. Select the missing files.
    2. Go to File and scroll to Manage Referenced Files
The dialog box will have one of the photos selected
    3. Select the drive and folder that contains the referenced file and select it
    4. Click 'Reconnect All'
This might not reconnect all of them, but the dialog box will still be open and you can reconnect the ones left.

  • Is there a way to delete certain messages that have already been deleted?

I have some deleted messages that I want permanently deleted. Is there a way to delete individual messages permanently?

If you do not have a backup, it's gone no matter who deletes the messages.
If you have a backup, you can restore from that backup to retrieve the messages.

  • How do I download new versions of tracks that are already in my Library?

I downloaded about a hundred songs from iTunes between last night and this morning. A number of the tracks do not play to the end of the file, cutting off in the middle instead of playing to the end. I tried making an .mp3 copy of several of them, and they all generate a file error in iTunes. Obviously the tracks that I downloaded are corrupted in some way, so they need to be re-downloaded. The problem is that iTunes says they are already downloaded, so it won't let me re-download a new (hopefully clear) copy. Is there any way I can do this without having to pay for the tracks all over again?

What country are you in ? What you can re-download, and where, is listed on this page.
If you are in one of those countries where you can re-download music then delete the entry for them in iTunes (you don't have to delete the actual files, just the 'entries' for them in iTunes) and see if you can then re-download them - I think that if there is an entry for them in iTunes then it doesn't think that they need re-downloading as they are already there. If you are not in a country where you can re-download music for free then you can try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1933

  • Manual update - how do I add album art to songs that are already in ipod?

I recently changed to manual update as the auto update started to take a ridiculously long time to even recognize my 60gb.
I wanted to add album art to an album that was already in my ipod. I updated the songs in itunes, and then dragged them to the ipod when it was listed in itunes.
Itunes said "updating songs" - and I ended up with two copies of each song.
I deleted the duplicates from the ipod, but surely there must be an easier way.
So how does one properly update information on existing songs with manual update?
    60gb video     latest itunes

The easiest way to do this kind of thing probably would be to either make the alterations (album artwork, lyrics, etc.) on your iPod's songs themselves, not the iTunes library songs. (Click on the little arrow to the left of your iPod's name in the Source List of iTunes, so show/hide. Click on the "Music" library under your iPod to see it's songs displayed in iTunes.)
When you've gotten in the "Music" library, under your iPod's name in iTunes, you can select the songs here that you want to change, and click on "Get Info".
    Or, you could do this:
1 - Make the changes to the iTunes Library songs.
2 - Go to your iPod's Music area in iTunes.
3 - Delete the current songs off your iPod that will be replaced with the "modified" version of the track (that has additional or altered info on it.)
4 - Now, go back to the iTunes Library. Select those new changed songs, and drag them to your iPod.

    Hi, edcf.
I have experienced the exact same issue this week for a Pre-order album as well.  I would recommend canceling the Pre-order and download it again as it most likely has not been charged.  This article will walk you though the process.
