Is there a way to limit Facebook use on iPhone and iPad?

I use "Stayfocused" on my Macbook, but it's a Google Chrome extension and Chrome isn't supported for mobile platforms.
Likewise with "Leechblock", a Firefox extension. Good for Macbook, but apparently not supported for iPad/ iPhone.
I can't find any apps in the store that limit Facebook.
Surely there must be something I'm missing? I imagine I'm not the only one searching for something like this. There seem to be dozens of versions of this idea available for desktop computer, but it seems a bit pointless if you can circumvent them by just picking up the phone or iPad. Any tips gratefully appreciated!

Because apps on iOS devices are isolated from one another ("sandboxed") such an app would not be possible.
I recommend "SelfControl". It takes a little while to learn to use but it works on any platform.

  • HT2513 Is there any way to sync between laptop, desktop, iPhone and iPad without using the iCloud?

I want to sync my iCal between all my Apple products but this doesn't seem to be possible?
It all used to sync with MobileMe, but I didn't upgrade, so it stopped syncing.
If I use a 3-rd party calendar, say Google Calendars, in my iCal would that work?
From what I can tell, I can sync from one machine to my iPhone via iTunes, but that's all...
    Thanks, Heather

i cant access my facebook through my iphone and ipad but i can access it through my friend's laptop

Facebook has a feature that requires you to authorise a new device, which could be causing an issue. Check your account settings when you're signed in on the computer, and see if it has anything along the lines of 'App Passwords'

  • Is there a way to use my iPhone and iPad mobile email settings in a macbook air to utilize it as a true mobile device?

My company doesn't support macs, but the mobile mail works great on my iPhone/iPad.  The settings provided by my company enables syncing on my calendar, I can accept appointments, and my mail syncs perfectly and always faster than my DELL laptop wired to my network.
My question is this... I desperately want a macbook air as I travel ALL the time.  Can I use my mobile settings to send/receive/coordinate my calendar just as my iphone does on the macbook air?  I have a macbook pro and have been experimenting with the mail.app, and it can't connect to the mobile server to my company.
If the settings work so well on iphone/ipad, why can't I get them to work with the mail app on OSX?
First off, I'm set up as exchange on my iphone.
I enter my company email address, add my company user name, add my password, enter domain, and type in mobile.xxxxxxxx.com as my server... WORKS perfectly.
On the mail.app on my mac, there's no place to add domain, so I've tried to not add it, and also tried to put my domain behind my company username.  DOMAIN\USERNAME.
Mail can not connect to the server.
    Is a port issue?
I also tried to sync the account using itunes.  I currently have a gmail account, mobileme account, a yahoo account, and my company exchange account.  ONLY the mobileme and gmail account show up in the sync.
How do I solve this?  How can I make it work? Is there a mail client out there which makes OSX look like a mobile device for email/calendar applications???
I tried apple support, and I guess they can't wrap their heads around the fact that some companies still do not support mac.  Support was useless.
    HELP!!

Is there a way that I could use my (first generation) iPhone as a back-up modem for both notebooks?
    No.

  • Numbers for Mac does not show all stored Numbers files in iCloud that are already in use on iPhone and ipad

I have been using Numbers on both iPhone and iPad for a while and have about 8 files stored on iCloud. I have just purchased Numbers for Mac but I do not see any of my files stored in iCloud. I have created a test spreadsheet on my Mac which says it is stored on iCloud when I choose File - Open on my Mac but this test file does not appear on Numbers on iPhone or iPad.

I have tried all what you have suggested but still no luck. I am unable to locate the file Mobile Documents in either the Library folder under Mac HD or Mac HD - System - Library.
If you've set up iCloud properly on the Mac then in your Library there will be a Mobile Documents folder with documents in it:
Everything else syncs absolutley fine such as contacts, mail, notes, pictures etc etc.
Contacts, Mail, etc. sync via another iCloud protocol. For Numbers you need 'Documents & Data' turned on, per the screenshot upthread.
Numbers appears twice under iCloud for some reason though -
Numbers doesn't appear "under iCloud".  Numbers uses iCloud to sync. Not sure what your screenshot is showing. On the Mac your Numbers will be here (in Finder):

  • ICloud Drive - hard to use from iPhone and iPad

    Hi All,
I turned on iCloud Drive on my MacBook Pro and on my iPhone and iPad, but I cannot see all files I have on my MacBook through my iPhone / iPad. I'd like to know how I can have access to all my files ... I cannot see for instance my PDF files. I understand we need to have Numbers, KeyNote and Pages on our iPhone / iPad to open the files we moved to iCloud Drive on my MacBook Pro, and some spreadsheets I am able to open on my PDAs. But what about PDFs?
It seems to be a little frustrating this new iCloud Drive. I am a big fan of Apple, but it seems Drop Box is still much better and useful than iCloud Drive.
Thanks a lot for any help.
    Regards,
    Rogerio

    Hi,
You may print from iOS by using the HP ePrint Home & Biz app.

  • Is there any way to enable rSAP, use the iPhone as a modem, create sms folders, and show the day's calender on the home screen?

    Hi folks
Had iPhone for a while and generally happy, but it seems I still need to keep my old nokia E72 because I cannot seem to use the iPhone as a modem, nor does it support rSAP.
Also, while I like the threaded sms view, I'd also like the option to create sms folders to stash away my banking sms info, all of which comes from different numbers, and filled the sms inbox with hundreds of messages.
Lastly, having the meeting for the day diplayed somewhere on the home screen would be great if there were a way to do it. Yes, I can go into calender easy enough, but unless I develop the habit of checking it all the time, I often forget about a meeting whereas on the old nokia, it was always displayed.
What gives with the lack of flash support? Maybe ol Steve dislikes adobe, but it seems like a serious lack to me. Even the old nokia has some flash support.
Given that, I must say I love the seperate calenders and contacts. It's great to be able to keep home contacts seperate from work ones, but still have them on the same phone. Email is great two - full html support seems like a given but it works really well.

rSAP has largely been supplanted by ABAP, which the iPhone supports. Most modern smartphones, including the iPhone do NOT store any information on the SIM.
SMS inboxes. Not much to say. I've never had a desire to do this. I understand it could be useful, but it's unlikely to change.
As for meetings on the home screen... Wait for iOS 5
Flash: it's not JUST that Steve doesn't like flash. Adobe has failed to produce a workable version of Flash for iOS. Blame has to go to both sides.  I say good riddance to it.

  • HT4528 I currently use Verizon and have a Blackberry with an unlimited data plan. Is there a way I can buy an unlocked iphone and keep my unlimited data plan bypassing Verizon's requirement to get a new plan with a 2 year committment?

Is there a way to purchase a new iPhone and to continue my unlimited data plan without having to sign a new 2 year committment and new plan with Verizon?

You don't buy an unlocked phone. You buy a Verizon iPhone at full retail. I just did this myself last month. I paid full retail for the phone and activated it on my plan. This allowed me to get a new phone before I was eligible to upgrade and keep my unlimited data. I also got a good deal on trading in my iPhone 5.
You can buy the phone through Verizon or through Apple. If you buy it through Apple, I'd suggest that you not have them activated but do that yourself by logging into your account on your computer.
    Best of luck.

  • Is there a way to exchange files between an iPhone and a mac?

    Hi there,
I know the iPhone does not support bluetooth (legally), but is there a way I can share files between the phone and a macbook NOT connected to the internet?
What I need to do is the following: I use the phone for work (bad choice, I know...) and need to be able to access e-mail and send files out. I am going to be away for a couple of weeks (I am based in the UK and going to Italy) and was thinking to use the phone for e-mailing (megabucks!!!) and the macbook to do some work that will need to be subsequently e-mailed, but as the iPhone does not support (legally at least) bluetooth, is there a way to load files onto the phone? I mean, it doesn't sound like rocket science.
I have to say, I am overall very disappointed with the iPhone as a tool to work with. Great for games, etc., but not for work. I am really tempted to toss it in the trash (or at least return it where I got it from).
I hope you can give me some good news here...
Besides as a general observation, I have been spending HOURS scouring the internet trying to find solutions to some basic issues I have with the iPhone... A piece of kit that is as expensive as all that should not be so difficult to use especially if all I am trying to get what would be considered a common feature in all bog standard phones, but that's another story... At least I have the digital compass and I can check stocks and shares to make me feel better...
    Thanks

I guess I'm confused then. DocsToGo and AirShare Pro both allow you to set up an adhoc network (direct wifi-based connection between the laptop and your iPhone, no wifi router/cell data connection required). You can then pass the documents back and forth between the two devices. I prefer DocsToGo, because it also allows you to edit/sync the docs back and forth. Is this not what you want to do? You can also email the document from within DocsToGo on the iPhone if desired.
If you want to upload/download using a service like DropBox (which will also require a data connection, either WiFi or cell-based) DocsToGo can access that cloud-based service.
Note that I'm NOT affiliated with DocsToGo, but I did read the instructions to find out all the stuff it can do

  • Is there any way to send messages to other iPods and iPads?

I have 2 iPads 2 iPods and an iPhone, and in am wondering if there is any way I can message any f these devices so I can talk to my children that are using my ther devices?

you do not need different apple ID's  but you do need different 'received at' address set up in settings
i run several different devices, all under the same ID,and can direct a message or face time to which ever receive at address I want.  Note, devices can have and will respond to multiple receive at addresses.

  • Facebook Home on iPhone and iPad

How can I get it across to Apple that the moment they let Facebook Home take over the home page on my iPhone or iPad I am gone forever and will never EVER buy an iPhone or iPod ever again?
Facebook want to know far too much detail about my life as it is.  Why would I want them to be able to track my every movement and know who I am calling on my iPhone.
This is an infingement on my/your privacy.  If news paper journalists can get done for hacking into yours or my phone, what will Facebook get?  And what will Apple get if they are found to be helping Facebook gather this information without the iPhone users consent??????

Thanks for the Link Chris and info Johnathan.  I just sent them a long message.  I hope it gets through.  This Facebook Home is definately something we don't want. It's a total infringement on our privacy. Facebook will not only know where you are at all times, but who you are talking to on your mobile phone as well.  Even the NSA or MI5 have to get permission to do that. Facebook will have total access and will sell any information gained to any third party wanting to target us with adverts or worse.
I'm not happy about that at all.

  • Is there a way to shoot video on one iPhone and watch on another iPhone whilst shooting?

I'd like to shoot something with an iPhone set up on a tripod but then operate and view what I'm shooting from another iPhone. Is that possible?

    Hi HAslowex,
Viewing on one iPhone what you are shooting on the camera of another is exactly what Apple's FaceTime application is intended to do. See this page for an overview -
    Apple - iOS 8 - FaceTime
More detailed information is here -
FaceTime at a glance - iPhone
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Is there a way to file share between an iMac and iPad?

I'm curious as to whether or not you can file share between an iPad and an iMac.  The main reason would be in case my wife or I were working on something on the iMac downstairs, we could "pull it up" on the iPad upstairs without having to sync it with the cable....or perhaps I'm just lazy...

    check out FileBrowser.
    another option may be Dropbox.

  • Why can't I use my Mac Book pro for cashing checks like every one else uses their iPhone and iPad? I am a grandmother and in the past 4 years I have purchased 4 MacBook Pros and 1 iPad for my children and grand children.

I would like to be able to use my MaBook Pro for cashing checks lie the I phone and I pad. Why isn't this feature included?

This has nothing to do with Apple.  As BobTheFisherman indicated, your bank needs to create an App for the Mac to do this.  These types of applications tend to be limited to mobile devices as they are a bit easier to maneuver for taking photos.
