We got bit pretty hard by the IOS 6.1/exchange 2010 thing but would like to keep Idevices around.
Trying to find options to protect againts IOS updates until the IT staff can test the new version throughly.
Is there a way to lock a device down to a specific IOS version where the user will not get update messages?
I have been checking out MDM companies and all they can do is label a non approved ios version device 'non-compliant' and kick it off the network if its not the correct IOS version.
I can straight block the new OS version from the server, but in the user base someone would accidentially update and then they are locked out.
Is anyone else dealing with the same issues?

You can restrict safari, which won't turn off Internet access, but will prevent browsing through safari. Note: without additional restrictions, other browsers could be installed from the app store if users have the apple ID password.
On the ipad itself, go to settings\general\restrictions and set safari to off.
You may also want to restrict 'installing apps' here to prevent the user from installing additional browsers.
These can also be configured via MDM if you need to do this on a lot of devices.

Unless the app has some sort of passcode written into it, no, you can't lock it. You can't lock folders.
If you don't want someone using your Facebook app, you can log out of it.

It sounds like you have a hacked/unofficially unlocked iphone. When you update, it will indeed lock it back, as it should.
The ONLY place that can legitimately unlock an iphone is the carrier to which they are locked and no U.S. carrier does this.

You can print because it's your document. Others shouldn't be able to. But then it's easy enough to unlock them altogether.
Easiest is to get encryption software and just encrypt the document. Or create a small encrypted disc image with Disk Utility and store the document in the disc image.

This time I disagree, you can't re-download music recorded in iTunes from a CD unless you buy more capacity in the cloud. If you turn OFF multi-taskng, your toddler won't be able to "swipe" between Apps.
I don't know of any way to disable the "Home" button though.

Hey! I just got the 5D Mark III, and after that I got the 70-200 f2.8 IS II
Lens is so good im thinking ill just stick that permanent on the 5D3. But I have a serious problem with the button that releases the lens, I keep hitting it without trying when I remove the camera from camerabag, etc. So the lens falls of. So every time I now have to check if the lens is on properly when I retrieve my camera. I dont know how this happens so easily, I never had that problems with my 350D, 40D or 5D mark II.
Is there a way to lock this button, does anyone have a smart physical block idea to it. Must be something I later can unblock if I want to change lenses.

Something is not right here. Accidentally depressing the lens release button does not cause the lens to 'fall off'. When de-mounting a lens, there's at least 50º of axial rotation after lock release, with the first 40º offering a degree of stiffness. Removing a lens does involve some degree of deliberate action.

Their currently isent a way to disable the buttons but what you can do is click the home button during a call after pressing loud speaker and that will separate you from the call options and take you to the home screen and on the top it will have say call active and you can click that to renter the call note the call will still be active but when you hold it next to your face the screen should temporally go dark. No, downgrading from any version of iOS to an earlier version is not supported.

I just made several recordings (FMR) and would like to slow them down for the viewer. The video was actually of someone else's software demo that moved way too fast. On the Captivate skin there is "2x" to move the video twice as fast, but no "1/2x". Is there another way to slow down the video?
