Zoom will enlarge anything on the screen, simply double tap with three fingers.
To turn Zoom on/off go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom.
Large text may also work for you.
Settings > General > Accessibility > Large text.  Select the font size that works best for you.
Printing or accessing text messages via the computer is not support.  Google it and you will find options.
You can also copy and past the content into an email to send to yourself.  Then that email could be printed out.

    Hello hbell,
is there any reason that you do not want
to upgrade to v10.5.? Suggest you call
    1-800-275-2273 Apple Support. Automated call
yet if you call back you can get in touch with an
Apple Software Specialist. They may be able to ship
you Leopard so that you can synch your new iPhone
to you own computer. Have the serial numbers of your
Mac and iPhone written down and ready for them.
As far as transferring data to your husbands MacBook
so that you can sync your iPhone on it I am really not
sure. Seems like a lot of trouble to get your data onto
    your iPhone.
    Good Luck,
    A

  • My work laptop was re-imaged and they didn't save my bookmarks. Does Firefox store them somewhere off my computer so I can get them back from there?

Lost my bookmarks when my work computer was re-imaged due to a virus. In my profiles directory I don't see anything older than the date my system was re-imaged (4/1/11) so I don't think I can restore them from anything on my computer. I'm hoping that Firefox may have them backed up somewhere off my computer so I can restore them from there. Does anyone know if this can be done? Thanks!

Firefox makes bookmark backups to C:\Documents and Settings\{Username}\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(random name).default\bookmarkbackups in JSON format. If it's in there, you can restore it: [[Backing up and restoring bookmarks]]
It's a good idea to backup manually occasionally though for just such an event as this. You can export them to a single HTML file which you can keep on a USB stick and then re-import them if the need arises.

  • For the life of me, I can't find out what size a photo is in terms of inches or how to change the size of the photo[s] so I can print them. I think I read somewhere to click edit, then click adjust. Nothing there about sizing.

For the life of me, I can't find out what size a photo is in terms of inches or how to change the size of the photo[s] so I can print them. I think I read somewhere to click edit, then click adjust. I don't see anything about re-sizing when I click the adjust tab: only saturation and tint levels. Thank you.

With respect to digital images, there really is no size in inches. The size is given as number of pixels horizontally and vertically. In iPhoto '09 you click the little "i" inthe lower right side of the window and it will display information related to the selected photo, including the pixel dimensions. I do not have iPhoto '11 installed so I don't know if it is the same there.
In some applications, such as preview, it has something additional called Dots per Inch (DPI) which you would think would allow you to convert the pixel dimensions to inches. It is not a real thing, though. The DPI is determined by how large or small you have chosen to print your photo and the capabilities of your printer.
There is also something called Aspect Ratio, which is usually expressed in inches x inches such as 6x9 but that doesn't mean the size on the screen or when printed is 6x9.  It is the ratio of the pixel dimensions.  When cropping your photos, you will have several standard aspect ratios to choose from plus any custom ones you create.
In iPhoto '09, after you choose Print, in the Print Setting window are the settings for the size you want the photo printed. You want to shoose a setting with the same aspect ratio of your photo. Otherwise, iPhoto will resize and/or crop your photo to fit the size you have chosen.

  • Best way to make view lots of text?

So I have this book that I want to convert into an app, with images and interactive elements.
What is the best way to get the text from the text file into Sienna. For example, I could use a Text gallery to show the different pages. How do I import the text into the text gallery? Do I manually have to split the text up into different sections? Or
is there some kind of flow control?
Also, while it will be mostly text, I want to ocassionally add pictures, so is the Text Gallery the right one to use?
I would probably use one Text Gallery for each chapter and have a menu system.
If I could get the text for my interactive book directly from Word Online that would be even better then I could edit it with that.
    \^_^/

    Hi zeroanimator,
For pages you have multiple options and it depends on the differences in layout between pages.
You could use one screen per page. This will give you the ability to have every page look totally different from each other (e.g. one page has 4 images and a video, next page is only text).
You could use a Gallery but the layout will need to be similar across the pages. Advantage is that you can dump all the content in a table (e.g. Excel) and let the Gallery render if for you.
For the menu system, a Gallery as you suggested seems the right choice. If you choose option 1 above, you will need to replicate this gallery on every screens.

  • Can't receive text messages from other iphone users but can receive them from non-iphone users

I had to recently reinstall mavericks to my MacBook and suddenly I haven't been able to receive text messages from iphone users on my iphone.  I can send them but not receive them.  Recently I was able to receive a text from an iphone user who turned off his imessages before he texted me.  That came through. Of course, this would be difficult to ask every iphone user i know to turn off imessages in order text me.  I've also tried to turn off my imessage on my macbook, iphone and ipad and still can't receive them.  Lastly, I've also tried resetting my networking settings and that didn't help either.  Any suggestions???

I am having the same problem minus the fact that I don't have a Mac computer I just can't receive any messages from iPhone users and I can't turn my iMessage back on at all it keeps just turning it off every time I try to turn it on. any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Is there any way to make thumbnails bigger in Camera Raw?

When I open raw files in Camera Raw the thumbnails are absolutely tiny - about 9 thumbnails across my screen - ie. too small to see properly if they are good to open. I've googled and searched, and I don't think there is any way to change the size, but just thought I'd check on here.

    SophieCarrPhoto wrote:
I can now see how you I can change the thumbnail size in the Organizer, and then open them in ACR from there, so that's helpful, but I still have to import the images, don't I?
Yes, that's how Elements and Lightroom, and Aperture, and many other database management systems do work. You do not 'import' files, I would rather say that you 'register' files in a database (catalog).
Imagine you are in charge of a paintings museum and you want to edit a catalog for visitors. When you get new masterpieces, you enter all the details : painter, date, canvas size, biography elements and the room in which it is displayed. For easier  search, you include a small reproduction of the painting in the booklet you give the visitors. That's it.
    - You might think it's more work ? The downloader makes this 'registration' for you.
    - Is it slower ? No, since the files are not duplicated, 'registering' = 'getting photos and videos' from 'files or folders' or from 'camera or card reader' only means reading the files header. Very quick for tens of thousands of images. You can tell the downloader to download everything in your 'Pictures' master folder or be more selective.
    - If you are going to add keywords, captions, ratings, if you want to keep track of originals and derivatives in version sets, no other folder based system can compete in power and speed for retrieval and grouping.
    - You don't need to 'register' all your photos. You can do so only for a given project, such as a travel session : slideshow, web extracts, printed book...
    - The organizer helps you for backups, which is very important.
    - If you are concerned about keeping your own folder tree, do it from the organizer 'Folder' view. It offers the same tools and look as the explorer / finder, but it keeps the database updated of all the changes you are doing in the structure : moving, deleting or renaming.

  • Itunes has changed the way it stores files over the years and now i am having trouble figuring out which files are where so I can back them up

    Hi
I have backed up itunes by copying my itunes file to an external hard drive. I try to keep my large media files (like TV shows) in a separate folder so that I can keep my hard drive on my macbook from filling up.  Problem is, apple has changed the way Itunes is organized and backs up over the years.  Now I am having a hard time keeping straight what is where.  When I go to support, it has different instructions for the various versions of itunes. I  am using version 10 now but it seems like I can't see all my files within the itunes music or media folder.  I want to get everything in one place so that I can easily back up, regardless of which version of itunes I am running at the time.
I have selected to let itunes organize my files.  It keeps all the files I have purchased in one place apparently, but items I have imported don't seem to always be there.
How can I best sort this out?

I have, but if I don't have that particular external hard drive connected when my time machine backup hard drive is connected, then I don't think it is all backed up together.  It is getting too complicated to get out all this equipment every time I want to buy some music.

  • I keep having problems when I'm purchasing personalized books on iPhoto. A few days after ordering, I get an email saying there was an error when I ordered. I've checked and I've updated all the software on my computer. What can I do?

How do I contact Apple support or someone that can solve my problem?

Let me also copy and repeat -- since the developers' club apparently has chosen to not give it any weight or credibility -- a comment by a completely different user, in a different thread:
"I am using the 64-bit nightly, and it is FAR faster than any release in 32-bit, and I have 2GB of ram. Usually the addon compatibility thing takes minutes, when with the nightly 64-bit, I was done in a matter of seconds. also, I notice that it is faster, pages load faster, there is less lag, and it all around seems better than 32-bit in every aspect, even though it is just automatically compiled and not tweaked."
So, the developer's club position remains, "there really isn't much need for a 64-bit version", despite comments like that. Hmmm . . .
Are you SURE you want to stand directly behind that answer, while people shoot at it?

  • I cannot send some people a text from Messenger on my iPad but CAN send them from my iPhone

I don't understand why I can send a person a text message from my iPhone but when I try to send the same message to the same person from my iPad, it tells me it cannot send as the person isn't registered.  What does this mean.  Yet I can send messages to others on both the iPhone and my iPad.  Can you tell me what's going on?  Thanks

The iPad uses iMessage to send messages. iMessages can only be sent to iDevices like the iPhone, iPod and iPad. Apple products such as the iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, etc running Mac OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion and later can also send/receive iMessages.
    Hope this helps,
    Ryan

  • I'm brand new to Macs and Air. How do you make the onscreen text bigger overall. The print is super small?

I am going blind trying to see the tiny text on this laptop. I'm sure there is a way to make it bigger overall.  Also need bigger text (to see as I type) on e-mails? What do I do?

    Overall ?
    Try a different resolution
Open System Preferences > Displays > Display > Scaled
For Mail. With Mail open, from the menu bar, click Mail > Preferences then select Fonts & Colors tab.
Click Select to change the font and font size.

''Is there a way to make the "Find" feature case insensitive?''
    Find ("Ctrl+F")
:uncheck "Match case" on the Find bar
An extension that enhances the Find bar for something they have not added is

And if you want a serious fixup for Find see/vote [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171237 Bug 171237] even though it still misses the point, it should be "exactly" like Opera.

  • Contacts:  any way to make letters on the right bigger?

I have large fingers.  I'm sure I'm not alone in this issue:
When looking at Contacts on iPhone (5s), the alphabetized lettering on the right side is REALLY small.  When I try to tap on a letter to jump to, 9 times out of 10 I open the contact on the LEFT that is nearest the one I'm trying to tap on the right.  Frustrating.
Hence, is there any setting to make those alphabetized letters LARGER?
    thanks

Unfortunately, no there isn't. You could always let Apple know you would like to see that by going to http://www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link.
