Is there a way to mimic Photoshop Levels adjustment feature in Lightroom?

I've found that pretty much every photo looks better if I start by editing it externally in Photoshop using the Image>Adjustments>Auto Levels feature then brining it back into Lightroom to tweak color temperature, exposure, clarity, etc. I call it the "Claritan Effect" after the Claritan TV commercials that start out looking normal but then they peel back a film on the camera to reveal brighter colors and contrast.  You can see it in the samples where nothing has been changed in the 2nd photo except to run Auto Levels in Photoshop.
Is there a way to replicate this in Lightroom?  It's the only reason I take most photos into Photoshop so it would save a lot of transfer time if I could do this editing in Lightroom.

function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

Or, you can use the auto feature in the tone section of the Basic panel.  You can save this as a preset and then automatically apply it during import.  I never use auto features myself, but I tried it on your original and it gave different results than photoshop auto-levels (I liked it better) but it may not meet your criteria.
You can also experiment with the outside sliders in the tone curve or with the clarity slider and save to a preset, if that works better for you.
However, I have not found a one-size-fits-all solution, and with a little practise, and the use of autosync in the develop module, you can make customized adjustments very rapidly in LR.

  • In PSE9 is there a way to enlarge the levels adjustment panel and effects panel for viewing?

In PSE9 is there a way to enlarge the levels adjustment panel for viewing?  The histogram is so small.
I know we can use the arrow keys to change the settings for the histogram, but it is just the overall view of it I would like to see bigger.
I think with PSE8 the effects panel could be dragged out of the panel bin and made longer AND wider, but in PSE9 it can only be made longer when dragged outside the panel bin.
And I think the whole panel bin could be dragged wider or narrower.

not really apart from changing the resolution, but theres a a couple of things you can do
you can change the "minimum font size" in Safari (and other apps) in the General tab - this will enlarge any fonts to the minimum size you specify if they are under that size
the features in the accessiblilty section of system preferences might be worth a look as well
the pinch zoom feature is also useful
unfortunately there isn't a 1-button setting somewhere that can do this, because apps, documents, web pages, images etc all work independently from each other, they use different font types, different zoom levels, etc. You can't just enlarge them all in sync without content getting jumbled up/distorted. if enlarge an app/page/document and get it looking good, on the next one you would probably need to zoom in at a different level for it to look right

  • Is there a way to view frequency levels in Hz on Adobe Audition 3.0 during voice recordings?

Is there a way to view frequency levels in Hz on Adobe Audition 3.0 during voice recordings so I can ensure the recordings are hitting the specific frequency range I desire?

The frequency analyser pane can run in real time and show you this, but with a voice, there's no way you can alter the effective range anyway - it's almost entirely dependent on the voice you are recording, and they all fall pretty much into the same bands - depending on whether you're male or female.

  • Is there any way to get volume level of  netStream?

    Hello,
I want to get the activity level of audio of a NetStream, similar to how you can do it with a Microphone.
    In this article,
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1442913/as3-audio-activity-level-of-a-netstream
NetStreamInfo.audioBytesPerSecond is said to be the solution.
However, audioBytesPerSecond indicates how many data volume the stream have.
It does not get volume level of the stream.
It is not the same as microphone.activityLevel.
Is there any way to get volume level of netStream?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much for your answer.
    I will use audioBytesPerSecond.
I've tried SoundMixer class also, but it seems not working on streaming movies.

  • Is there any way to turn off the ical feature whereby someone emails you a meeting date/time and it automatically goes on your iCal?

Is there any way to turn off the iCal feature whereby when someone emails you a meeting date/time and it automatically appears on your calendar?  Once there they can't even be edited or deleted.

    Greetings,
What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
You should be able to delete events in iCal as long as they are not from a "Subscription" calendar.  Subscriptions show up on the left hand side of iCal under the "Subscription" category if you have any.
You can tell iCal to not check your mail program for invites by going and unchecking the box found in iCal > Preferences > Advanced > "Automatically retrieve..."
    Hope that helps!

  • Is there a way to integrate Photoshop CS3 and Aperture?

Ok, here is what I want to do. I use Aperture to organize and store my RAW pictures (as well as my edited photos, I use stacks), but I like to use Adobe Camera RAW to edit my RAW photos. I want to take my RAW photo, edit it in Adobe Camera RAW, export that RAW image back to Aperture for storage so I can create a JPEG or whatever for other editing in Photoshop. Is there a way to keep a file in RAW format between the 2 applications?

I'm not sure if this will help, but I use Aperture 2.1 and CS3. I am coming from a many year user of LR and find the "round trip to CS3" much cleaner in AP. Remember you are not actually working on the RAW file in AP or LR - the RAW image is always maintained. I will do my sorting and editing in AP up to the point I need CS3 - which is becoming less and less with the new plugins and the basic power of AP. I will highlight the image, go to edit with and call up CS3. I will then go through whatever is necessary in CS3 then Save the work - NOT Save As! The image, layers, masks, etc. will be preserved and the re-worked image will appear in AP alongside the original AP image. If needed later, I double click on the CS3 image (it has a little "marker" next to the image for identification) and I am back in CS3 complete with all the CS3 work and I can pick up where I left off. In this way I can continue to PS the image as I wish without losing the past work -- Hit Save again and the reworked image will go right back into AP. The RAW image remains in its original form. If the issue is saving the PS work into the source file, you can Save AS in PS and point the image into the file. The only problem here is all the layers, etc. are flattened so you lose the ability to return to "where you left off." The only alternative I see is to use PS exclusively and Save the work pointing back to the original file. Making the point again, regardless of AP or LR's use, the program(s) are non-destructive and preserve the original RAW image. For me, the "round trip" in AP is much smoother than in LR.

  • Is there a way to open photoshop cs6 in 32-bit mode on a windows 7 64-bit system.

I was wondering if there is a way to open photoshop cs6 in 32-bit mode on a windows 7 64-bit system, because photoshop won't recognize the pen pressure on my graphics tablet (yiynova msp19u) I read that some users got it to work in 32-bit mode on macs, and all my other programs like zBrush, art rage, sketch book pro recognize the pen pressure on the tablet.

well I am going to assume that the application marked photoshop is the 32-bit application, since the other on is marked 64-bit and I don't see one 32-bit. in any case it still not recognizing pen pressure and i have the newest drivers. The only thing I can think of now is that wacom drivers are interfering with it some how since they don't get along, although I was pretty sure i got rid of all wacom software.
Sigh, it's starting to look like I have to format my computer

  • Is there a way to use Photoshop's brush in Flash ?

Hello. I've always said that drawing with my Bamboo Create & Touch was good but wasn't the same as drawing in the real life. In fact, this brings me a lot of problems, because even if it's good, is not good enough for me. That happens to me when i use Flash, but when i use Photoshop, it's much better ! It's almost like real life. Isn't there a way to, export the Photoshop's brush tool information/setting/preference (something like those things) into Flash ?

No. But you can create graphics completely in Photoshop and import them into Flash. You can also very easily right-click on a bitmap in your library and "Edit with Photoshop". Whatever you do, if you save it, will auto-update in Flash.
Flash is not designed for creating elaborate bitmap graphics. It's better at vector but for either of those you really should just use the tool that's designed for it. Flash is typically what is used to take finished media and assemble it into an animation or application.

  • Is there a way to use Photoshop's field blur, iris blur or tilt shift blur straight on AE?

I want to use photoshop's selective blur effects on several footage. I know I might import the footage on Photoshop and just apply the effect on the video sequence, but this workflow is rather incomfortable for a whole bunch of clips.
Is there a way to use either those filters or reproduce their behavior straight on AE?

You can pretty much recreate all of them using effects like Compound Blur or Camera lens Blur wit ha custom matte and you can expand this further by getting a plug-in suite like REvisionFX' SmoothKit where you have even more sophisticated adaptive blurs.

I received a copy of Photoshop Elements 5 (2006) and have a Dell Windows 7. I installed and registered my name to the software, but am aware that the program is compatible with Windows Vista or XP. Is there a way to make it compatible to my computer and/or update/upgrade to a more recent version? If there is no way to make the program work for my computer, is there a way to un-register my name from it?
Thank you for any help at all!

Do you get any problems when trying to run the software on Windows 7?  If yes, try to run it under Windows XP or Vista Compatibility Mode.

  • Is there a way to add breakdown levels?

    Dear all
Is there a way that for a spot color I can also define breakdown levels? If I have the Lab values for 100%, 75%,50%,25% and I want Ilustrator  to use this breakdown colors for interpolation.
Its like perdefine what a 50% tint of a spot color looks like.
    best regards

No. That's not what I want.
To use your example. this newSpotColor is 50% tint of newSpot. Illustrator will calculate what the color looks like. But I want to tell Illustrator what this 50% tint color looks like. I have the exact Lab value of what the color should look like at 50% tint and want Illustrator to use this value for internal tint interpolation calculation. So that if a user selects a 50% tint in the UI he does get a color based on my previously inserted Lab value.

  • Is there any way to turn off the Resume feature?

I often just quit an App with lots of windows open. Lots of web pages, or lots of documents.
I really don't want them to all open back up when I restart the app.
Sometimes I quit with a password protected file open and the app comes up asking me to enter the password even though I don't want to open the doc. Sometimes I have to wait while all these webpages open up.
So, now I must option close windows when I quit an app - which is an annoying step and I sometimes forget it.
While this is a fine feature for iOS because you only have one page/doc visible at a time, it ***** for the way I use my Mac.
Is there some way I can turn this feature off?

Just found this... Sorry to waste the post...

  • Is there a way for rollover hotspots to adjust on an image that scales to fit browser?

    Hi,
This is my website currently: paddyohara.co.uk
The main rollover image on my homepage is currently a fixed size, but when I set the image to expand to fit the browser, the rollover hotspots moved out of position on large screen resolutions. Is there any way to get the rollover hotspots to size up relative to the image sizing up?
I hope this makes sense, any help much appreciated

You could try something like this (I have not because I so rarely use hotspots) -

  • Is there a way for InDesign & Photoshop to run on my website?

I have a small personal business that publishes sports programs for high schools. However, since there are only so many hours in a day, all I can manage to do with the help of another artist is about 5-6 school's programs per season. I was wondering if there is a way to set up page templates that potential customers could use to design their own books on or through my website as a paid service? I would need to have step by step instructions for doing things like converting RGB photos to CMYK in photoshop, dropping those photos into picture boxes and doing simple typesetting in InDesign. Just need to know if something like this is even possible.

In all probability, anyone skilled enough to do the photo manipulation could use a downloaded InDesign template in their own copy of ID (but you'd possibly need to have several versions of the template for differnt versions of ID). If you want Adobe applications to actually run on the website you'd need to have server licensing, about which I know very little -- I'm not even sure there is a server edition for Photoshop -- other than it's bloody expensive.

  • Is there a way to install Photoshop without all the crap?

I noticed when installing the Adobe Photoshop CS6 trial, even if you check only the bare minimum number of checkboxes, it will still install tons of...crap.
e.g. Bridge, Camera Raw, Camera Raw Profile, Dynamic Link Media Server (seriously, does this sound like something anyone would want installed on their computer?), Extend Script Toolkit, Switchboard, etc.
Is there anyway to uninstall all that stuff?

Whoa man, calm down; relax. Why is this a most unfortunate first post? It's a serious and legitmate question. You're taking it as if I asked it to offend people.
I do use Photoshop for purposes that Illustrator might be better suited for, but that's my decision; and anyways, I'm more familiar with Photoshop.
The reason I dislike these certain parts is because I don't like having uncessary stuff installed on my computer, and I certainly don't want unecessary stuff running at start-up
...Which is exactly why I did infact disable those start-up entries and manually delete the stuff mentioned — namely, Bridge, Dynamic Link Media Server, etc. — from "Program Files" etc. And no, I did not break Photoshop or anything else (if it does break, you will be the first to know); so yes, I know perfectly well what I'm doing. I don't see how you managed to assume otherwise based off my first post.
So I asked this question in the first place because I was genuinely wondering if there was a more official way to remove that stuff (as opposed to manually deleting them). Obviously now I know there isn't, but would it have been so terrible if there was? It wouldn't hurt anyone (certainly not you), but people who didn't want something called "Dynamic Link Media Server" installed on their computer would only benefit. Obviously that's not happening anytime soon, but hey, if I knew that, I wouldn't have asked in the first place.
Thank you for your insightful and not-at-all-condescending response.
