Is there a way to move garageband content to another drive/location?

Hi, I have the latest version of Garageband and Mainstage on my Mac Pro.I use a 60gb SSD as my boot drive for performance, and have a second HDD for data.
Is there a way to move all the large content i.e. Loops, instruments, video tutorials etc to my second HDD but keep the main Garageband/ Mainstage apps on my SSD bootdrive?
I want to try and avoid using up too much space on my SSD and from what i can find online, it seems its possible to do this on the earlier versions of garageband.
Thanks

the loops are fairly easy to move (moving the instruments and other system files is not reccomended):

That's something I just did successfully one hour ago...
I suppose your are in the 'folder' view with full folder tree, not in the 'My folder' view which only shows the lower subfolder level recorded in the database.
Do you try to move a folder with its subfolders ?

  • How do I move itunes content to another drive?

When I installed iTunes a while ago I accepted the defaults for file and contrent location, which is all on the C: drive. Now I need to make a bit of room on the drive, and I figured I move everything to the D: drive, which has enough free space (250 GB or so). I followed the Apple instructions (iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder - Apple Support), which for some reason end with iTunes10 (I am using iTunes 12 now), but that seems to not have worked. After following everything to the letter, I end up with just an empty folder ("Automatically add to iTunes"), and a 1 kb "plist" file in the new location.
I simply want to to move all the content from drive C: to Drive D:. How do I do that?

  • Is there a way to import a class from another drive?

I need to access a DB class that is sitting on another machine. Any help would be appreciated greatly. thanks.

To use a class, it needs to be in your classpath. So either map a drive to the directory where the class is and put that drive in your classpath, or make a local copy of the class.

  • IIS 8.5 - What's Best Way to Move INETPUB directory to Another Drive?

Does anyone have step by step process moving IIS 8.5 INETPUB directory to Another Drive? Running Windows Server 2012 R2.
    Thanks.

Moving that folder is very straight forward. Unlike some folders relating to windows services, the standard inetpub folder is simply the default location that sites run from, it doesn't define where new sites go when you set them up.
So, simply create your new inetpub folder on the required drive, and give it the same permissions as the standard one as a baseline. When you setup new sites you're asked to enter the path that the site will be found, at which point you simply point to the
site to the relevant folder on your chosen drive.
If you already have sites configured in IIS, simply copy the data over to the new destination, configure the permissions to the same as the source folder, and then in IIS select each site on by one, on the right hand pane click on Basic Settings... and then
edit the Physical path to where the new folder is. Once you've done that the site will be using the new folder. You can then removed the old folder, though personally I'd wait until you've had chance to fully test it and ensure everything is working as it
should be (eg you haven't missed any permissions).

  • My Computer Is Dying - Is There A Way To Move My Library To A New Computer

I'm having a serious problem with - I think - one of the video drivers on my PC. I can't seem to fix or replace the driver, and the resulting graphics problems make it impossible for me to access my library. Is there any way to move my library to another computer without having direct access to the library itself?

Yes, if you are using the default itunes settings, you need to move your entire itunes folder. On XP it is this path
    C:\Documents and Settings\ username \My Documents\My Music\iTunes
The database for the itunes library ITL file is in that folder, along with all your music files.

  • Is there a way to list the contents of a particular directory?

    Hi,
I'm creating the blue-print of a new iPad app and was wondering if there was a way to request the contents of a particular directory (eithre local to the device or a a particular directory on the web) and also get the "type" of each item.
For example if inside a directory "Directory1" and inside that directory I have 4 files and another directory, (file1.gif, file2.txt, file3.mov, file4.mp3, Directory2)
Is there a way to request the contents of Directory1 and the type of files they are?
The ideal thing will be to get a recursive request and get an array of contents of all directories inside a particular directory.
    something like:
    Directory1[file1a.gif,file1b.txt,file1c.mov,file1d.mp3,[Directory2[file2b.mov,fi le2b.mp3]]]
What I want is to create a navigation for the user based on the resultant strign.
Am I re-inventing the wheel here?
Any direction will be greatly appreciated. I rather adjust blue-print now based on what is possible.
    Thanks!

Is there a way to move my calendar, reminders & iMessage apps from the dock to the menu bar?

Workspaces are stored as XML files in your user profile on Windows or the user library on Mac, in a subfolder called, strangely enough, workspaces.
You may have run afoul of the new "content grabber" in the center of a frame that allows you to move the content without changing tools. Looks sort of like a dounut, or the center spot on some SLR camera focus viewfinders. You'll either love it or hate it, and it can be switched on or off in the View menu.

I work on dual screens on a new mac pro but when I do the 4 finger swipe it moves both screens, is there a way to move just the screen that is active?

Multiple desktops and dual screens really aren't meant to work together. Apple came up with this multiple desltops feature and never really thought about users that use a dual monitor setup. So use either multiple desktops OR dual monitors but not both. Also don't try to use any App in Full Screen Mode as that doesn't work with dual screen setups either.

    No.
One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
Create separate computer logins for each of you.
This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library).

Is there a way to move music from my Iphoe 3GS to the Itunes on my Windows 7 laptop? The hard drive of the laptop had been corrupted so it was replaced which makes the computer now register as being a new one alltogether.

If you still have the old drive you (or a helpful friend) may be able put it in an external drive bay and extract your iTunes library and other personal data from it. Otherwise see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • Is there a way to move files from one folder to another without copying and pasting and then going back to delete the original?

Is there a way to move files from one folder to another without copying and pasting and then going back to delete the original?  The cut and paste function is not available and there's no "move to" function.  Am I missing something?  It was so easy with Windows.

Drag the files, or press Option when pasting them; this accesses the Move To function.

    Hello KM47,
It soundsl ike you are needing to copy your iTunes purchases to your computer rather than sync it at this point. You can use the following article to transfer your purchases with the following article:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848
If you have your library stored on another computer, you can also copy the library to the new MacBook Air with this article:

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
