Is there a way to move my library from old ipod to new ipod if i do not have my old hard drive
I have an issue on my old ipod with the sound coming through headphones...after troubleshooting found something is wrong with my old ipod (from like 2006) and i just bought a brand new one and want to be able to move my songs from my old ipod to my new one in windows platform environment. The issue is I don't have my original hard drive with the Itunes library on it on which I originally purchased my songs. Is there a way at all to download my songs from my old ipod to my new computer's hard drive and then move them from that hard drive to the new ipod? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am a novice at this so please be user friendly and not a lot of computer jargon please if possible...if you can outline steps that would be great.
Michelle
Hello goldymich
You can only transfer items that you have purchased from the iTunes Store. The article below will give the steps on how to do that.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I just got a Macbook Pro and all of my music is on my old PC. We bought the Mac so I could take it to college. I was thinking about making a new Apple ID because all the devices in my house (My mom's stuff and my sister's stuff) all use the same ID so that we could Facetime once I was gone.
Is the process the same for moving the library as it would be for 2 computers with the same Apple ID?Is the process the same for moving the library as it would be for 2 computers with the same Apple ID?
If you're using home sharing for the move, yes. I'd be inclined to use the Apple ID of the iTunes Store account on the PC you're moving stuff from as the Apple ID to set up the Home Share on each computer. (You're going to need to have the new Mac authorised to the account you used to make purchases on the old PC to play any purchased items with DRM on them from the old PC, anyway.) -

My Computer Is Dying - Is There A Way To Move My Library To A New Computer
I'm having a serious problem with - I think - one of the video drivers on my PC. I can't seem to fix or replace the driver, and the resulting graphics problems make it impossible for me to access my library. Is there any way to move my library to another computer without having direct access to the library itself?
Yes, if you are using the default itunes settings, you need to move your entire itunes folder. On XP it is this path
C:\Documents and Settings\ username \My Documents\My Music\iTunes
The database for the itunes library ITL file is in that folder, along with all your music files. -
My wife and I have shared one iTunes account for 6 years. We want to create our own Apple IDs, so when we sync to our new iMac we won't see each others contacts, photos, calendar, music, etc. Is there a way to move music/apps from one ID to a new ID?

No.
One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
Create separate computer logins for each of you.
This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library). -

My laptop was stolen and i have a new one, is there any way to move all the picture folders to the new computer and not lose them? They stole my external harddrive too so unfortunately if i lose these, i have no way to get them back?
What randers4 said. HOWEVER, if the photos were taken with a higher resolution camera than the iPhone what you recover will not be as high a resolution as the originals.

i want to buy a ipod as my iphone as no memory from all of my music, is there a way of transferring the music from the iphone to the ipod? i dont want to have to re download or buy all of the music again! Don't want to buy a ipod then find out this! Please help!
You can redownload most iTunes purchases directly to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise you will have to sync from your iTunes library. -
I have a question is there any way I can put music from my iPad to my iPod? Some one said to me yes by using a DRM
Would those work if I am using the 4g wifi hotspot on the ipad to get the music onto an ipod touch? I am willing to give up third party music if this would work. Just not sure if it would work since the 4g wifi has that 50mb restriction

I run an itune 10.4 and would like to back up my entire library to a DVD, because I do not have an external hard drive to back it up to (as the "help" topic is suggesting). Is it possible?...and if so, can someone help me please.
This is no longer done via iTunes.
Use whatever CD/DVD burner software is installed on your computer.
Add the iTunes media folder to the list of files/folders to burn to disc. -
My 1st ipod was lost. My library is on a Dell with Windows. I registered my new ipod to a Mac. How can I get my library from Windows onto my new Ipod?
Thank you for your help. I am still having trouble. As you can tell, I am not technologically advanced AT ALL. My music is all showing up in the library but when I go to file in the top left corner, Sync is greyed out and I cannot select it. I'm gonna continue to try this. It's been a long time since I had my 1st ipod and things have changed so much I will probably need to research this stuff. Thanks again for your help.

Any input on how to move a library from your ipod classic when the original computer was stolen? Especially when there is large quantities of music that is not downloaded, but uploaded from cd.

EdiTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder. -
Is there a way to transfer all information from the iPhone to a USB device/drive without the use of a computer? Can this be done via USB hookup with an app?
Thank you for your quick response.
Are there any apps that can do this, or is there a way to create an app to do this?
