Is there a way to "nest" folders in iPhoto?

I'd like to create folders for my kids and then categorize them by year of age. Is there a way to nest folders. Main folder for each child, then subfolders by year of age? Thanks!

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Here is a possibkle workaround, assuming the iPads are all starting out with the same initial content on them:
Backup that iPad to each computer you will be using. Then restore from the backup (only takes a couple minutes). Then rename the other 22 iPads.

Not quite sure what's the advantage of a team account - just seems like a bulk purchase of single accounts. As a team working in the cloud I'd expect to be able to collaborate on projects not a single file.

The advantage of a Team account is not bulk purchase but being able to assign and remove Seats as needed by an Administrator who handles billing. With an Individual subscription the payment information is attached to each the individual.

Is there another way to open a different iPhoto library?

Is there another way to open a different iPhoto library besides using the option key and clicking on the iPhoto icon? It takes me upwards of a dozen times to get it to work, so I get that screen where I choose which library I want to open - the option key usually just doesn't respond. And since it takes several seconds for my main iPhoto library to shut down everytime it incorrectly opens up, it ends up taking me upwards of a few minutes, and a lot of frustration, by the time the option key suddenly decides to randomly work and I can choose the other library I want. This is iPhoto '09, version 10.6.8, by the way.

Of course I understand about double-clicking. but how can I double-click to choose the name of the iPhoto library I want when I cannot reliably get the menu option screen listing my two libraries to come up. As far as where the two libraries are actually stored on my computer, I haven't a clue - I just created the libraries on that iphoto library menu screen at some point in the past when I was setting it up. Is there some other place I could navigate to via Finder to select the library I want? I just don't think I need to spend $20 on software that I don't need - if I has lots of libraries, sure, but most of the time I use just the one library. But it's driving me crazy that when I do switch, I m having such difficulty.

Create an album and place into it any pictures you like. You can even place every single picture in your iPhoto library into it. The pictures can then be organized in any arbitrary way you wish within that album.

There are two apps, actually one app and one Applescript script, for finding and removing duplicate photos from iPhoto. They are:
Duplicate Annihilator
iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates - free
The script only identifies the duplicates and leaves deleteing them up to you. Duplicate Annihilator will identify and move the dulicates to the Trash for you. It'll still be up to you to empty the trash bin.

I have been pretty clueless about many of the computer applications I've heard of, but I've learned a bit by doing what you suggested. I was able to "fix" my iphoto and a I got a few other nice changes after updating the 3 free updates that were available to me. Thanks so much! - One thing that was so wonderful about getting my iphoto "back" was being able to share my photos with my Dad for this weekend-during his 88th birthday!

Is there a way to create folders in the pictures app?

Since I got my Playbook I've been very impressed with the camera quality, way better than my phones 1.3. So I've been taking a lot of pictures. I have taken a lot of my car because I'm making a website for it and want a lot of pictures of it, I take some random ones just for the fun of it, and in school my friends take pictures of themselves with it (it blows the ipad 2's camera quality away) I'd like to put them in separate folders in the pictiures app so that way I don't have to go through all of them and if people want to see the pics they took in school they don't have to go through all of the ones of my stuff on there. I know there is automatically a folder for downloaded pictures, and another for wallpaper like if you got a wallpaper app and download pictures from it. All of my pictures I've taken are in the "camera pictures" folder, so is there a way I can create folders in the app and organize them?

If you create the folders as a child within the main pictures folder, then they will show up in the app separately. I have many folders with pictures in.
You will need to move the photos manually - they will automatically go in the Camera folder.

Is there any way to keep folders organized without having to reorganize?

I download a lot of mixtapes and am very organized about my music. If it helps I always manually add my music into iTunes and have the music I've purchased and uploaded from CDs seperated from the music I get online. I'm constantly finding new artists and make a folder for them. Every time I open Finder and go to the folder containing all the artist folders I constantly have to clean it up and arrange them by kind and name. Some of the mixtapes have never been opened but I have them in case I ever want to hand them to a friend or want to find new music. When I create a new folder it's always at the bottom despite everything else being organized alphabetically and by kind. Is there a way to for my music to stay organized withough having to constantly select all and arrange it? Like if I create a new folder with the letter B I want it to automatically go where all the B folders are without having to move it on my own. Thanks!

The software "Big Folder Machine 2" should do all of what you want.
EDIT: I think I misread your post. If you just right-click and arrange by name, it will do it. There is no need to select every folder.

Enter Time Machine, navigate to the files you want to delete, select them, click the gear button, and then click "Remove all backups of...".

You would have to import them to iPhoto, iPhoto cannot work with images that are not in its library.
You might try some of the other viewers out there.

I'm trying to change the view options in my folders, so that the subfolders in one folder don't display in the same way as the main folder. For instance, I'd like my music folder to display the artists with medium size icons, but when I click into an artist,
I'd like the albums to have the list format, not the medium icons. I've looked around but haven't been able to word it effectively enough to get an answer, I guess. Does anyone know if this can be changed?

If you want to have a better experience of your music files, how about just use WMP to enjoy all the songs, you can
sort by Artists or Album or whatever you like. There, you can have a better and easier way to organize all your music
files.
For Windows Explorer, did you mean
medium size icons in artist, while list icon in albums, you can just organize as you want like the following screenshot.

When you have a Finder window open, you can select "View" > "Show View Options" from the menu bar.
In the dialog box that appears, check "Keep arranged by" and select "Name".
