  • Opening an image in Camera Raw from Bridge

I recently installed CC.  In Bridge preferences>behaviour, I enabled double clicking on image to open in Camera Raw.  That doesnt work.  Also when I go to File>Open with, Camera Raw is no longer a choice. Has that been disabled in CC?

    That is not possible
Unless you hold down the shift key to bypass the ACR window and open directly in PS…
But yes, I agree, it seems not the normal route for a raw file.
Also using both Bridge and LR together is not the best workflow.

  • I cannot open JPG images in Camera RAW from Bridge or via "Open as" facility in Photoshop

I am going crazy with Photoshop CC!!! I have been using Photoshop CC and Bridge CC since Feb 2014 and have a recurring problem, which comes back periodically after having been fixed with the aid of the Adobe Help Chat facility. Today the Chat facility is not on-line, so in desperation I'm hoping someone in the Community can help me.
When I try to open a JPG file in Bridge I get the message "Bridge's parent application is not active. Bridge requires that aqualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature".
When I try to open a JPG file in Photoshop using the "Open As" facility, I get the message "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file".
I am running CC on a Dell laptop under Windows 7 64-bit.
    Can anyone help me please?

I should add that JPGs edited with ACR usually need to be writable for ACR to be able to store the adjustment-settings inside themselves.  RAW files typically use an XMP sidecar to store settings, but JPGs typically don't.
If the files weren't read/write then ACR would have no way to store the adjustments in them and so is smart enough to not make them available for editing.
The other hint is that if you copy the files to your desktop--where the permissions are likely to be more friendly, they work.
To check the permissions, right-click on one of the files in Explorer, select Properties from the context menu and look at the Security tab.  Look at the various user-groups, like Users, Authenticated Users, Administrators, etc, and see what access each has to one oft he problem files, and then to one of the files that works ok.
You might also check the Effective Rights of a particular user to a particular file by clicking on the Advanced button in the Security tab.  Here is an example where I show only Read + Read & Execute access to an NEF for general users, but when I check my own logged in User (steve) I have Full Control which includes all the other access privileges, and this is either because I'm in the Administrators group or I am the owner, I'm not sure.  It is possible that Bridge or Photoshop is running in a user context other than your logged in user, or it's possible that another user accessed the files and changed the permissions to them.

  • Starting an action by opening an image in Camera RAW

I am currently using Adobe CS3 Design Premium with Windows XP Pro as the operating system. The computer is a self build and has 2GB of RAM, 450GB of onboard HD storage and 6x500GB of external HD storage.
As a photographer I frequently end up with anything between a 100 and 300 RAW images after a days work and convert them to DNG, Tif and JPEG files.
With CS2 I ran an action which opened the image in Camera RAW which then enabled me to make adjustments before opening the image in Photoshop and completing the other elements of the action. Since upgrading to CS3 I have been unable to create a similar action and having read the "knowledge based" information and looked through the topics in the forum have failed to find anything that is of help. As each image and the conditions under which it has been taken differ it is quite important to make corrections in Camera RAW before completing the action in Photoshop and fixed settings applied by Camera RAW would be inappropriate.
It is always possible that I am making a fundamental error in writing the action but given my previous experience it seems unlikely. Incidentally I usually bring up the images in Bridge and then select the best images to process and start the action from Bridge.
I should be very grateful for any help in resolving this problem

there's your problem...when you start the action recording from Photoshop you'll need to actually open a raw image FROM Photoshop not from Bridge. Don't know if this changed from CS2>CS3, but that's the only sure way of recording an open function...from within Photoshop. Then in the Batch you'll still need to override open so the open will open the image with the parameters already set in the image.

  • I have downloaded Adobe camera raw 8.4 so that I can open raw files with pictures taken with the Sony a6000 camera.  However it is not opening the images in camera raw.  What can I do?

Close and restart Photoshop if you have not already done so.
In Photoshop, go to the Help - About Plug-in... menu then choose Camera Raw.  What version does it say there?

  • Cannot open some jpgs in Camera Raw from Bridge

A couple of days ago, I rated select images from a set as 5 stars, and now I cannot open these in Camera Raw from Bridge. I get no error messages or anything, there is just simply no option to Open in Camera Raw from the File menu, or the right-click menu. The images I did not rate still open in Camera Raw, and not all of the starred ones have this problem - just 20 or so consecutive images. This makes no sense to me, as all the images as far as I can tell should operate the same way. They are all jpgs. I can find workarounds to this like working in Photoshop (all the images still open in Photoshop) or possibly just reloading the photos from the memory card, but I'd like to know why this would even be a problem to avoid it in the future. I'm using CC on Win 8.

  • Bridge CS6 insist to open Camera raw files via Photoshop CS6 instead of CC

    Hi
I´ve trying to start using Photoshop CC instead of CS6. The problem is that my Bridge CS6 is opening Camera RAWs to Photoshop CS6 as a default instead of CC. I`ve changed Finder defaults and as well as Bridges own File type assosiations to use Photoshop CC as a default, but still it isnt working. I wouldnt want to delete Photoshop CS6 completely.
    Any help, anyone?

Which version mac os x are you using?
If it's mac os x 10.6.8 snow leopard, then post back before installing bridge cc.
I believe you need to install bridge cc so your camera raw files will open from the camera raw dialog in bridge cc to photoshop cc.
Also of note is the camera raw version for bridge cs6 doesn't have any of the new features that the bridge cc version of camera raw has.
If you open the the Creative Cloud Desktop.app, then you should see Bridge CC available for install.
    Applications>Adobe Creative Cloud>Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Is there a way to open an image in a floating, resizable window?

In previous versions of PDE I could open an image (or for that matter, multiple images) as floating, resizable windows.  Now, images seem anchored.  How can I detact them from the big editing screen, such that I can move them around the computer screen as I could in the past?
    Thanks,
    Haly2k1

Open Editor and click Edit à Preferences à General
Then check the box “Allow Floating Documents in Full Edit Mode”

  • Is there any way to make thumbnails bigger in Camera Raw?

When I open raw files in Camera Raw the thumbnails are absolutely tiny - about 9 thumbnails across my screen - ie. too small to see properly if they are good to open. I've googled and searched, and I don't think there is any way to change the size, but just thought I'd check on here.

    SophieCarrPhoto wrote:
I can now see how you I can change the thumbnail size in the Organizer, and then open them in ACR from there, so that's helpful, but I still have to import the images, don't I?
Yes, that's how Elements and Lightroom, and Aperture, and many other database management systems do work. You do not 'import' files, I would rather say that you 'register' files in a database (catalog).
Imagine you are in charge of a paintings museum and you want to edit a catalog for visitors. When you get new masterpieces, you enter all the details : painter, date, canvas size, biography elements and the room in which it is displayed. For easier  search, you include a small reproduction of the painting in the booklet you give the visitors. That's it.
    - You might think it's more work ? The downloader makes this 'registration' for you.
    - Is it slower ? No, since the files are not duplicated, 'registering' = 'getting photos and videos' from 'files or folders' or from 'camera or card reader' only means reading the files header. Very quick for tens of thousands of images. You can tell the downloader to download everything in your 'Pictures' master folder or be more selective.
    - If you are going to add keywords, captions, ratings, if you want to keep track of originals and derivatives in version sets, no other folder based system can compete in power and speed for retrieval and grouping.
    - You don't need to 'register' all your photos. You can do so only for a given project, such as a travel session : slideshow, web extracts, printed book...
    - The organizer helps you for backups, which is very important.
    - If you are concerned about keeping your own folder tree, do it from the organizer 'Folder' view. It offers the same tools and look as the explorer / finder, but it keeps the database updated of all the changes you are doing in the structure : moving, deleting or renaming.

  • Open as SmartObject/Open as image in Camera Raw (Mac)

    Hi!
I am having an issue when opening a file with Photoshop. I am running Pohotshop CS4 for Mac, OS X Leopard. Whenever I begin a new project in photoshop, and open an image file, the "Open Image " button is replaced by a "Open Object" button at the bottom of the dialogue box. I do not want to open as a smart object. I am in need of a solution/guidance on how to undo this issue.  I was simply making an isolated image into a smart object and was shocked to find this change the next time I used Ps. I reset all photoshop settings to original deafult (by holding command/option/shift and running Ps) yet, this did not solve the issue.
I hope you can help, Thank you. Felicia

Just found the solution on another question! when opening an image, click the blue text hyperlink near the "open" button that will open a box which gives you the option to deselct "open as smart object" hope others find that useful.

  • Cannot open JPEG files in Camera Raw from Bridge

I am using Adobe Web Premium CS3 with Windows Vista. In Bridge under File, the "Open in Camera Raw" is grayed out. In preferences, I checked "Double-Click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge" and when I double-click a JPEG file it still opens in Photoshop CS3. I've downloaded and installed the latest Camera Raw plugin (Camera Raw.8bi dated 3/27/2008) into Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats. Nothing seems to work.

I am experiencing the same problem under XP SP2. It is intermittent. Everything will be OK and then the next time I open the folder Camera Raw is not available.
I just did a little experiment. I created a sub-folder in the folder that would not produce Cam Raw and moved a jpg to it. When I right clicked it in the new folder, Cam Raw was there as it should be. I moved the jpg back to the original folder that had the problem and Cam Raw opened in that folder too, but not on any of the other jpg's in that folder.
I moved all of the jpg's to this sub folder and back and Cam Raw was there on all the jpg's.
There is without a doubt some real flakies in Bridge. I also have workspaces saved that suddenly are not saved any more.
Hope this helps out your problem Donald. Oh, I am using web premium CS3 also

  • Can´t open files directly in Camera Raw from Bridge.

It has been working before without problems. Bridge 6.0.1.6   OS X  10.10

  • Is there a way to export photo images and their metadata from Adobe Bridge to MS excel?

Is there a plugin, or script that allows photos and their metadata to be exported from Adobe Bridge to Microsoft excel?

I would like to see the description with the image when it is attached to an email.  I would also like to be able to create a DVD of the images that would include the descriptions when the DVD is played back.
For that you will need iDVD to create a slideshow of the images and then display either the Title, Description or both as shown below and then burn to disk creating a video DVD to play on a TV set:
If you want the description on the image itself you'll need to use a 3rd party editor like one of those below or the free watermark iPhoto plugin, BorderFX.
Some Image Editors That Support layers:
    Photoshop Elements 11 for Mac - $79
    GraphicConverter - $40
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Imagerie - $38
    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60
    Seashore - Free
    GIMP for Mac - Free
    Xee 2.1 - free

  • Is there a way to manage (arrange and add/delete) apps from within itunes while I have my iphone 4S connected to computer... instead of doing it on the phone itself? I have an unreasonable number of apps and need to clean it all up.

I have a replacement phone and have saved a backup but ideally before or, if need be, directly after I restore from backup I would love to clean up my apps.  I have over 2000 apps which I clearly don't use all at once so like to keep most of them sitting in itunes however recently life got messy and so did my phone so much so that I just lost control of what was on it and not on it because of a forgotten wifi synch that I'd not disabled so randomly id get apps appearing on my phone that I'd deleted ages and ages ago.  Anyway the notion of having to fix it all on the phone with the jiggling icons is a painful one... I am hoping I can do it via my lap top instead.  Anyone? all search efforts have not arrived me at the info I seek.

Yes, connect your iPhone to your computer, click onthe name of your iPhone then click on the apps tab in iTunes.

  • Is there a way to open the main browser when only the download window is open ?

Many times I have closed the browser by accident, or when to many windows are open and just cleaning up... normally this happens when a download is being done and then when trying to open the browser again it is not allowed for an instance is already running. Is there a way to open the browser back up just from the download window ?? This does cause the pausing and retry of the download of course, but when doing large files ... gigers, many times I have lost it completely, is there a way around this besides the obvious do not close ?

I know of no way to re-open Firefox in your case. However, you can set a preference that will give you a pop-up message when a download is in progress, then you have 2 options presented; continue with closing Firefox which will cancel the download or cancel closing Firefox and the download will continue. This way one last Firefox browser window remains open along with the download window.
To have Firefox warn you when a download is in progress and you choose File > Exit, change a preference:
#type '''about:config''' in the URL/location bar and press the Enter key
#if you see a warning, accept it (promise to be careful)
    #Filter = browser.download.manager.quitBehavior
#right-click (OSX: Cmd+click) on that preference
    #choose Modify
    #enter a new value of 2
    #click OK
#you may need to restart Firefox for the change to take effect
    See:
