Is there a way to open Pages 09 documents in Yosemite?

Hi. I upgraded to Yosemite last year. But today I realized I needed to open some Pages 09 documents. They won't open in the newer, latest version of Pages. I can view the contents of the documents in the Finder via Cover Flow — so I think it's crazy that they can't be opened with the newer Pages.
Anyway, I had deleted iWork 09 after I upgraded to Yosemite. I tried to reinstall Pages 09 from an older back up but when I tried to launch the application, it never opened.
So I'm just wondering if there are any workarounds to opening the  Pages 09 documents under Yosemite.
Thanks.
Mirsky

Lanny, thanks for the quick reply. I guess now I don't remember which version of Pages I used to create my old documents. I thought I'd used Pages 09.
When I double-click my old Pages documents, the latest version of Pages opens with the following message:
"This document can't be opened because it's too old.
To open it, save with Pages '09 first."
Then there is a Cancel button and Open in Pages '09 button."
But it seems like Pages 09 won't run under Yosemite.

  • Is there a way to open pages documents on Windows?

    My ibook G4 died recently out of warranty, and I'm now without a way to open all my documents, which I created and saved in the pages format.
    Is there a way to open these documents on a Windows XP machine, as that is the only machine I currently have available?

    There are certain data you can save copying a Pages document to Windows, but not much. If you copy a Pages document to a Windows machine, you will see that it is in fact a folder. In that folder you will find pictures you have included in the document. You will also find a file called index.xml.gz. You can expand that one on windows - probably with Winzip - and open the xml file in your favourite browser, and then you will see the text you added among quite a lot of garbled text. Formating will be gone.
    To some of us Pages' Mac-centric format is very inconvenient, but many users are quite happy with it, as they rarerly need the documents on a Windows machine. And when it happens they see no problem first exporting it to .doc, .pdf or .rtf format.

  • Is there a way to save Pages documents so they can be opened with MS Word?

    Hi,
    I have been a PC user my whole life, but just recently purchased a Mac. I bought an iMac and absolutely love it! I'm still trying to figure everything out though. I just purchased iWork 09, but it hasn't arrived yet, so I'm using the trial version right now. I'm currently unemployed so I spend a lot of my time looking for jobs on the internet, and sending out resumes. Every place that accepts online resumes wants them to be in MS Word format. After I bought iWork 09 I was wondering if I had made a mistake and should have bought MS Office for Mac instead? Is there a way to save it as a Word document or format it as something that Word accepts? Also, can you do the same for Numbers-Excel, and Keynote-Powerpoint? Any information you can give me would be a big help.
    Thanks

    Hi Tom
    In iWork '09 you may use
    File > Save as > Save a copy as > Word document

  • Is there a way to open page with a new Tabular Form row?

    Hi All,
    I have a (non-manual) Tabular Form that works great. My requirement is to have the new page to open with a new row already added.
    I tried      onLoad="onLoadProcess()";
         <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
         function onLoadProcess(){
         doSubmit('ADD');
         </script>
    but it hits every onload so it loops, each submit causing another submit.
    Anyway of getting the rowcount in the tabular form without making a manual one?
    Thanks, Bill

    Bill,
    Here's a short (hah!) example of how to do it with a manual form. No idea of how hard it may be to convert to a wizard form.
    select
    x.PERSON_ID,
    x.ck ck,
    x.PERSON_ROLE,
    x.del
    from (
    SELECT
    apex_item.select_list_from_lov(1,person_id,'PEOPLE') PERSON_ID,
    apex_item.hidden(2,issue_id)||
    apex_item.hidden(3,wwv_flow_item.md5(person_id,issue_id,person_role)) ck,
    apex_item.select_list_from_lov(4,person_role,'ROLES') PERSON_ROLE,
    apex_item.checkbox(5,person_id||issue_id) del
    FROM HT_ASSIGNMENTS
    WHERE ISSUE_ID = :P7_ISSUE_ID
    union all
    select apex_item.select_list_from_lov(1,NULL,'PEOPLE') PERSON_ID,
    apex_item.hidden(2,to_number(:P7_ISSUE_ID))||
    apex_item.hidden(3,null) ck,
    apex_item.select_list_from_lov(4,NULL,'ROLES') PERSON_ROLE,
    apex_item.checkbox(5,null) del
    from dual) x

  • Is there any way create a pages document in spanish on iPad?

    Hi, I just got pages for my first gen iPad, and I want to be able to do my Spanish homework in pages, but I can't figure out how to change the document language to Spanish. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Francis

    If you are talking about spell-checking, then you have to change the iPad OS language to Spanish.  It's a bug -- changing the keyboard normally does the trick.

    THis is safe for Mac's? Sorry, I have just never heard of this site before.
    And there are literally tens of thousands of sites of which I've not heard, too. Not this one.
    It's legit. There are lots of links in Apple Support Communities to the LibreOffice web site, as well as others that are legitimate open-source developers of options to buying MS Office, such as NeoOffice and OpenOffice. I have Open Office installed on one of my older Macs that can't run Office 2011 and it is rock-solid.
    I've been here too long to start posting bogus urls now.

  • When I attempt to open a PDF file I saved from a website, I get the message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." Is there any way to correct this problem?

    When I attempt to open a PDF file I saved from a website using Safari, I get the message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." When I save the same PDF file using FireFox it opens up immediately. Is there any way to correct this problem with Safari?

    Back up all data.
    Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
    From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
    The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
    If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

    Is there a way of opening up old PSD documents and photos on the iMac please?

    .psd (photoshop) files should open in preview to view them and make some simple adjustments.
    If you want to edit them but don't want the expense of buying Photoshop (or Elements) for your Mac, consider downloading Gimp - it's free.

  • HT4399 I have a Mac Book Air and have purchased individually numbers and pages.  I was given an excel file on a thumb drive and cannot open it.  Is there a way to open the xcl file in numbers?

    I have a MacBook Air, and have purchased individually Numbers and Pages.  I was sent an Excel file on a thumb drive but cannot open the file.  The message states that the Excel file is encryeted.  Is ther any way to open a PC file on my Mac Book Air?
    Pat and Bob

    Excel does not use the .xcl extension for any of its native file formats?  The only files I've ever seen with xcl as the file extension were associated with embedded application code projects.
    If this is in fact an Excel file, but an encrypted one, you cannot open it (in excel or any compatible application) without the decryption password.

    Thank You

    No, Apple can't help.  Just connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. If necessary, place the iPod in recovery mode.  For that mode see:

  • Is there any way to open an VB6 execulatble application via a Sharepoint application page?

    Is there any way to open an VB6 execulatble application via a Sharepoint application page?

    No, only thing you can do is add a link to a sharepoint application page that points to a vb6 executable, once the end user clicks that one, the client OS and end user decide what happens next.

  • Is there an issue opening Pages documents between iMac and iPad"

    got the most recent version of operating systems and pages on both iMac and iPad; thought I should be able to open Pages document on both computer and device.  am I wrong?

    Make sure you are trying to open these documents in Pages 5. If you're using a Dock icon you had before updating, be aware that the Dock icons are not updated & will continue to launch the previous version which is still in your Applications folder in a folder named iWork 09.

  • SSRS PDF Export. There was an error opening this document. This file is damaged and could not be repaired

    Hello,
    I just experienced this problem, and was able to successfully mitigate.  I wanted to share my experience and Solution.
    The problem started with the following error after succesfully exporting a PDF Document.  "There was an error opening this document. This file is damaged and could not be repaired."
    This is only applicable if you can still export and open SSRS Reports to other formats. Go to the Log files of the SQL Instance. In my particular case I used the Default MSSQL instance:   C:\ Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting
    Services\LogFiles
    The Folder will begin with MSRS (SRS is for SQL Reporting Services)
    Sort the files by date modified and check for the most recent log file: ex.  SQLDmpr0000.log  The 0000 will be the incremental amount of errors you have experienced in SRS. Check for the following error:
    "System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'T2Embed': Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))"
    Below is a sample from the log.

    If you notice the error states that T2Embed.dll access is denied. In my case this due to a hotfix installed by Microsoft:
     MS11-087: Vulnerability in Windows kernel-mode drivers could allow remote code execution: December 13, 2011
    Be advised, in order to fix your problem and render pdf's, a vulnerability shall be created.
     To fix this issue and allow the export to PDF work correctly, you must give the system Read/Execute Permissions, and Built-in\Administrators Full Control.
    Go to Windows\System32 and find the T2Embed.dll Go to Security and modify the permissions as listed above. Do the same to the T2Embed.dll in the SysWow64 folder.
    Restart Reporting Services and you will be able to export to PDF.
    Best Wishes!

    I'm not convinced this is the exact cause of the issue.  I will check my log files to see if I find anything like what you described.  However, I get this error when a particular user tries to do a "print preview" from a custom button.  The
    code builds a ReportViewer object, sets the ReportPath, etc.
    The reason I'm not convinced is because we have a separate reports page that has the report viewer embedded into it.  If the user generates the report that way and exports to PDF, Word, etc...the user can generate the file and be on their way.  As
    soon as the user clicks our "Print" button on the page without the ReportViewer embedded, the above mentioned error occurs.
    UPDATE: Perhaps we have a different problem since my issue is from a custom button.  I found the solution
    here and confirmed the solution with the customer.  It had to do with the code using Response.Flush() instead of Response.End().
    One thing I noticed before I implemented the change: When you would close the PDF, it would ask you to save changes to the PDF.  After implementing Response.End() instead, that prompt went away.  No doubt it has to do with the differences between
    how Response.Flush() and Response.End() handle the stream returned.
    Anyway, posting in case someone has the same issue.

  • Pro 9 Users Receive "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."

    Users with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (Windows XP) are not able to open PDFs created on the server. They receive the error message:
    “There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.”
    Even if the users save to disk and try to re-open, the error still occurs.
    This error did not surface in our QA testing because we were testing with Adobe Acrobat Reader 8. What can the difference be? Is there additional information that I can look for in order to troubleshoot this?
    Thank you for looking at my post. Please provide guidance in trying to resolve this issue.

    So, I'm not sure how much this will help but if you save the pdf AHW_Test_05112009xx.pdf and open it in a text editor, and go all the way down to the bottom where the %%EOF marker is, it looks as if the html page is getting appended to the end of the pdf. I recieved the "This file was damaged..." error in Adobe 7.1.0 when trying to open it but if you remove the html at the end, it opens up just fine.
    It appears that whatever's appending the html to the end is causing the issue.
    Below is what the file looks like near the end after the EOF:
    startxref
    400771
    %%EOF
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
