Is there a way to perform a clean install without the Internet on the computer that my iPhone is backed up on?

I don't have Internet on my PC that my iPhone is backed up to. Without connecting it to the Internet, how can I perform a clean install? Since iOS 7 my battery life has been crap, I've tried everything except a clean install, so this is my last resort but I wanna make sure I can do it before I wipe my phone.

Installing iOS requires an Internet connection, there is no way around this.

Have you tried to reset preferences?  And no you do not have to start Bridge to do this.,
Hold down the Ctrl key and start Bridge.  You should get a reset window with 3 options.  Choose all 3.

  • Is there any advantage in performing a clean install?

I'm curious... My 80GB internal hard drive is nearly full so I will be upgrading to a 250GB.
Is there any advantage in performing a clean install of Tiger on the new HDD and then copying across files etc from the old one using migration tool? (the idea being it will cleanse any old files, code from the numerous OS upgrades as it originally had panther on)
Or will the system be just as fast by using the disk utility to copy the contents (OSX and all) of the 80 GB across to the new 250GB and then set that as the boot drive?

If you are asking if there is an advantage to doing an erase and install, then yes, you'll be able to ascertain any of the issues you've been having with Apple software are hardware related issues if before the migration assistant you have trouble with any Apple applications. Cloning one drive to another, you'll find yourself with whatever corrupted fonts, cache, preferences files you had before. I would though make a backup of your data to a second drive before attempting the move, simply because it is wise to have at least two copies of your data at all times.

  • Selling G4 iMac - How do I perform a clean install

I'm selling my G4 iMac to work and they have given my a Tiger disk to install. I would like it to erase all my old files such as my financial items and my photos as well as my music, etc.
Is there a way of doing a clean install which takes the computer back to square one with just the basic info on it?
    Thanks!

Boot from the restore disc. Go to the Apple menu and select Disk Utility. In Disk Utility, reformat the hard drive and choose the option to write all zeroes. After that is complete, use the restore disc to restore the iMac to its factory condition.

    Hi Tracy
You can post unplanned depreciation from ABAA.
After ABAA, run AFAB to post the same in FI-GL

  • How do I perform a clean install of ios8 on my iPhone 5

I would like to perform a clean install, meaning not putting ios8 on top of ios7.
Is there an advantage to doing this? When I installed Mavericks on my MBP I had the Genius Bar do it and it was like a new Mac,
So, my thoughts are that a clean install, starting as if it were a new phone would be the same.
    Is this true?
How would I do that after backing up through the latest iTunes.
Would I need to set up pop mail accounts from scratch or would that come back in the restore backups
As you can see, I am unsure as to the best way to make my iPhone 5 run trouble free with ios8
    Advice and instructions are welcome

Okay....so Apple does have a guide related to Mass deployment which includes a rough way to do a clean OS X Server clean install. You need to use a NetBoot Lion Server as a boot, but it works.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4746
Use these steps to create a NetRestore image of an un-configured Lion Server:
Install OS X Lion, and then Lion Server. This server will be used to create the NetRestore image.
On the server, install the app named "Install Mac OS X Lion" from the Mac App Store (a network connection is required for this process).
Install the Server Admin Tools from http://support.apple.com/downloads/ on the server.
Open the "Install Mac OS X Lion" application, and install to an empty volume. This volume can be a spare partition or external hard drive. Be sure to click the Customize button and to select the Lion Server software.
Once installation is complete, the server will restart from the newly installed volume.  Instead of completing the setup assistant, press Command-Q to quit the assistant.
Select the option to shut the server down.
Restart the server and hold the Option key.
When the Startup Manager appears, select the volume which you've already configured Lion Server on.
Open System Image Utility and create a NetRestore image from the newly installed (and still un-configured) volume. If you'd prefer to image the volume after it has already been configured, you can proceed with the setup assistant before booting back to the original installation created in step 1.

  • Cannot perform a clean install of CF 10 - ODBC Agent and ODBC Server are not in Services - Win2k8 R2

I've tried to perform a clean install on a Win2k8 R2 x64 server several times and I can't seem to get it to install.
I was upgrading from CF 9, which took several attempts. I eventually got CF 10 working and running with the latest updates. But the server would only run for about 15 minutes and everything would come to a screaching hault. ColdFusion pages would fail to load with no error. The pages would hang and wait for the server to respond, which it never did. Restarting IIS would fix the problem.
I have about 20 CF sites on the machine. I came accross an article that talked about pool sizes, etc. I ended up trying a few things with the Web Server Configuration Tool, and as I was adding/deleting servers, I got an error that some application unexpectedly quit, but it wasn't the wsconfig tool. This happened about 3 times as I was deleting servers that I had previously added. Then I tried loading the CF Admin and I got a 500.0 internal server error.
So I bit the bullet and figured I would start all over again. I uninstalled CF 10... now there's nothing on the machine. Re-installed CF 10, and I get the same 500.0 Internal Server Error. I uninstalled, restarted, installed... same thing. Then I found an error in the event viewer that reads:
The description for Event ID 0 from source ColdFusion 10 ODBC Server cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
ColdFusion 10 ODBC Server error: 0
    StartServiceCtrlDispatcher Error!
Then I found out that neither the ColdFusion 10 ODBC Agent or the ColdFusion 10 ODBC Server have been installed... at least they're not showing up in the list of services. msconfig also shows that they don't exist at all. I tried reinstalling several times and I can't get them to show up.
PS: It's 6:15 AM and I've been working on this since 10 PM last night. I NEED HELP! Thanks!

    Hello,
Once you move your application from any prior version of ColdFusion to ColdFusion 10, you will have to tune your application, as the architecture changed from JRun to Tomcat.
You can refer to the article http://blogs.coldfusion.com/post.cfm/tuning-coldfusion-10-iis-connector-configuration for parameters, that needs to be tuned appropriately to make CF connector works flawlessly.
    Hope this helps

  • Is there any way I can view / remove pictures from Camera Roll on the iPhone, on a Mac, without actually importing the files?

Is there any way I can view / remove pictures from Camera Roll on the iPhone, on a Mac, without actually importing the files? I just want to view / delete files without importing them.
For instance I have 1200 photos on my iPhone Camera Roll. Some of these are shots, that I've taken multiple times, some good, some bad. I just want to clean up my Camera Roll, but going through the pictures on the iPhone's small screen is tedious. I'd much rather look at the camera roll's photo's on my Mac, and then decide which files I'd like to keep, and which to delete.
I don't want to import the files, as when I import the files, and delete them from Camera Roll, now the Photo's are not on my phone, and the only way to get them back on my Phone is to Import them back in using iTunes, and then they go into the Picture Library and not the Camera Roll.
In the same way as I can view Pics from my digital camera's SD card on a Mac without having to actually copy them to my computer, is there any app out there that will let me view my iPhone pics without importing them.

    The short answer is yes.
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
    Open Image Capture application.
Click on the 4 little squares at bottom to view them as photos, not a list.
Select the photos them click the No Entry icon at bottom to delete.

  • Performing a Clean Install

I, like many others before me, have noticed some lagginess with the core animations (expose, minimizing, dock magnification) after doing an upgrade installation of leopard. I want to perform a clean install, as people who have done this say that it really helps with this problem and other speed issues in general.
What I would like to do is perform a clean install and then reload all of my documents and applications back onto the disk. What is the best way to go about doing this? I am also interested in freeing up some HD space so it would be nice to not have to do a full restoration.
Would it be unwise to try and selectively restore items back to my drive using time machine? Should I just do a clean install and then a full system time machine restore, or would that just bring back my same speed issues?
I'm just looking for a little insight into what would be the best and safest way to go about a clean install. Thanks a lot!

Use CCC (carbon copy cloner) to clone your system to an external firewire connected hard disk to a partition that is slightly larger than the in use size of your MBP disk.
Verify that you can boot from the clone.
    Disconnect the clone disk.
Do an erase and install on your MBP hard disk.
Apply all of the software updates.
Reinstall any purchased applications that you use.
    Connect the cloned disk.
Move your data from the clone to the MBP using finder on as as needed basis.
Keep the clone until you are satisfied that you have recovered everything that you need (3 months to a year).

  • How to Perform a Clean Install of Panther 10.3

I am currently running Jaguar 10.2.8 (no OS9) on an iMac G3/400, 320 megs ram, dsl internet. I want to perform a clean install of Panther 10.3 (not the upgrade or archive + install). After placing the first Panther disc in the slot, I get a screen on which I click the install icon, I then click the restart, the machine reboots, gives me an installation screen asking me to choose the language, I choose English, then click "continue", I then get a screen telling me I cannot install OSX because the "firmware" is not up to date. I then have to click on the "close" button, then use a pin to get the cd out of the machine. I thought the only firmware update necessary was when you want to install Jaguar over OS9. How can I fix this situation so I can install Panther? I am not much of a techie, fairly new to Mac so please make your reply easy to follow. Thanks.

The firmware update for your model is required for running OS X regardless of which version you install. You will need to install OS 9.1 or later in order to install the firmware update if the computer has not been updated.
OS 9 should have been included with the computer as part of the original software that came with it. You can install OS 9 on the same volume on which OS X is currently installed or you can erase the drive before installing OS 9. After you perform the firmware update you can do an Erase and Install of Panther.
You should avoid using a pin to forcibly remove a disc from the optical drive. Just restart the computer and hold down the mouse button to have the disc ejected. See the following:
Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this:
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
    /usr/bin/drutil eject.
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into single-user mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • Cannot load computer, Cannot perform a clean install

    Hello everyone,
Firstly i am primarily a PC user, so bear with my Mac ineptitude. The computer is a MacBook Pro 15" A1286 model - Early 2012 (i think).
I haven't used my MacBook for a couple of months and when i recently went to power it on (full battery charge) i am stuck with a loading/updating screen.
The bar goes about half way and then the computer simply shuts down - so i cannot even load the OS.
Im not sure whats going on, so now i basically want to perform a clean installation / format drive.
So i follow some instructions online and one article says to hold down 'Command + R' when turning the computer on - which brings up the disk utilty fine.
I then proceed to try and erase the drive, format the drive, partition the drive, reinstall os x - nothing works
I am hit with an error message - "Couldn't unmount disk".
After reading several guides, it seems i might be able to boot off another device in order to be able to perform a clean install by loading a file onto a DVD/Flash Stick - but i cannot download anything off my AppStore account as my Mac is not working.
If anyone could point me towards a workable solution, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thankyou

Thanks for the fast reply, however it seems that the first aid utility has detected nothing abnormal with the drive.
Could it really be that the HDD is unusable?
I would still be very interested in any other tips or suggestions.
    Thankyou

  • I performed a clean install, and upgraded to Yosemite. Now iPhoto is gone.

I recently performed a clean install of Yosemite and I am able to install all my old apps expect iPhoto.
It reads, "iPhoto failed to download" "Use the purchases page to try again". Ive ben trying for the past 5 hrs.
I have a good strong internet connection, I am signed in to app store.
This is the only app that will not install.
    Please advise

If a partial download is hanging, have a look at the Launchpad. Is there a progress bar below iPhoto?
Then wait and see, if there is any progress. If not, delete iPhoto from the Launchpad:
Hold down on iphoto until it wiggles and you are seeing a cross in the upper left corner.
    Click the cross to uninstall.
Restart your Mac to clear the App Store caches.
Reload the App Store "Purchased" page by pressing ⌘R.
Then try to download iPhoto again.
Another problem may be a firewall interfering. Disable Little Snitch or similar.
If all fails, try the download again while running the Mac in Safe Mode. That will disable non-standard extensions. See this, on how to start-up in Safe Mode:   Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
