Is there a way to put a large amount of music on your iPod without having to keep all the files in iTunes on your computer as well? I want to put my entire music collection (including cds) on my iPod but don't want to take up the space on my computer.

is there a way to put a large amount of music on the ipod without having to keep all the files on itunes as well? I want to use my ipod as an externa drive and put all of my music on it without taking up the space on my computer. I also don't want to lose all my files everytime I plug ipod into my computer. Is this possible? Is there a way to avoid using itunes and only use the ipod as an external drive?

You cannot put music onto your iPod without using iTunes, that what iTunes is for.
It's also not a good idea to wipe the music from your computer and having it only on your iPod. We see countless posts here from people who have done just that - and then lost everything when the iPod needs a Restore. Even if you never need to Restore your iPod, what happens when you eventually replace the iPod? You'll be back here asking how to get the music from one iPod to another. That's not easy to do, we see countless posts about that too!
A much better idea is to buy an external drive (a proper external drive, not simply an iPod) and put your large amount of music onto that drive. Then point your iTunes Library to that drive. However, you need to remember two things:
You still need a backup of that Library.
Using an external drive as your iTunes Library means that the drive must be connected and ready to read before starting your iTunes programme. If it isn't, then iTunes will look on the C: drive - and you will find no music in your Library. (Once again, lots of posts about that as well!)

Hopefully you moved the entire iTunes Media (or iTunes Music) folder to a new path on your external drive. Copy your iTunes library folder out to the root of the external drive, e.g. X:\iTunes (where X: is your external drive), then move the media folder inside it. Hold down shift as you start iTUnes and keep holding untila asked to choose or create a library. Choose the library at X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. Should all be good.
Failing that, download and run my FindTracks script and point it at the new location of your media folder.

Assuming you are using the latest version go into Settings > Notifications and turn on Allow Notifications for Mail. You can even fine tune it for which email addresses you want to receive notifications from and what kind of alert.

Do you have another router? If not, then the TC must be connected to the modem by Ethernet cable for you to have a network.

  • Is there a way to use a Master Password only to view Saved Passwords, without having to type it in every session?

If anyone ever uses my computer, they can easily see my Saved Passwords. I want to be able to secure them. The only way to do that is by setting a Master Password, which is great, but I don't really want to have to type it in every time I open up my web browser.
I couldn't seem to find this anywhere in any searches. Is there an Add-on or tweak that can set a Master Password only to protect my Saved Passwords?

Thanks, Matt. In my case, the monitor definitely shuts off when I unplug the power from my laptop in clamshell mode. If the lid is open, however, the monitor continues to function even without the power adapter plugged into my laptop. Ideally, I'd like to have the lid closed on my laptop and be able to use the external monitor without having the power plugged into my laptop. That's what doesn't seem to work - if your does, please let me know if you have any pointers.
    Thanks again!

  • Is there any way to play content from my iphone 5s to my HDTV without having internet?

I am moving to an area of coastal New England this week that is secluded and is not serviced by internet or cable and satellite is shoddy as well. I have an an iphone 5s with unlimited data and it gets good enough service to use itunes or stream netflix. But I would like to use airplay or mirror to stream Netflix from my phone to my samsung TV. I originally thought you could use Apple TV with apple devices and not need internet to do so, but I was wrong. Is there anyway to make this work?

Yes you can stream to ATV without internet acess but your plan is not going to work.  First off you will burn though your bandwidth limits on your phone is about a hour or two, maybe a day at best.  Second, it would be WAY to slow and be jerky video at best.  Third AirPlay can not display copyrighted video.  So video from sources like HBO, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc get blocked because the copy right holders require it.
Your best bet might be to store shows on your iPhone, iPad, or laptop.  You will also need a router to act as a go between.  And it will likely still be some what low quality doing it this way.

  • Is there a way I can copy an auto signature automatically into my contacts without having to type a new contact myself?

Is there a way I can copy an auto signature from an automatically into my contacts without having to type a new contact myself?

You don't buy an unlocked phone. You buy a Verizon iPhone at full retail. I just did this myself last month. I paid full retail for the phone and activated it on my plan. This allowed me to get a new phone before I was eligible to upgrade and keep my unlimited data. I also got a good deal on trading in my iPhone 5.
You can buy the phone through Verizon or through Apple. If you buy it through Apple, I'd suggest that you not have them activated but do that yourself by logging into your account on your computer.
    Best of luck.

  • Is there a way to send incoming 'Blocked' and 'Unknown' calls directly to VM without having the call ring or vibrate? (iPhone 5, iOS 7)

I'm tired of getting calls from sales and /or winning a cruise.  How can I automatically send incoming calls that are either 'Blocked' or the number is 'Unknown' directly to Voice Mail.  I would like to skip the ring and the vibrate (I do have a silent ringer tong tone that I can use, but it only works if the ANI shows a number).  Thanks.

    Hi ndmulderx,
If I understand correctly, your family has been sharing a single Apple ID and now you want to give everyone an individual Apple ID without losing any content. You can do this with Family Sharing. The article below provides details about the feature which will allow you to share purchases between family members, create shared photo albums and much more.

  • Is there a way to play/convert large FLAC libraries on Ipod Classic, without having to pre-convert each of the folders?

    Hello,
I'm looking to get an Ipod Classic due to the huge memory it has. The majority of my library is in FLAC and made up of full albums, some with cue files as well. My library is well over 2TB (external hard drive) and mainly FLAC with occasional MP3s and WAV. I'm looking to transfer a bunch of albums in 16/44.1 FLAC on to Ipod Classic. I looked into Rockbox as I did with Sansa Fuze, but as of right now, the Ipod Classic isn't listed. I really wish there was a native way of playing FLAC on the IPod Classic.
So the next best thing I could hope for is to convert FLAC to another format (ALAC or WAV...maybe MP3 for more space, but really want to stick with lossless). Is there a way to queue a bunch of albums (folders) at the same time and have them converted into another format suitable for playback on Ipod Classic. Regarding this conversion process, I have two aspects I am looking to achieve.
    1) The conversion process should be on the fly. I really, really don't want to convert all the FLAC to another IPod format and then keep those converted files on my hard drive until they are transferred to the Ipod. I would much rather prefer something that could extract my FLAC folders from my external hard drive, process, convert, and transfer to the Ipod directly, without having to keep anything directly on my Macbook. This is so I don't run out of space. Also, it's much more easier that way. I don't care much about the time in this process as long as I don't have to constantly doing things manually. I would like to maybe move, say 40-50 GB at a time, until I max out the 160 GB
    2) Proper catalouging of the converted files - I don't want the files losing all their tagging information and coming up randomly, disorganized on the IPod. I understand ALAC is better at this as it can retain the data while WAV can't, but I would still like some input as I have never tried ALAC before.
I looked at MediaMonkey, although I'm not too sure about it. Also, I have a Macbook Pro Retina, so a native app would be the best.

  • My wife and I share an iTunes account. Is there any way to set up a seperate one for her to sync her phone contacts, iCloud and music to without having to purchase all her music again and then share going forward?

My wife and I share an iTunes account. Is there any way to set up a seperate one for her to sync her phone contacts, iCloud and music to without having to purchase all her music again and then share going forward?
It would be so much easier having seperate accounts but we have hundreds of her purchased songs on my account and she would need to be able to access these from her account. Possible?
Also, if we bought a song in future we would want to be able to both have access to it.
Alternatively, what is the easy way to sync two distinctly different contact lists to one iTunes account?
    Thank you in advance.

FYI: iTunes account (used to make purchases) is not the same as iTunes library (iTunes on your computer with music, movies, etc.).
    ecbclb wrote:
Will we have to create a seperate account for her, or can we all have the same one?
You can but you will not be able to limit what she syncs.
I would like to avoid 'checking' and 'unchecking' individual songs every time one of us tries to synch our ipods to the library.
I don't recommend using (only) the checkmarks to select what to sync.
Each of you can create your own playlists then sync only those playlists.
Then add/delete from your own playlists to change iPod content.
The only time I uncheck items is if I rarely/never want to sync them to anything, such as Christmas music or old audiobooks.
I suggest you each have your own computer login account. Then everyone has their own contacts, calendars, and everything else.
You and your husband can share an iTunes library and let your daughter have her own.

I need to create a banner in Fireworks but the canvas is only allowed to go up to 6000px at 300dpi, is there a way to make it larger?

Do NOT use Fireworks for print work. Use Illustrator, InkScape, InDesign, Scribus, Xara Designer Pro, Photoshop, etc, anything BUT Fireworks. Fireworks is meant for web graphics.
However, if you are still convinced it is a good idea to do this in Fw, there is a way to increase the max canvas size:
    Source
However, you can change the limit.
Make sure that Fireworks is closed, open Fireworks CS6 Preferences.txt file located in:
    Windows 7/Vista: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Fireworks CS6\English\
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Fireworks CS6\English\
    MacOS X: Library/Preferences/Adobe Fireworks CS6/en/
    and change
      <key>MaxDocSizeInPixels</key> <integer>6000</integer>
    to
      <key>MaxDocSizeInPixels</key> <integer>10000</integer>
or adjust this number as needed.

  • Is there a way of combining a large number of materials into a grouping cod

    Greetings,
Is there a way of combining a large number of materials into a grouping code, so that and end-user can manage this grouping... adding and removing materials... for auctions?
The materials will likely span material groups in R/3, and there could be thousands of materials. Shopping cart templates would be cumbersome.
I was thinking about a special catalog characteristic with defined names to manage the various groups of materials.
I appreciate any advice... also in awarding points.
    Jessica

    Hi Jessica
    This is my understanding:
    - You want to 'Specially group' materials other than material group. Each special group, may consists of materials from many material groups.
    - User(s) pick materials from this group during 'Auction' creation or 'shopping cart' creation.
    Am I right ?
Looks like using 'Catalog' is the option.
    - MDM Catalog 'mask' or other Catalogs views to have user specific catalog view
    - Maintenance of this catalog by user could become a problem. Then, you need to give content mgmt rights to user
    Best regards
    Ramki
