Is there a way to rename an object (instead of seeing the default "group" name for an object?

I have about 10 objects that are named "group" in the inspector. Does anyone know how to rename these so that it make it easier to manage transition effects between them?

Is there a way to programatically switch a control from the default style to the system style

I was wondering if there was any way to conditionally make a control look like either the default control style or the system control style. The front panel that contained the control would not be running. I'm running Labview 8.0. One possisble way I'm thinking of is changing the type descriptor but I'm not sure how to write to it (I can read it from the 7.x flatten to string function). Another way I'm thinking is maybe changing or applying a typedef but I'm not sure if that's possible either.

Is there a way to rename multiple files in finder at the same time?

for example, I have a group of pictures that I want to all start with the word "start" and be listed as "start1, start2, etc" Is this possible to do as a group versus having to individaully renaming every picture?

There are some third-party renamers, or you can use an Automator Workflow.
Start Automator and create a new Workflow.
Drag in a Get Selected Finder Items Action.
Drag in a Rename Finder Items Action. It will ask if you want to copy the items so that you don't alter the originals. Since you want to actually rename the originals, don't add that action.
Set the parameters for the Rename. If you want to be able to reuse that workflow for different things, click the Options button and set it to show the action when the workflow runs. From your example, choose Make Sequential. Start with a new name and number it after the name.
Save it so you can recall it when needed.
Select your files and Run the workflow.
You could also create it as a Service so that you can select files, then ctrl-click to select the workflow from the contextual menu. If you want that, set the Service to receive Files and Fodlers in the Finder.
Skip step 1 (or delete it if you are converting it to a Service), but do the rest above. Save it with a short name so you can easily find it. It will appear in the Services submenu of the contextual menu.

Easiest way to know the query group name?

This has been nagging at me for quite some time now. Would appreciate you inputs on the ways to find out the query group name for a set of queries we see on the UI.
The obvious method is to search your query group from the list of query groups that system shows when we navigate to Setup->Queries and Reports->Query Groups. Do we have some other ways as well.

Hi Devesh,
If you know the query definition then the easiest way to find the query group would be to use "Search Query Groups by Queries Used" query on the Query Groups list page. This query allows you to select a query definition and returns the query group using the query.
Or you could use "Query Group Review" query on the Query Groups list page. This returns all queries within all Query Groups. You can further refine your search by Query Name or Internal Name of the query you are interested in.
If you want to do a general search for all buy-side list page or buy-side picker page query groups, search for <buylist> and <buypick> respectively.

Is there a way to rename all photos in a folder?

Is there a fast way to rename all the photos in one folder e.g. I have diffreent folders say "wedding" and "birthday" with alot of photos in each. Is there a way to rename all photos in the folder to the same name like all called wedding?
Also when i open photos they automatically open with preview, do I need to impost them into iPhoto or should they just automatically save there?

Are these photos in iPhoto? If so, then use the Photos -> Batch Change command.
IF not then you can use a batch file renamer such as Name Mangler
iPhoto is a database and can only show pics that have been imported to the DB.

I'm not aware of any GUI tool that does this in Leopard. you can change the names of the share points by hand by editing the appropriate plists located in /private/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/config/SharePoints/ but that's a pretty horrible way to do it and is the opposite of user friendly. don't know any other way though.

5800XM Is there a way to rename an Application?

I have installed the Sudoku widget obtained from the Nokia Hong Kong website onto my 5800 XpressMusic. I assume because I don't have the Chinese language installed on my phone, the widget is showing up in my Applications menu with 2 boxes (੡੡) where the Sudoku App name should be. Strangely when you play the game it is all in English. Anyway, is there a way of renaming the Application so it shows the word Sudoku?

The DB version is 11.1.0.7.
The "CATALOG START WITH" not only catalog backup set that are not in the RMAN catalog, but also catalog a second copy for files that are already in the catalog.
Files are not a second copy; they are the same file in the same directory.
Having two copies in the catalog, through an error when deleting explicitly the backups.
We have to add the force clause to avoid the error.
RMAN> delete FORCE backup tag 'offsite-1';
The force clause ignores any I/O error.
The delete is part of our scheduled offsite backup script, which returns a false positive error when the force clause is ommited.
I don't want the force clause, in order to be notify if the backup set that are expected to be on disk are no more there, e.g., if someone had deleted files manually at the OS level bypassing rman.

At line 36 you answered "No" to "Do you really want to catalog the above files (enter YES or NO)?".
Just repeate your demo and answer Yes.
Even if he might have replied with "YES" then also, the RMAN search for the files which it can recognize as a valid rman backup file. Else it would show the list of files which are not recognized by RMAN as a valid file.

About the RMAN catalog, it will not catalog the same file twice. It will only catalog the files which are not known to the database.

Is there a way in Pages to show and print all the added "comments?" (those you add by highlighting text) I am a teacher, and I would like students to be able to view my comments on printed versions of their papers. I know word displays the comments off to the side of the document, and those comments can be viewed all at once and printed alongside the document.

There doesn't appear to be a way to print conmments in either Pages or Numbers in the Mavericks versions.

Let me explain a little more. I had downloaded a lot of free books in the past as a trial when iBooks was first released and since then I have decided I no longer want them, because of this I hid them from the purchased section of the iBooks store. The 5 books left are ones I decided to keep as seen in the following picture.
This is how it appears in iBooks on my mac. There are 4 books downloaded and 1 book that I have decided not to download at this time. I would still like to keep this book available in the cloud incase I want to download it again in the future. You’ll notice that hide iCloud books is not selected, if I wanted to hide the book that I have chosen to keep in the cloud, but have not downloaded yet I could.
This is exactly how I think this feature should work. If you have hidden a book from your purchases it should not show up in the mac Ibooks app. (I am aware you can never actually delete a purchase, just hide them and that hidden purchases can be restored to your account from within the account management section of the iBooks store).
The iOS app is working differently for me. Here is a picture of the purchased tab on the iBooks store in iOS Ibooks. Again notice that pictures of Lilly is still yet to be downloaded. This is how I expected it to look.
If we visit the front page of iOS iBooks the view is very different from what I expected. Here we can see the 4 books I wanted to keep on my device and have downloaded. The latest version of Mavericks does not allow a Pages document to become a 'stationery pad'! Is there a way to do this this other than through the 'Get Info' window? As Pages templates cannot be ordered in folders, my many templates are effectively unusable now and I need to find another way to order and access them.

Are you aware of that you can still use Pages 09 on Mavericks? You don't have to go thru the grieves of using the crippled Pages 5. Pages 09 should bi in Applications/iWork 09 folder.
