Is there a way to reset iPod touch 4th gen without the sleep/wake button?

Hey everyone! My iPod touch 4th gen power button is jammed into the iPod itself. This is obviously a big issue, but is not the main point of this post. My iPod has been laggy and slow, so I need to reset it. (NOT restore, but slide to power off; press and hold home+power for 10 seconds) is there a way for me to do this without my sleep/wake button.

To reset the iPod without the hardware buttons,
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will have to rejoin wifi networks and repair BT devices

No, the only way to track it is "Find My iPhone". And the app has to be installed and activated before your device is lost.

Well when all else fails do a restore! This fixed my problem. Still don't know why the content bar differed, but what the hey!

What happens when you try to change them?
Try:
- Reset all settings

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons and await restart. No content will be affected.

This will fix your problem!
To put the device in DFU mode,
1. Connect the device to iTunes
2. Hold both the power button and the home button down simultaneously
3. After 10 seconds, release the power button but leave the home button pressed
4. iTunes should then recognize that the device has entered DFU mode and ask to restore.
That should get you back on your way.

I got my screen fixed and the day i got my ipod touch 4th gen back the wifi doesnt work unless i hold it right up to my router. Roughly every foot I move back it loses a bar and if i leave the room it doesn't even have a signal completely.

Also if it helps I switched internet providers and during the time when my ipod was being fixed a new router was installed and it doesnt seem to work unless directly infront of my ipod.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

I have a similar issue happenning with my ipod touch 64GB running IOS 6.0.1. My music content is stored via itunes on my Snow Leopard macbook pro as well (and not in the cloud). The music on my ipod (which is sync'd to my macbook pro when I connect via usb) has randomly disappeared about 3 or 4 times lately, not during sync'ing and unrelated to battery charge levels. Fortunately I have been able to restore it by restarting my macbook pro then re-syncing the ipod, which it is now doing as I write, but it takes hours (for over 3000 songs). Having looked at a few other forum discussion pages, it seems this may be a bug related to IOS 6 updates and using music/itunes and podcast playing apps. The same thing has intermittently occurred with some other content such as downloaded podcasts, iplayer content and photos. Once I reconnected the ipod it synced and apparently restored the content, but I can't understand why it lost it in the first place, and its very annoying. Lets hope the reinstalling works on my ipod tonight....up to 248 of 3326 songs syncing as I write....

So I found an iPod touch 4th generation in the road and stopped to pick it up. The screen was completely shattered so I went on Amazon and bought a new one and put it on. When I turned it on It had a passcode. I tried resetting it with the power and home button but the power button doesn't work. After this I tried downloading several different programs like RecBoot and Reiboot but they wouldn't install properly I think because I have Windows 8. But I was just wondering If anyone had any solutions. Thanks!!!
