Is there a way to restore your iPad from the one before the last backup, or every backup erases the previous one?

After 5 days, I have just received a replacement iPad.
Because I was in a hurry and without a adequate connection, I first restored it from the computer to get the apps and everything, intent with later restoring it from the cloud, where the latest backup was done.
When I tried to restore it from the cloud, I could not find the backup from 5 days ago but only the one done today.
Does one backup erases all previous ones? Is that information lost? If not, how can I retrieve it?
Thanks.

In the iTunes Summary screen, select "Encrypt iPhone backup" if you want to encrypt the information stored on your computer when iTunes makes a backup. Encrypted backups are indicated by a padlock icon, and a password is required to restore the information to iPhone. You may want to write down the password for your backup and store it in a safe place. If you use a Mac, when you set a password you can select to store the password in the keychain. With iOS 4 and later, you can transfer the iOS keychain backup to a new device if you encrypt the backup.
Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device.

If the screen is completely shattered why bother to try and restore the phone?

The backup of your iPod Touch would include your camera roll photos.  Restoring the backup to another iPod Touch or iPhone would recover them.  Photos will not be restored by restoring the backup to an iPad.
Note: Apple deletes iCloud backups after 180 days of inactivity so be sure to do this before then.

  • The drive my iTunes music was on is totally dead, so I'm on a new computer.  Is there a way to restore my music from my iPod to the new machine?

I had a total hard drive failure.  I cannot retrieve my music stored on this drive, including a few iTunes purchases I had not backed up.  Is there a way to push my music from my iPod to a new computer with iTunes?  I hate the idea of re-ripping my CD's, not to mention losing some iTunes purchases.

    David,
I would take a look at this old post by another forum member Zevoneer on different ways to recover the media from your iPod.

  • HT1349 Is there a way to resync your computer from an iPod or iPhone mainly to get playlists

Is there a way to resync your computer iTunes library from an iPod or iPhone mainly for importing playlists?

The only way you can sync this music to the new iPod is to transfer it from your old iPod into iTunes first.  For different ways of accomplishing this task, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer.

  • Is there a way to have your iPad automatically switch wifi connection based on signal strength?

I have multiple wifi access points in my house as it is very large. The SSID's are different, and signal is fine coming from one of the two access points. The problem is that when I move about my house, I will stay connected to the access point that is far away, and so I have to go into settings and switch wifi networks each time. Is there a way to set up your iPad so that it automatically switches connections based on signal strength?

Probably not, or .. maybe. I can't think of any reason why that would be added into the OS as the number of situations where it would come into play is really quite small.
If they're all entered as wifi accounts and all show as accessible, walk around the house and sign in to each one in turn. They should all be remembered after that; now, walk around while staying logged into one and see what happens when you get a big spread in received signal strengths.
I really don't think it will change on its own, but it might. Who knows? Even if not, it'd be a matter of not more than 10-15 seconds to make the switch manually.

  • Is there any way to make your iPad 2 into an ipad 2 3g?

I recently bought an iPad 2 iCloud and realized it does not have 3G. Is there any way to upgrade to 3G with my current iPad2? Like, a software update, maybe? Please help...
    Thank you.

You can't update a wifi-only iPad to have 3G, it doesn't have the necessary hardware within it. If you are within the returns period for wherever you bought it from then you could take it back for a refund and buy the 3G version. Otherwise you can use an iPhone as a personal hotspot for it, or you can get mifi devices which take sim cards and act as mobile hotspots for computers and devices.

  • Is there a way to recover your files from a computer that won't work anymore?

if my computer stops working, is there a way to recover the files?

I've been in the same situation once.
    Here's what I did:
Went to Staples and bought an external hard drive enclosure.
Took the hard drive out of the dead computer then installed it in the enclosure.
From there I hooked it up to a working computer via usb port then copied the files that I needed from it.
Assuming that your hard drive is not dead/toasted, then you can recover the data you need through this procedure.
    Hope that helps.

  • If there a way to restore my icloud from a backup other than the very last one?

I deleted some pics before my last backup that I need back. Can someone please help me?

Apple states that it keeps your last three iCloud backups.  During the process of restoring an iCloud backup, iCloud will show you which ones are available and ask you to select the one you want to restore (see image below).  You may need to tap "Show older backups" to access earlier ones.  The only way to find out if an earlier one is available is to go through the restore backup process.

  • Is there any way to restore a vi from a stand alone application

I was trying to setup a datasocket write from a vi and was going to test the datasocket read. I received about 5 "Insane errors" when I hit run that seemed to reference Fieldpoint(the main vi reads from Fieldpoint). Completely bombed me out of labview and it seems that these errors totally wiped out the main program...The file is still in the directory titled the same, but at 0kb and when I open it is untitled and completely blank no code no nothing. The only backup I have is a stand alone application. Is there any way of getting back to the block? First time I've ever seen Labview erase the entire program contents...lesson learned I guess.
    Thanks in advance,

I've never heard about something like this, but first rule anyway - ALWAYS (ALWAYS!!!) BACKUP.
As for the answer - if you built the application with the default settings, you can't extract the BD because there isn't one, only compiled code. Some people build applications as collections of LLBs, which they can then replace, without replacing the EXE itself, but I'm assuming this isn't your case.

I gave my kids (4 years old) my ipad2 to play with, he goes in my setting and messed up all setting that I've set.
Is there anyway to prevent kids from changing your setting, and allow them to use your ipad??
I wish Apple have thought about this when they wrote IOS sofware!!

    They did.

  • Is there a way to upgrade my ipad from 7.0.0 to 7.0.1 instead of straight to 7.0.4

I am trying to update my ipad to 7.0.1. I am on 7.0. But when I go to the software update it goes straight to 7.0.4. But I want 7.0.1 is there a way to manually update it 1 version??
    Thanks,
    Nolan

Your update will be the most current iOS version which is currently 7.0.4. You cannot update to anything in-between 7.0 and 7.0.4.
