Is there a way to restrict access to certain apps on the iphone 4?

I would like to be able to block access on an iphone 4 to certain social networking apps/websites. Is this possible?

Once installed on the phone, there is no way to do what you want.

  • Is there a way to restrict access to who can change the TVARVC table?

    Hi experts,
We have a requirement where we need to restrict access to who can maintain the variables in tvarv table.
How do we go about it?

    Hi,
We had kind of a same scenario. We have table where we enter the Average Item values week wise. We wanted to restrict change and delete access to users for the entries which has already been saved. For this purpose we had created an ABAP program in the "Table Maintenace Generator".  The basic idea about this program is when you create an entry in the table or delete it, a specific event generates. We check the event id whether its "delete" or "change" on the click of save button. If it is Delete or Change, then an error message will be generated saying "You dont have authorization for deleteing or changing the data".
    You can try this approach.

  • How do you restrict access to certain apps via the use of Time Restrictions?

Is there anyway to limit the use of certain apps to a time period of the day? I know the time restrictions on this site ONLY pertain to texting and calls, but not email or any other app, such as Twitter or Facebook, etc.

Well, there are a few different ways to go about it. You could add a preferences page with the admin functionality, and then an admin would just have to click the little pencil in the portlet titlebar. No admin/edit access, no little pencil.
I have often set the visibility of an ASPX control directly from activity rights, in OnPageLoad, if it isn't postback time. The activity rights should be inherited by the user, through the user's group. Best practise is to create empty groups called Roles, add activity rights to the Roles, and then have the actual groups (that contain users) inherit from one or more Roles.
You already knew that part, I added it for the others. My personal definition of a portlet is 'polymorphous instance of a web service'.
    So:
Role: Store Manager (has Edit Shopping Cart activity right)
    ^
Group: Store Managers (has Store Manager parent group)
User: Vladimir (inherits Edit Shopping Cart activity right)

I need to restrict access to Settings on an iPad so settings like VoiceOver cannot be activated while letting them access multiple apps on the device. Is their any way to restrict access to settings without locking the device with a PIN?
This is so our guests cannot tamper or disable the device. We are already using Apple Configurator but their does not seem to be a way to lock down settings without a PIN.

There's a lot of restrictions information in Chapter 19 of the 4.2 User Guide.

By the way, a more extensive version of the User Manual is available at no charge through iBooks.

I created an album on the iPhone but when sync'ed to the mac, the album disappears.  Is there a way to share albums created in iphoto on the iphone with the iphoto on the mac?

Is there a way to share albums created in iphoto on the iphone with the iphoto on the mac?
No, there is not yet a way to do that. Albums created on the iPhone cannot be synced back to the mac.
You might try other ways to send photos back to the mac in a structured way, depending on your IOS version:
You could use Journals instead of albums. If you share a Journal, you can see it on your Mac.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3152
Or create shared photo streams.  iCloud: Using and troubleshooting Shared Photo Streams

  • Is there a way to restrict access to medical content ?

    Hi
I am planning to buy an iPad with cellular connectivity to my grandma to to allow her to discover the Internet with an easy to use tool.
My problem is, she has health anxiety and I don't want her to visit medical websites or forums (which could lead to catastrophic situations).
What is the best way to restrain access to such websites with the iPad ? Do anyone has this kind of experience with iPads ?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I don't believe that there is a solution directly on the ipad, but you may choose a route similar to what companies do when wishing to restrict content, and thatv is to put a firewall in place and set webiste filtering to restrict sites that use certain keywords, normally this is done for pornographic or adult sites, but could be modified for your purpose, You would need to enlist the services of an IT support person who is knowledgeable about website filtering.

  • Is there a way of restricting access to columns in a BI BEANS report?

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to retrict access to a column in a BI BEANS crosstab report. The scenario is, if a particular user has the priviledges to see the profit column in a crosstab, but another user doesn't is there any way to stop the less restricted user from seeing this column using the same BI BEANS report?
This is really the alternative to having 2 reports, 1 with the profit column and 1 without, and depending on what user is logged in, it will show one or the other.
    Regards,
    Scott.

    Hi Scott,
    This is an interesting question.
If I presume you are talking about an OLAP data source where data does not reside in an Analytic Workspace, then the following is true :-
The BI Beans respects database security and therefore the user has access to a particular schema(s) and table(s) in the database.
When talking about cubes, you must remember a cube is mapped to a particular Fact table and dimensions.
Because a Measure is a constituent sub-component of a cube, unless the measures are sourced from different fact tables with different user privileges, then it would be difficult to discriminate against users and hide columns or measures.
Basically, what I am saying is:
A cube is the finest granularity at which users can be differentiated.
A cube maps to a fact table, hence this is the level at which the DB grants are applied.
Unless measures belonged to different cubes, and hence different fact tables, then it would be impossible to discriminate against users and access to different columns/measures.
What you could do however, at the BI Beans application level is :-
Before displaying a presentation object, you could filter the Query programmatically and remove components which you did not want to display i.e. measures etc.
This would require more leg work with the presentation object and filtering the embedded query, but would achieve the same effect. You would have to work out a method of validating users too and what they had access to.
I hope this answers your Question.
Should you require more information, please let us know.
    Many Thanks

  • Best way to restrict access to documents (outside of the group or library level)

Hi, we're thinking of implementing SharePoint Server 2013 Standard Edition for our organization. Many of our employees are research scientists working on proprietary information. From the (admittedly little) I understand about SharePoint, if a user wants
to restrict access to a particular document to the 2 or 3 people with whom they're collaborating (and also have it not appear in the search results), they will have to email their power user to request that a new document library be created in which they can
store their documents. Is that correct? In this case, what is the best way to handle item-level permissions? Users absolutely want to have the freedom to restrict access to their documents themselves rather than being forced to go to their power user. Thanks.

    Hi,
Per my knowledge, if you want to restrict access to the documents to some users, then you need to have Manage Permissions permission to modify other users’ permission on the documents.
If you do not have the Manage Permissions permission, I recommend to ask the site administrator to create a workflow as below to remove the corresponding users’ permission on the documents which you uploaded. You can start the workflow on the document you
upload and then the permission of the users set on the workflow will be removed from the document.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Is there a way to restrict a group of apps?

My family uses the iPad & iPhone-to include my 3y/o.  There are certain apps that cannot be restricted by using "restrictions" in the "settings" app.  We have grouped apps on the iPad for each family member - but what suits me or my husband does not suit the 14 y/o, the 10y/o, or the 3y/o.  It would be nice if we could restrict our individual group or cluster of apps.  Same would be nice for photo albums.

Not a feature of iPad, so no you can't.

  • Is there a way to save a specific text message on the iPhone itself?

I know that with most phones there is an option to "lock" a text, saving it to the phone. Is there a way to do this on the iPhone, or an app that lets you do this?

You could also take a screen shot(quickly/briefly push the home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously) of the text if it fits on one screen. You'll hear the same sound as when you take a photo and the image will show up on the camera roll.

  • Is there any way to delete more than one email from the iPhone at a time?

What if I know I've read everything already online - can I press my Mail icon and instead of opening & deleting one by one, can't I delete everything in my Mail that's there? THANKS!

Use the edit button, then select all messages you want to delete, and press "Delete" button. You still have to select one by one, but you'd have to do it anyway.

  • Is there any way to downgrade to previous ios version for the iphone?

I wanted some help, can anyone let me know if downgrading from ios 6 is possible for iphone 4? I upgraded to the new os but everything has slowed down on my phone, I wanted to revert back to the factory installed os. Thanks in advance for the help!

I do not think this is possible. I understand that, once upgraded, you cannot downgrade any iOS.
iOS 6.0 is disappointing in terms of battery life, apple maps etc.

  • HT1688 Is there a way to import photos from your computer to the Iphone?

How can I import pictures to the IPHONE4 from the computer?

Just connect your iPhone to your computer, click the iPhone in iTunes, then click the Photos tab and choose the photos that you want to sync.
