Is there a way to run Internet Explorer on a Mac mini with mountain lion?

I need to access a professional website that only works with IE (don't get me started on THAT) I need to do billing using this site so need to have full functionality.  Is there a way to run IE on my mac mini with mountain lion?

The key takeaway here is that yes, you can access Windows 7 (and IE 9) from OS X Mountain Lion.
The crucial question is about your workflow. If you need concurrent access to both Windows 7 and Mountain Lion, then the Bootcamp solution included with Mountain Lion would not be the right choice. You would need one of the virtualization solutions.
If you need helpdesk support from a paid product, rather than entirely from a community forum, then the latest Parallel's Desktop or VMware would be a matter of choice, with Parallel's the better decision at this point. Either of these products are under $100, in addition to the cost of a Windows 7 license. You may need the Windows 7 installation media as an .ISO file, rather than on DVD. Check requirements.
By example, I use Oracle's VirtualBox (free) on Mountain Lion, with a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit guest. The interactive and network performance of this Windows guest are more than adequate on my 2011 mini. I assigned 3 GB memory and 2 of 4 processor threads to the Windows 7 guest. I also restricted guest CPU use to 80%. VirtualBox is installed on my SSD, but the Windows guest is on an external HDD. That is not a default configuration. There are multiple choices for display; from full-screen 1920x1200 (mine) to an isolated resizeable window, to seamless integration with OS X. The Apple keyboard, bluetooth devices (trackpad/mouse), and printer all are recognized. I also have a shared OS X folder with VirtualBox, and copy/paste integration.
I use VirtualBox as it meets my support (forum) and functional requirements.
Best wishes,

Internet Explorer is not available for Mac.
But you can make Safari pretend to be Internet Explorer in some cases.
        Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
"Develop" menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop, move mouse down to "User Agent".
Select Internet Explorer from popup on the rightside.
After using Internet Explorer, revert back to Safari, doing the same routine.

  • What is the most efficient way to run internet explorer on a mac?

I have to use I.E. for school along with Outlook.  I run windows for mac and am looking for the cheapest and least invasive way to do so.

Specifically I cannot attach files such as students grades or send requests to our photocopy center.  I works great on a pc but won't work on a mac.  Most at my institution thumb their noses at macs and I have been told directly they will not support mac or OSX.  I have tried using firefox but have been told by my colleagues that IE is the only browser that works.
What you are running into is unfortunately rather common in business, education, and government. What happened is that your school computerized their operations in the late 1990s to early 2000s, when Internet Explorer on Windows XP was the most common web browser. Websites were coded to take advantage of technologies that are unique to IE. Once all these institutions and businesses finished their work, they thought they were done and they moved on.
But in the time since then, the world changed around them. The Web moved towards "standards compliance," which means writing web sites for the CSS3 and HTML5 standards. Not for old Microsoft-only Internet Explorer features. If a web site is standards compliant, it will work on any browser that is also standards compliant. That would include every popular browser today: Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. (As well as the latest Internet Explorer for Windows, which is much better than it used to be.)
Standards compliance was a wonderful revolution, because it meant we could use any browser. It also paved the way for the iOS and Android mobile device boom, since they need to use mobile web browsers and those are not Internet Explorer.
The big problem is that your institution, like many others in education, business, and government, either doesn't want to upgrade their systems or doesn't have the budget. The system they built in 1996 or 2002 is being maintained, but it isn't being modernized. Therefore, it is not standards compliant. That's why it doesn't work with Firefox or Safari.
I am sure that both you and they have noticed that they have fallen behind, because it's very easy to show this. If you go to any modern web site...Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Yahoo, Dropbox, every photo sharing site, every web forum, etc. it is extremely easy to upload attachments no matter what web browser you use.
Of course, they'll get very defensive if you try to tell them that their systems are totally out of date and any browser should be able to upload attachments. Even if that's true, they may not be able to overhaul their systems any time soon. Maybe they would like to, but they can't get the funding. The problem for them is that more and more devices are being used on their network which don't have Internet Explorer, like Macs, phones, and tablets, and it's revealing the limitations of their system.
That's the situation. It won't be easy to fix because it requires that the school's systems be modernized. But they really need to be modernized, because as we saw, attachments are no problem on multiple browsers on all the other web sites we use every day.
If they could update their systems, the benefits would be significant. If their web site became standards compliant, it would automatically support smartphones, tablets, and Mac web browsers with probably very little extra work.

  • Is there any way to open Internet Explorer?

I wonder if there's any way of opening Internet Explorer up, together with the specified URL without the user clicking on the IE icon using Java??
    Thank you in advance.

IE (Internet Explorer) is fused into Windows and so Windows will always be able to access it, thats right, you can NEVER really get rid of it. That's because Microsoft decided for you that YOU want their browser and no body elses. Either Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, or HotJava will be installed on a Windows-based system so do this to get IE running.
String theURL = "http://java.sun.com"; // chnage this to whatever URL you want.
    try {
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("c:/program files/internet explorer/iexplore.exe " + theURL)'
    } catch(IOException e) {
Now it runs IE, netscape is something similar.
MacOS will be different, also Unix/Linux.

  • What is the best way to run internet explorer on Mac and IPad and is it safe to do so??

I need to run internet explorer to access new billing software,  what is the best way to do so and is it safe to run this on macbook and ipad if possible??

You can't run IE on an iPad and the only way to use it on a Mac, since it's been discontinued for years for the Mac OS, is to install Windows either via Boot Camp or via running Windows as a virtual machine using something such as Parallels Desktop (my personal preference).

  • Is there a way to set internet explorer compatibility on my Mac (in Chrome or Safari)?

I am trying to view a website that requires IE compatibility.  There is a Chrome extension called IE Tab but it only works on a Windows machine, not a Mac.  Any idea what works on a Mac?

I am trying to view a website that requires IE compatibility.
If at all possible avoid that website. I would be concerned about undesirable things going into your computer.  In the Windows world Internet Explorer is a common conduit to damage computers.
If they are shortsighted enough to do this I would be very concerned about other mistakes they may be making.
My browser of choice is Firefox.

  • Hi is there a way of using internet explorer

Boot Camp Assistant allows you to install Windows OS on your Apple computer. Here is the Boot Camp forum: https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

  • How can I run Internet Explorer on my Mac?

I have to use Internet Explorer for work and it won't seem to work on my Mac. Can someone teach me how to run IE on Mac OS? Thanks in advance!

The best way to run any version of IE is to run it in Windows on a virtual machine like VirtualBox... it will be fully compatible since your actually running Windows.
You can also take a program like Wineskin (free) or Crossover (not free), and use it to run IE6 or IE7, but IE 8 and 9 won't run yet, and even 6 and 7 have a few minor issues here and there.

  • Is there any way to run Siri on my iPad(iOS 6) with Local WiFi Network which requires a proxy sever and a port(8080) to connect to the internet?

I create the WiFi network using the internet sharing option in my Macbook Pro from a local ethernet connection..and set the HTTP proxy settings in my new iPad.Siri runs like a charm on an other WiFi connection which doesnt require proxy but on my University connection it says that it cant handle any requests right now..

We were having the same problem here at the School I work at.  By looking at some traffic logs and doing some internal testing, it appears Siri attempts to make a direct connection to the outside network using HTTPS (port 443), without using any of the proxy settings you may have configured on the Wifi network.
We've reported it as a bug to Apple but haven't heard anything back yet.
To get around it in the meantime you'll have to punch a hole in your firewall to allow Siri traffic through.
Currently Siri appears to contact IP address 17.174.4.14 over port 443.  The IP address may change in the future, but that will at least get you up and going for now.  We went ahead and opened the entire 17.174.4.0/24 network, as the entire block of addressess is owned by Apple.
Again, there is no gaurentee that this will not change in the future and break again.
    Good luck!

  • Is there ANY way to disable internet for specific wired MACs?

I have been looking for a way to restrict specific MAC addresses from routing to the internet with my AEBS. The Access tab is labeled that it allows internet access for only the MACs in the list which is incorrect, it restricts connections to the AEBS entirely (not just to the internet).

That is correct - Access Control cannot be used to limit wireless clients from accessing just the internet. Access Control also has no influence at all on restricting access by wired clients - it only influences connections by wireless clients.
I assume the purpose of this is to find a way for a parent to limit internet access from one of their child's computers? If so, you should instead use software on the Mac itself, like the MacOS 10.4 "parental controls" feature.

  • Hey guys is there a way to run PC games on a mac without using something like bootcamp.

Just woundering because I use to have a PC and my friend has one too and he plays games that don't have a mac version for them and I wan't to play those with him but don't want to give up my OS X software or use something like bootcamp of vmalwarefusion. Please help.

You can try to use WineBottler or CrossOver to install the game, but the performance will be terrible. If you want to play games, maybe that solution could work, but the best you can do is to install Windows on Boot Camp if you want the maximum performance

  • Is there any way to download diablo 2 on a mac pro with 10.6 or higher?, is there any way to download diablo 2 on a mac pro with 10.6 or higher?

    ?

If you have previously registered your game with Blizzard then you can download the full installer from battle.net
Log in with your Battle.Net credentials
    Go to "Account"
Select "Diablo II" under the Classics header
Select "Install OSX" to download the installer
As Barney mentioned, since the game is of the PPC variety, it will only run on 10.6.8 or lower.
