I hear you, I do.  But the problem is that with my Mac, I have to stop and postpone whatever project I am working on while the backup occurs.  It just slows down my computer.
Then something is wrong with your backups.  Changing the interval will only deal with they symptoms, not the actual problem, and you won't be as well protected as with hourly backups.
If the backups are much larger than they ought to be,  see #D4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If the sizes are reasonable, but it seems to take too long, see #D2 there.

But now we need to get rid of cold fusion.
Is there any way to schedule the URL's in windows server?

  • Is there a way to schedule an event to occur in the future?

I am looking for a generic way to schedule events which are triggered in the future (in LabVIEW without using DAQ).
I already have a way of scheduling future events but it uses a polling thread to keep an eye on the list of times and execute the events and maintain the list. To get higher time resolution it would have to run faster although most of the time there are no events in the queue.
(An 'event' in my queue is currently a cluster of a future time and a boolean control reference).
What I would like to do is queue events (could be user defined events) so that they can be posted at future times without a process having to poll for them.
If I make my polling event wait (e.g. using the ms Timer) then it can't wake up do deal with an event which was queued later but required to be posted sooner.
    Any clues?
    Solved!

What time resolution do you want/need? Please be specific. (milliseconds, seconds, etc.)

I think part of the confusion is your generic use of the word "event", while events have a very defined special meaning in LabVIEW. "Polling event" is a contradiction.
So, first of all, do you even use event structures? Can you show us some code? There is probably an easy solution.
For example you could look at the array of scheduled tasks and recalculate a new timeout value for an event structure whenever a new task is added or whenever a task has just executed. No polling needed. In the timeout event, determine which task is ready to execute and launch it. (e.g. via a queue or similar).

  • Is there any way to schedule an Internet connection reset?

    Hello.
I live in a three-story house and have a Wi-Fi network set up using a Time Capsule and a couple of AirPort Express units. The Time Capsule, which is connected to the modem and is the initiator of the network, is on the second floor and there’s an AirPort Express each on both the first and third floors.
In India, we do not have the luxury of high speed unlimited access to the Internet. We can either opt for a 2Mbps connection (yeah, +scorching fast+, I know) that is capped at 2.5GB and allows unlimited access between 02:00 AM and 08:00 AM each day, or a 512Kbps unlimited connection.
Right now, I’m subscribed to the latter, but I made the mistake of traveling to the USA recently and, after having gotten used to the 16Mbps speeds for a month, I just cannot tolerate the incredibly slow speeds anymore.
Therefore, I’m thinking of switching to the 2Mbps connection. Since I download a lot of stuff though, I need to find a way to have the Internet connection automatically disconnect and reconnect at 02:00 AM and then get disconnected at 08:00 AM. Is there any way to get this done?
Putting my Mac to sleep and have it automatically wake up at 02:00 AM won’t work because the Internet connection will still remain connected on the Time Capsule and I will still get charged for the nighttime downloading. Is there any way to have my Time Capsule do the job for me—some Automator script or something, perhaps?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How would that help though? I need the Internet connection to be reset, so that a new session starts after 02:00 AM, which will then be counted among the happy hours and won’t be chargeable. Restricted my Mac from accessing the wireless network is not the solution here.
Thanks for trying to come up with a solution though. Do let me know if you think of any other alternative.

  • Is there a way to schedule Photostream activity?

We are moving, and despite being only 15 miles away from a major city, we don't have any options for landline based internet. We aren't farmers, but the house is not part of a neighborhood and apparently not worth anyone trying to run service out there. AT&T is discontinuing DSL, so even though the current owners have DSL, when they close their account and we move in AT&T won't turn it back on. It's Uverse or nothing with AT&T, but they don't offer Uverse at our address. Seems they'd rather have no business than some business. There's no cable, no other options- other than satellite or wireless.
Besides the fact I feel like we're moving back to the 19th century, I need to figure out a way to keep my data usage under the caps. My biggest problem right now is photostream. I'm already resigned to not being able to stream video.  We have two macs, two iphones, two ipads. So every picture gets uploaded once and downloaded 5 times. We usually have about 2GB of photos a month, which would be more than half of the data allowance of the most expensive satellite internet plan. I'm guessing we will just have to turn photostream off.
But I will get unlimited data during certain off-peak hours. If there was a way I could get the mac to do what it needs to do during those hours it would be helpful. 90% of the pics come from the iphones. We can leave those on cell service until we plug them in for the night, keeping them from uploading until we are ready. It would be nice to schedule the uploading and downloading on the mac but I can't find a way to do it.
I know most people aren't stuck with data caps so this isn't an issue, but I can't be alone in this type of deal.

It is not easy to control, when photo stream syncing with iCloud will happen.
See this document iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
    The paragraph:
iOS devices: New photos you take are automatically uploaded to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. My Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections.
Macs: Any new photos you import to iPhoto or Aperture begin uploading automatically when you have a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Or you can change your iPhoto or Aperture preferences so that only photos you manually add to My Photo Stream are uploaded.
The iPhones and iPads will only upload to Photo Stream, if Wi-Fi is enabled and the Camera.app closed. So, to prevent the iOS devices from uploading to Photo Stream, keep the Camera.app open, until you are ready to upload to Photo Stream.
On your Macs, disable the automatic upload to the Photo Stream and only add photos to your Photo Stream (drag them there in iPhoto or Aperture), during the off-peak hours.
The downloading to your devices will happen immediately, when photos have been added to My Photo Strem and the devices are ready to download. So have all five devices ready during off-peak hours to download, if you upload on one device.

  • Is there a way to schedule iCloud Photo Library uploading?

My photo library is over 500GB. It will take multiple weeks to upload it. During uploading any interactive use of my Internet connection is annoyingly slow. So I would like to schedule (and limit) my uploads to certain times of the day that I can control with crontab or launchctl. Is there anything better than just "Pause for one day" and "Resume"?
I looked at the Photo AppleScript dictionary but couldn't find anything obvious. I also started to experiment with launchctl and found that
    launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.cloudphotosd.plist
    stops uploading. But
    launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.cloudphotosd.plist
doesn't seem to restart it (at least not immediately). And I had to restart Photo to regain control of the "Pause for one day" / "Resume" button.
    Any other recommendations?

That's the way it is designed to work. Photos in your Photo app on the phone originally came from your computer, so they should still be there; Apple provides no way to transfer them back.
You can find "iphone file browsers" that let you see some of the contents of your phone, including photos in the photo app, and they can copy those photos to your computer, but the resolution will have been optimized for the iPhone, which may be lower resolution than the originals of those photos.

  • Is there any way to schedule the webi report as body of the mail

    Hi All,
I have a bit different requirement. I need to schedule the webi reports to BlackBerry Mobile .
The report should be displayed not as an attachment or URL but should be the body of the mail.
Is there any Trick or Tip to do that.
    Thanks in Advance

You could schedule the reports to run as an Excel or PDF document and the destination as a folder on a server.  Then after the reports are sent to the destination, you could use the Program Job Server to run a script which parses the files line-by-line and creates an email.  It's not the most elegant solution but in theory it should work.

  • Is there a way to schedule a report in Ops Center 12c on SMF services chang

We are looking for a way to report on Solaris SMF changes (needed for PCI DSS). for example: If telnet service is enabled or disabled.
We are using Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c which alerts on SMF changes. but we would like to baseline the SMF enabled services and or run/schedule a report on which SMF service's are enable/disabled, compare host-A to host-B.
Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c has the knowledge of all that. the question is, if we can generate a report with the SMF changes?

    Hi David,
BI Service do not allow consumers to select the document instance they want their data from. You can only get the data from document latest instance (in case it is scheduled) or from the user instance in their inbox (in case document is published) from the two corresponding call input parameter (getFromLatestInstance and getFromUserInstance).
We are considering an improvement to allow consumers to select the document instance to use, but we are still in the process of gathering user feedback in order to implement this in the most convenient way (as we find challenging for consumers to know which instance are actually available when web service is called, and have them identify the one they request as well).
Any idea or feedback is welcome.
    Regards,
    David.

  • Is there a way to schedule downloads for off-peak hours? (Hughesnet user)

Our ISP allows a limited download capacity of 15GB per month, but allows another 15GB between the hours of 2AM-8AM. I would like to be able to download the programs during this time. If it were at home, I would wake up and start the downloads, but being at my office at work this is not possible. I have a download manager which can schedule other downloads for my computer, but downloading through the Creative Cloud Installer app eliminates this possibility. Are direct download links available? Or another solution?

  • Is there a way to schedule the screensaver to turn off or on automatically?

    Greetings, folks,
I have rotating firewire hardrive backups scheduled via Dantz Retrospect on my iMac G4 for all of my computers in the house. Obviously these backups utilize quite a bit of CPU power, around 90-96% on average. A problem I have is that the backup will suspend if another high CPU process starts like, the screensaver for instance. Dantz say that this is typical and to disable the screensaver when performing backups to avoid this. But if I'm not home when these backups take place then I have a problem; I also don't want to not have the screensaver turned off all of the time. Here's my question; Is it possible to schedule the automatic turning on and off of the screensaver via automator or applescript? Cheers in advance for any help.
    Cheers,

A couple of things. The ScreenSaver settings are stored in ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost. You'll have to determine which one of those is the one containing the idleTime parameter. On my machine, using the Terminal app command:
    defaults read /Users/baltwo/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.screensaver.003065aba550 yields:
    idleTime = 900;
    lastPictureDirectoryChosen = "/Users/baltwo/Library/Screen Savers";
    moduleName = Cosmos;
    modulePath = "/System/Library/Screen Savers/Cosmos.slideSaver";
    Change it with this command:
defaults write /Users/baltwo/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.screensaver.003065aba550 idleTime 1800, for example, changing it from 15 minutes to 30 minutes.
Setting it up for your situation is left as an exercise since I don't know how long your backups take or when you schedule them. The Applescript command would be something like:
do shell script "defaults write /Users/baltwo/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.screensaver.003065aba550 idleTime 1800"

  • Is there a way of stopping slow IMAP synchronization?

I'm using my old PowerBook G4 for a few days while my MBP is at Apple for a repair. I filter my email through Gmail and usually download via POP3 on my MBP.
While my MBP is in the shop I would like to use Mail.app in IMAP mode (like I do on my iPhone) because I hate using Gmail directly.
But unlike the iPhone, Mail.app wants to synchronize EVERYTHING - hundreds of thousands of messages. This bogs everything down.
I see the menu items for "synchronize" but not anything to stop synchronization once it's started. Clicking the little "x" where it is showing the synchronization status doesn't seem to do anything.
Is there any way of stopping the synchronization?
    Thanks,
    doug

I got it to work this way:
    1. Since they are IMAP accounts it doesn't matter if you delete and recreate them, so as soon as Mail started up I took all accounts offline and deleted them all.
    2. For each account, I re-created it and as I created it set the option to not save copies on my computer.
Voila. It's showing the same contents I see in my Gmail inbox in each account without the huge, time-consuming synchronization.
Viewing each message, which is not stored offline anymore, is at least as fast as viewing in Gmail. Plus I don't have to deal with the Gmail UI, or keep multiple browser tabs open (one for each account), etc.
Thanks very much for that hint about the not keeping copies on my computer setting. It was perfect in this case. I wasn't quite sure what that setting meant until you described it.

  • Is there a way to mass reschedule a series of reports???

Till now we managed to schedule individual reports. However, there is a necessity to mass re-schedule them. Schedule each report one by one is not the desired procedure. Is there another way? Is there a way to schedule a time and then choose which reports will run on that time? Any information will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
    Edited by: user2207969 on Jun 1, 2009 12:26 AM

Thank you for your answers. The problem is that the rescheduling must be done by the client. We have about 50 reports that should be run all at once. If something goes wrong, all of them must run again. So someone needs to reschedule all of the reports to run on another time. Till now the only way we know is to reschedule the reports one by one. Is there another way?
