Is there a way to schedule Photostream activity?

We are moving, and despite being only 15 miles away from a major city, we don't have any options for landline based internet. We aren't farmers, but the house is not part of a neighborhood and apparently not worth anyone trying to run service out there. AT&T is discontinuing DSL, so even though the current owners have DSL, when they close their account and we move in AT&T won't turn it back on. It's Uverse or nothing with AT&T, but they don't offer Uverse at our address. Seems they'd rather have no business than some business. There's no cable, no other options- other than satellite or wireless.
Besides the fact I feel like we're moving back to the 19th century, I need to figure out a way to keep my data usage under the caps. My biggest problem right now is photostream. I'm already resigned to not being able to stream video.  We have two macs, two iphones, two ipads. So every picture gets uploaded once and downloaded 5 times. We usually have about 2GB of photos a month, which would be more than half of the data allowance of the most expensive satellite internet plan. I'm guessing we will just have to turn photostream off.
But I will get unlimited data during certain off-peak hours. If there was a way I could get the mac to do what it needs to do during those hours it would be helpful. 90% of the pics come from the iphones. We can leave those on cell service until we plug them in for the night, keeping them from uploading until we are ready. It would be nice to schedule the uploading and downloading on the mac but I can't find a way to do it.
I know most people aren't stuck with data caps so this isn't an issue, but I can't be alone in this type of deal.

It is not easy to control, when photo stream syncing with iCloud will happen.
See this document iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
The paragraph:
iOS devices: New photos you take are automatically uploaded to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. My Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections.
Macs: Any new photos you import to iPhoto or Aperture begin uploading automatically when you have a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Or you can change your iPhoto or Aperture preferences so that only photos you manually add to My Photo Stream are uploaded.
The iPhones and iPads will only upload to Photo Stream, if Wi-Fi is enabled and the Camera.app closed. So, to prevent the iOS devices from uploading to Photo Stream, keep the Camera.app open, until you are ready to upload to Photo Stream.
On your Macs, disable the automatic upload to the Photo Stream and only add photos to your Photo Stream (drag them there in iPhoto or Aperture), during the off-peak hours.
The downloading to your devices will happen immediately, when photos have been added to My Photo Strem and the devices are ready to download. So have all five devices ready during off-peak hours to download, if you upload on one device.

  • Is there a way to reverse the active/inactive portions of the duty cycle?

I'm trying to sync the start times for an AI operation and a buffered encoder read. These two operations happen at different sampling rates and different sampling intervals, so I can't just port the AI scanclock over to the gates of the encoder counters.
My approach is to use three counters: one to generate a triggered pulse that has a width equal to the total sampling time (the trigger for this pulse comes from the AI start). The OUT from this counter then feeds the GATE for a counter that generates a pulse train while the GATE is high. Therefore, it generates a finite pulse train for the desired acquistion time. The out from this second counter goes to the GATEs of the encoder counters to
    generate the DMA transfers.
The problem is that the pulse train always puts the active portion of the duty cycle at the end of the period, so the DMA transfer happens at a delay of T/2 relative to the start of the AI acquisition.
Is there a way to put the active portion of the duty cycle at the start of the period? i.e., when the gate goes high, I want the pulse train to start high then go low at the end of the duty cycle.
    Thanks,
    rgames

The simplest seeming answer would often be to use 'Set Attribute.vi' to change the counter's output polarity. Then the counter will be at a high state during the delay and low during the pulse. However, that would also put it in the high state while armed and waiting for the trigger, and again after the pulse completes. It doesn't seem like that would work for you.
A near-miss idea would be to leave the polarity alone and simply specify the shortest possible delay. Use the internal max timebase as a source and set "Pulse Spec 1" == 2. On a 660x device, that'll only delay you by 25 nsec.
In fact, you may be able to change that near-miss into a perfect hit. The short delay may or may not change the timing of the DMA transfers relative to the trigger, depending on exactly how the "generate pulse train while gate is high" function is implemented. Here are some ways I can imagine:
    A. The "pulse while gate is high" counter is always cycling internally. An output signal is always being generated on the TIO chip and is always being AND'ed with the state of the Gate signal coming in. The result of the AND is sent to the actual IO pin.
    B. Similar to (A), but the AND'ing is done only when there's a state transition and the result is latched until the next state transition.
    C. Internally, the pulse train counter always *wants* to run, but its Source is always being AND'ed with the Gate signal. Then, as far as the pulse train counter is concerned, time is frozen when the Gate is in the inactive state. This is how I *think* I remember it working.
In cases (A) and (B), the timing of the DMA transfers wouldn't be affected except for the rare case where the trigger event occurred within 25 nsec of a "scheduled" transfer. In case (C), you can compensate by changing the duty cycle of the "pulse while Gate is high" counter. Simply subtract 2 from "Pulse Spec 1" and add 2 to "Pulse Spec 2". Then (assuming its polarity is low state delay, high state pulse) make sure the encoder counter Gate is set to do DMA transfers on the low-->high transition.
Final note: if timing synchronization between analog and encoder is really important, there may be a better way. As I recall, the AI start signal does not have deterministic timing relative to the actual A/D conversions. You might instead have two counters of the 660x set to "pulse while Gate is high" and set up the other one to be the AI scan clock. Then you'd be more fully in control of their time==0 marks.

I hear you, I do.  But the problem is that with my Mac, I have to stop and postpone whatever project I am working on while the backup occurs.  It just slows down my computer.
Then something is wrong with your backups.  Changing the interval will only deal with they symptoms, not the actual problem, and you won't be as well protected as with hourly backups.
If the backups are much larger than they ought to be,  see #D4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If the sizes are reasonable, but it seems to take too long, see #D2 there.

We have more than 5 web application running in IIS.Most of them are ASP.Net applications and 1 is Cold fusion application.
There is a facility in cold fusion Administration to schedule the URLs.We are using the same facility for schedule purpose(15 URL are scheduled).
But now we need to get rid of cold fusion.
Is there any way to schedule the URL's in windows server?
    Appreciate your help.

  • Is there a way to pause button activations

Is there a way to pause the activation of buttons, I have a background video that rolls for a few seconds till it gets to a looping point, I don't want to see my active overlays of my buttons till then.
Is there a way to tell my buttons to become active at a certain time or to pause or wait.
This is my first experience with Encore, I used DVDPRO before and I could give the buttons a pause time.
Just need someone to point me in the right direction...
    Thanks,
    Lic

Encore uses a loop point designation, not a pause.

Keep in mind that it is not the "buttons" that show up when the loop point is reached; it is, as  you are saying, the highlights that appear. For the parts of the buttons that are visible unrelated to the highlights, you include them in the motion background, appearing at the point you want them.

  • Is there a way to reset the activation limit?

Hi.  I originally bought Photoshop CS2 (I guess about 7 years ago), and since then I've upgraded to CS3, and then the CS5 Extended Upgrade.  Unfortunately over the years I've had system crashes that required complete reinstalls of Windows, and as a result I have no more "activations".  In addition, there's something goofy with the Photoshop CS 5 Extended upgrade application in that although Adobe did offer an upgrade from CS3 to CS5 Extended the installer doesn't recognize the serial number. (Neither the CS2 full product serial number, nor the CS3 upgrade serial number.)
As a result, any time I need to install Photoshop it means I have to call them, and last time (for the CS5 Extended install) it took about an hour on the phone, multiple discussions between the customer support person and their supervisor, etc.  I'm at the point where I'm not going to pay for the CS6 upgrade just because I don't want to deal with the hassle of installing it.
Is there some way to get Adobe to "wipe the slate clean" and reset the activations so I can do this all over the net?  And does the CS6 installer recognize older serial numbers like CS2 or the CS3 upgrade serial number?

For the installer question I'm wondering if the CS6 Extended installer will work with the serial numbers I have.  The CS5 Extended installer didn't.
I have the following serial numbers:
    Photoshop CS2 (full application)
    Photoshop CS3 (upgrade)
    Photoshop CS5 Extended (upgrade)

  • Is there a way to schedule an event to occur in the future?

I am looking for a generic way to schedule events which are triggered in the future (in LabVIEW without using DAQ).
I already have a way of scheduling future events but it uses a polling thread to keep an eye on the list of times and execute the events and maintain the list. To get higher time resolution it would have to run faster although most of the time there are no events in the queue.
(An 'event' in my queue is currently a cluster of a future time and a boolean control reference).
What I would like to do is queue events (could be user defined events) so that they can be posted at future times without a process having to poll for them.
If I make my polling event wait (e.g. using the ms Timer) then it can't wake up do deal with an event which was queued later but required to be posted sooner.
    Any clues?
    Solved!

What time resolution do you want/need? Please be specific. (milliseconds, seconds, etc.)

I think part of the confusion is your generic use of the word "event", while events have a very defined special meaning in LabVIEW. "Polling event" is a contradiction.
So, first of all, do you even use event structures? Can you show us some code? There is probably an easy solution.
For example you could look at the array of scheduled tasks and recalculate a new timeout value for an event structure whenever a new task is added or whenever a task has just executed. No polling needed. In the timeout event, determine which task is ready to execute and launch it. (e.g. via a queue or similar).

  • Is there any way to schedule an Internet connection reset?

    Hello.
I live in a three-story house and have a Wi-Fi network set up using a Time Capsule and a couple of AirPort Express units. The Time Capsule, which is connected to the modem and is the initiator of the network, is on the second floor and there’s an AirPort Express each on both the first and third floors.
In India, we do not have the luxury of high speed unlimited access to the Internet. We can either opt for a 2Mbps connection (yeah, +scorching fast+, I know) that is capped at 2.5GB and allows unlimited access between 02:00 AM and 08:00 AM each day, or a 512Kbps unlimited connection.
Right now, I’m subscribed to the latter, but I made the mistake of traveling to the USA recently and, after having gotten used to the 16Mbps speeds for a month, I just cannot tolerate the incredibly slow speeds anymore.
Therefore, I’m thinking of switching to the 2Mbps connection. Since I download a lot of stuff though, I need to find a way to have the Internet connection automatically disconnect and reconnect at 02:00 AM and then get disconnected at 08:00 AM. Is there any way to get this done?
Putting my Mac to sleep and have it automatically wake up at 02:00 AM won’t work because the Internet connection will still remain connected on the Time Capsule and I will still get charged for the nighttime downloading. Is there any way to have my Time Capsule do the job for me—some Automator script or something, perhaps?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How would that help though? I need the Internet connection to be reset, so that a new session starts after 02:00 AM, which will then be counted among the happy hours and won’t be chargeable. Restricted my Mac from accessing the wireless network is not the solution here.
Thanks for trying to come up with a solution though. Do let me know if you think of any other alternative.

  • Is there a way to schedule iCloud Photo Library uploading?

My photo library is over 500GB. It will take multiple weeks to upload it. During uploading any interactive use of my Internet connection is annoyingly slow. So I would like to schedule (and limit) my uploads to certain times of the day that I can control with crontab or launchctl. Is there anything better than just "Pause for one day" and "Resume"?
I looked at the Photo AppleScript dictionary but couldn't find anything obvious. I also started to experiment with launchctl and found that
    launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.cloudphotosd.plist
    stops uploading. But
    launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.cloudphotosd.plist
doesn't seem to restart it (at least not immediately). And I had to restart Photo to regain control of the "Pause for one day" / "Resume" button.
    Any other recommendations?

That's the way it is designed to work. Photos in your Photo app on the phone originally came from your computer, so they should still be there; Apple provides no way to transfer them back.
You can find "iphone file browsers" that let you see some of the contents of your phone, including photos in the photo app, and they can copy those photos to your computer, but the resolution will have been optimized for the iPhone, which may be lower resolution than the originals of those photos.

  • Is there a way of just viewing active hours ( e.g. 8am - 6pm ) and removing greyed our hours ?

I am trying to set up a group calender and want to remove the hours we dont work and want the  calender to run from 8am - 6pm.  Is this possible ?

Question 1. I already asked this, Can I removed the Apple default apps?
No. But you can turn off automatic syncing and Push email and set the phone to retrieve mail manually.
Question 2. Can I control the way apps access the data network?
Sort of. Turn on Airplane mode which will disable the cellular modem then turn on WiFi only. With Airplane mode ON and WiFi ON, your phone will only connect to the internet using an available WiFi connection.
I can't find a way to prevent apps from using it or switching to it when my WI-FI drops momentarily.
Apps do not run in the background so they only way an app can attempt to connect is if you have it running. If you do not run the app, it cannot run up your bill. For Apps that have "background" notification, you can turn that option off in the settings for each of those apps.
Question 3. Is it possible for the mobile provider to turn my data network off while leaving the cellular network active?
That is up to your provider. Call them. Go into Settings, General, Network, and turn OFF Data Roaming.
Question 4. I'm trapped in a tough spot, is there something "technical" I can do, that I haven't mentioned bellow? There must be something to elevate the situation.
In the US, you can return the phone within thirty days and void the contract. If you do not have that option, or if you are past thirty days, you can pay the ETF (Early Termination Fee) and void the contract.
I live in a very rural area in the US and I have used all of the techniques listed above at different times. I hope this helps; I "get it" that a huge Surprise! data roaming bill at the end of the month can be upsetting. Try the stuff I listed above and if none of that works, paying the ETF might be cheaper than paying Surprise! bills every month.
    Hope this was helpful.

  • Is there any way to schedule the webi report as body of the mail

    Hi All,
I have a bit different requirement. I need to schedule the webi reports to BlackBerry Mobile .
The report should be displayed not as an attachment or URL but should be the body of the mail.
Is there any Trick or Tip to do that.
    Thanks in Advance

You could schedule the reports to run as an Excel or PDF document and the destination as a folder on a server.  Then after the reports are sent to the destination, you could use the Program Job Server to run a script which parses the files line-by-line and creates an email.  It's not the most elegant solution but in theory it should work.
